We are apparently chasing tall and dynamic key defenders so naturally, Jonas is high on our list.

Someone needs to pay his retirement out. He must be 40 and he's like a key position Jack Lonie.

To be fair. Stavros has come on here with a lot of information and most of the time he has been on the money.

We are looking the best we have since 2011.

By the way how is BJ Goddard performing in his coach/development role? I've regularly seen him in the huddles at the breaks giving the players some of his football nous. Another unsung hero in our transformation.

I hear we have approached Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad as our swingmen (get it? get it?, yeah sad old boomer joke)

We all know that , but you can dream - anyway just one final for thr the Mileras , Phillipou's , Owen's , Windhager , Sharman , King , Caminiti , Higgins , Battle , Stockers , Clark , Byrne , Coffields will only work wonders for there development and who knows it could turn into 2 finals.
Well Premium you've given some of our boys the Gary Ayes treatment, turning individuals into plurals. If only it was that easy..............!!

Another one there the coaches saw the game very differently from each other. Surprising both Nas and Butler only got votes from 1 coach.

How did Newcombe not get a vote?

I'm going to give RtB the benefit of doubt here. Not giving NWM votes speaks volumes of someone. Baffling.

Nas particularly. Butler was good but not incredible.

How good is Owens with 25 and Nas with 19 coaches votes in their second seasons.

I can see plenty of positives, im just not gonna go flog myself stupid over a 5 goal win against the 3rd bottom side on the back of a piss poor month of footy.
Well then you’re the one missing out 😎

There is a great deal to like in how we played yesterday. There were many passages of play that were exciting and unstoppable, except when we'd stuff it up ourselves. After our prolonged mid-season slump, due to injury after injury and the inability to put the same players in the same positions for consecutive weeks to properly get the game plan into gear, it is quite understandable if no Saints fan believed we could turn it around this season.

But we did. Despite all the factors against us we played as well as we have for years for a lot of that game. I think it is unrealistic, considering all the circumstances that have been extensively* (*understatement alert - "obsessively" is correct term) canvassed on BF, to expect much better this year. Our players and coaches have been forced to be creative, innovative and "experimental" before the first game of the season. And every game since. The simple fact that we are able to turn it on like yesterday we did shows enormous courage and belief. We got a lot of things right, and still got reamed by many umpiring decisions.

Among the many highlights yesterday was something I don't think I've seen at all this year, but which would terrorise any opposition coach/team. Gresh, Higgins and Butler all sprinting together down the forward flank into the 50 sharing the ball by hand. You just knew it would result in a goal, but who it would be was the mystery. Anyone of them could kick it and it seemed they had the shared understanding that the person who got to take the shot would be whoever was in the best possible position to do so. To me that was team first footy coaching drilled into action, as, let's be real here, Higgo, Gresh and Butler running towards goal with a footy would be like herding cats. Selfish, indulgent cats!

What does that game mean to the rest of the season? Belief, that's what. The players know they actually can do it. The problem, of course, is which players get to do it as yet again we are going to lose at least a couple of the important starting 22 from yesterday.

Geez Cobra ruining a good thread with common sense. You're no fun at all.

Nah great post and there was numerous points it was similar yesterday. Perfect? No. Good. Yes. Want it repeated time and again. Yes. Expecting it to be? Not yet. The journey with this young group will be fun when they turn it on.

I know we are not beating Collingwood in a GF with the current team.

I mean, look, I know it's a long shot, but it's not inconceivable that Moore, de Goey, Pendlebury and both Daicos boys all go down in the first quarter, leaving them a man down and no bench.

I'd love to see us make finals if only to get a game into the youngsters with the finals crowd/pressure ... great for their growth ... and if they happened to win in week one, then they can take a free hit at the next one.

No point praying for failure on top of past failures ...

Caminiti with another 10kg of muscles gives me prime Drew Petrie vibes

Caminiti with another 10kg of muscles, and his tendency to take no :poo: from defenders makes me worry a little that he'll skip right past Petrie and into big bad Barry Hall territory ...

... "When all you have is rage, every defender looks like Brent Staker"

As an aside, I think I called Caminiti taking a swing at Sicily in the preview thread ...
