Given Jack Riewoldt is just not kicking goals recently (0,0,1,1,1 recently including against 2 bottom 3 teams) IMO he should be the selfless decoy/defensive role on one of Lever and May. Jack is not good enough anymore to be a number 1 KPF target, but because he's Jack Riewoldt his name will still command one of Lever or May as his opponent. Given that, his best value for the team would be to try and drag them away as much as possible from where we actually plan to kick the ball (e.g. decoy and dummy leads) and his sole focus should be just to not let his opponent mark the ball. E.g. every time he stops an intercept mark from either Lever or May, that's a huge win for us.

I don't know if Jack is capable of playing this role mentally or if he still thinks he's the main man, but it's clear as day he can't play that role anymore.

Just likes saying loose
I am sure if I could be bothered looking over his history if still available, He would not have us winning a game including this week. Onto team selection if short is available straight in, otherwise would not make to many changes.

Not the greatest clip to demonstrate how a hamstring is going, vision doesn't include any explosive speed so it's hard to know if he's even right to go.

Winning this week would be big for our finals chances. I'd like for us to take a scalp like Melbourne just to show we might not just be making up the numbers come September.

Also I hate Sunday games.

Sunday games are one thing, 3:20pm is the worst part. Beating Melbourne will make it worthwhile, let's hope we can get it done.

3:20 is especially bad because we have to cop channel 7 commentary.

Tight for spots this week. This is what I'd run with but tbh I can't see Pickett or McIntosh going out so I'm worried Banks and Cumberland won't get a crack which would be disappointing.

fb- Broad, Young, Vlastuin
hb- Rioli, Balta, Short
c- Ross, Prestia, Banks
hf- Bolton, Riewoldt, Dusty
ff- Mansell, Miller, Baker
r- Soldo, Taranto, Hopper

i/c- Grimes, Cumberland, Graham, Cotchin
sub- Coulthard

Gee selection is going to be tough for the next couple of weeks.

This week
Short and Bauer presumably available off of injury this week.
Bauer did nothing to warrant being brought back through VFL, especially with a bye this week.
Cumberland kicking 6 in the VFL. Hard to ignore.
MRJ arguably second best on in the VFL.

No real bad performances in the AFL. Mansell and Pickett likely the only ones under a bit of pressure.
Coulthard's impact as the sub will likely see him remain the sub or be promoted to a full game.

Next week
Nank back from suspension with Soldo performing well and with a level of intensity I haven't seen from him before will be interesting to see how match committee deal with that from a structure perspective.
We have had Trezise and Sonsie putting in very solid performances in the VFL for a number of weeks now and the bye has come at a shocking time for them.

I don't envy match committee in the slightest.
