We're all from somewhere else, I think you'll find genuine interest in the club is all we care about.
Yeah, though I think in the short term the more people we can get to have the Giants as their "second team" the better. It will probably take a generation before we change the game in nsw. I have no idea why rugby is so popular in our country when we have our own unique game that is objectively way more entertaining.

Thankfully when we are in full flight we have a very attractive spectacle which should help us gain more supporters imo.

My belief is our recent improvements have a lot to do with S Cognilio returning. He is arguably our most important player (Kelly the other). Also most underrated player. You couldn't meet a nicer guy and he has future captain written all over him! The team appear to have woken with his return. Feeling more confident vs the mutts than 2 weeks ago. He could get the hard tag on JJ?

Absolutely on Cogs. I've been hanging out for his return because of both his tackling and pressure but also because he lets everyone play one position further out from the inside work - Shiel can get and go more, Whitfield and Kelly receive the ball in space instead of congestion and so on.

He could get the hard tag on JJ?
No, Cogs is the wrong position to hard tag JJ, and would be a misuse of his skills. Would be more likely to tag Bont within the inside contest if Leon chose to do that, which he normally doesn't tend to. But Bont tends to drift around a lot, go forward etc, so hard tagging doesn't seem to work well. Reid has tagged before, but can't see him cracking the team just to do it on JJ. Not sure MdB (if he stays in) has the speed to go with JJ; otherwise Zac Williams thrown forward or Dev Smith the options (although I don't think they've been given a hard tagging role previously). Dev's good tackling display from the Melbourne game is heart-lifting - we've been waiting to see that hard defensive forward game from him for a while.

The selection situation is as much a part of the battle as the match itself. GWS has better talls - both forward & back - but with Jezza out & Patton still to prove his fitness (I know Leon said 98% but he could be foxing) we could rethink our lineup. Bulldogs' strength is in their smaller players. Their board is in a discussion about whether both Cloke and Redpath should play, or drop one especially if Stringer comes back in (which I think that Bevo would be tossing up also - they never fire when they have too many talls). Their forward setup does matter to our defensive setup - do we need to adjust our four tall defenders? I suspect Leon won't like doing that. And with the forward line, do we go with just Patton & Lobb & the small forwards (plus mids) who got the job done against Demons? Another tall (HH) could stretch the Bulldog tall defenders - especially with Easton Wood out - or it could just make us too tall to stop their rebounding defenders (like JJ) where they get a lot of their pointscoring from. Of course, leaving out HH (assuming Patton returns) but keeping our normal defensive lineup does allow one of the tall defenders to go forward, just to shake things up.

Cogs being back has been massive. Cannot be underestimated how much of an impact he has on the side.

If fit I think you'll find JJ is playing half forward these days with occasional stints in defence. Zac Williams the most probable matchup IMO.

Naah
We want Zac running free as a rebounder, Bulldogs might choose that matchup but cant see us doung it. Toby harasses him early because he's shown weakness, and it's worthwhile testing him. If he plays forward then the zone deals with him.

Was just thinking of someone with the pace to go with him.

It was a legitimate question. You've lost to St.K and Carlton at Etihad, just wondering what it is about that ground you seem to struggle with?

And we've had a shit year but sitting in 7th spot. I seem to recall doing some damage from that spot last year...
Won't be there after Friday Pound Pup

Yoi're a marginal finals prospect at best, with a glaring deficiency in quality talls. Not interested in justifying ourselves to you in any way.
In general your supporters and BF community have given up the right to the benefit of the doubt with an appalling culture.
No other club on BF spends pages on their board attacking other clubs posters personally as yours does in the "opposition supporters" thread in a truly disgraceful and cowardly way. Copying posts to a board with an unlevel playing field so you cant be called to account.
Melbourne are the only other club with a similar thread I've seen but they have the class to attack ideas and not people. The general culture of your board suggests to me your supporters are many generations of evolution away from that.
I would generally see the need to treat posters as individuals but in your clubs case I think doubt is entirely appropriate.

Lol, Apart from the few that actually provide decent feedback and discussion the rest just make me laugh... can't wait to show you up for what you are! Bunch of plastic show ponies who can't handle the heat.. Bring it on this time you wont get gifted a free kick and 50m penalty with minutes to go to win you the game and we won't be kicking double the amount of behinds like we did that day either.. The game is for points only, but it feels like its going to be soo much more.... Can't wait!
Smart move slinging abuse on our board.
You're an absolute genius and you opinions should clearly carefully considered.Your stay will be sadly short though.

Missed the sarcasm? Lol.
Have you seen the thread I mentioned on their board?
Objectively it's not difficult to predict it will cause BF problems at some point. Online Bullying and harassment is becoming a focus in the big picture.
It wont be me because I dont care enough and will pick the fights I choose to give time and effort to. At some point someone will though.

Well it only took until the second page for the shit fight to start, jeez this site depresses me sometimes.
Anyway i just wanted to say i think this mini rivalry our two teams have is great for both clubs and whenever i see players from either side talking about it they seem to suggest theres a little extra intensity which is when footballs at its best. Hopefully theres a few more finals battles coming up in the next few years, to really cement the rivalry.
Looking forward to Friday night eveything to play for, should be a cracker!

Lucky it is only one game, although it was only minimal contact it looked to me at first glance a lot worse
With the Selwood injury Duncan for 1 and Hawkins gone for 2 games Geelong will be lucky to be top 4 as they have the Tigers then Pies and lastly the Giants travel to Geelong
I've Mummy shape up to whack his oponent often and it looks a bit like a forearm jolt in wrestling without the pretending i think he realised he'd got it wrong and was leading with elbow to Gawns head and tried to pull back. Could have been a lot worse

Opposition supporters
  • First and foremost, we welcome opposition supporters and are more than happy to have you here provided you are willing to add something to the board.
  • Remember where you are, this is the GWS Giants board and the moderators and regular posters will not take kindly to posters coming onto the board and throwing excrement into the fan.
  • Trolling will not be tolerated in any instance. There’s a place for trolling and we all know where it is.
  • Any derogatory labeling in the vein of "plastic franchise", "fake club/supporters" etc will result in a sanction.
  • Giants posters are free to show arrogance or over-confidence in their team as this is their board. Criticism of Giants posters for their inflated views on their own team is not necessary nor will it be tolerated.
  • If a GWS supporter has been playing up on your team’s board or other boards, have it dealt with by the moderators of that board by reporting any infringing posts. The Giants board is not the place for retaliation.
