The quotes that really stood out to me and should be imprinted on any recruit to the Lions beacuse they couldnt be more apt which I pulled apart from that article:
Ryan Lester: "If I went back to the VFL and spat the dummy, I'd probably have been out of the club three or four years ago," he said. Lester is realistic about where he sits in the pecking order and doesn't take the rollercoaster journey to heart.

"When I was younger and in and out of the team you can get caught in that trap of comparing yourself to other players that are playing, but it's important for me, particularly as a leader of the club, that I'm supportive of those guys," Lester said in May.

"I don't know how many more times I'm going to play, so just make sure I go out there and really enjoy it.

"I know I can play at AFL level. It's just a matter of showing that when I get out there and not worrying about next week and maybe someone coming in for my spot."

Danny Daly on Ryan Lester on the simple reason for Lester's longevity. "When he plays at AFL level, we know he can do the job, but the other part is his off-field stuff," Daly said. "He's in our leadership group, he always gets voted in. He's a fantastic person to have around the club. "We know if he's not playing AFL, he's basically captaining our seconds. "As a human being, he's one of a kind. You can't have enough of them around the club, and it keeps getting him contracts."

Daly said it was Lester's ability to connect the entire club that held him in such high regard "Not just the playing group, but staff, he has a great ability to connect with everyone at their level. "He's forever having conversations with staff, admin, board members, players, me, 'Fages' (coach Chris Fagan), the playing group. "From Jaspa Fletcher to 'Zorks' (his brother-in-law), he can have conversations at the level they need to have them at.

"He's got great care and empathy for people and he's always willing to help them. "You're mindful of the culture of your place and what individuals bring. He plays good footy when he plays, but you can't buy what he brings off the field for our footy club." "It's his spot until his form drops off – it's going to be hard for us to not pick him," Daly said.

Odds are probably stacked against him at this stage, but from afar, I see a bit of Ryan Lester in Jaxon Prior. When he does come in, he flies the flag for teammates and always seems committed, hence why I've always been a fan of Prior. Seems a popular guy at the club too.

Windhager not hassling Neale will help but i guess Ross Lyon will send someone to him.

Will we run with a defender as the sub again with Andrews back.
We may not, so either McKenna or Brain may miss out.

If that happens, will we keep Smith in the side as the sub or go with some run in Reville.

Andrews in is a given.

The subs from our last 8 games all being wins. Four of the 8 were small defenders.
McKenna, Reville, Reville, Morris, Fletcher, Brain, Answerth (Saints), Answerth.

Not much chat on here about this game, does that mean we are ultra confident or the opposite?
The one thing that has me a little worried is that if you look across all these threads everyone's talking about how well we're going ,how well certain players are going.

We've got 4 tough games coming up . I'm sure the wise heads at the club will be driving home the message we can't take any one of them for granted.

Great post. Jaxon Prior may well be my next project player. I like him a lot. He is what I call a ‘pure footballer’.

We will absolutely need to run someone with Wanganeen-Milera. Callum Ah Chee ideally. Similar to the role we commit to the likes of Saad, Blakey, Dawson etc.

I guess Dunkley or Berry to Steele.

Morris has

Bez to Hill? Hill has hurt use before although only 11 possies on the weekend

Steele is a good player but not really taggable in the normal way, basically plays like dunks?

Yeah I only mentioned Steele because we did send someone to him last time.

Good call on Hill. He and NWM are probably their two biggest threats on transition.

It's always satisfying when a player can go to the ressies for awhile, really improve and come back and make an impact. Shows great character.

Interesting thing about the tightness of the ladder

We win 4 - close to guarantee second
We win 3 - close to guarantee second
We win 2 - close to guarantee won’t be top 4

Of course weird losses could change that, but it shows we are right there, but cannot slip up

I think a win this week and loss for the pies would be massive, because it would make round 23 and round 24 games against a cooked opponent

Check out Cam Rayners interview today; if he’s indicative of all players, then the players are all very well aware of the tightness of the competition and the implications of a loss. Doesn’t guarantee we’ll win our last four but it’s good hearing that they’re fully aware of what’s on offer and how detrimental a loss could be. That’s what I got from his interview anyways.

"It's his spot until his form drops off – it's going to be hard for us to not pick him," Daly said.

Discussion over, Lester is best 22 according to the club. Time to let the #t#thepeopleschampionet on with it without his own fans rubbishing him.

My daughter and I booked our flights to Melbourne today - not confident at all - much
We got on rex this morning to book then saw they were suspended on the stock exchange. Will wait for the announcement prior to booking with them or go with a different airline. They have the best transfer/swap flight policy.

Aisle 12 Level 3 best spot to sit. On the wing. That said, we will be in the forward pocket, just goal side of the players race, ground level.

We were in that ground level positron last year and it was ... ordinarily.

People in the rows behind us (like a bus load) were at their first ever game. Kept asking people to sit down when exciting things were happening and what the rules were. Mood killers.

It just might have been one of those nights. We were in the pocket for the Footscray game this year and it was great. Go for aisle 12 then. I’m ridding up where to go at the minute.

Listening to Daniel Hoyne on SEN last night, St Kilda is elite in a number of important categories at the moment including the all important front half turnover game where they sit 2nd. Definitely not a team we can just show up and beat.
