I didn't think glass was that good on the weekend to be honest. Interested to see if doc continues to play forward or if he shuffles back this week with poppy back

It's interesting to guess an answer to your question. You would think they have to swing Duryea back, but it's tough to say. If they don't then what? Poppy to the back? He's pretty damned useful up front. Maybe O'Brien or Schoenmakers go back?

Is he contracted for 2018?

Handy to get him to 100 games, just in case he's not here next year?

he's not
he's out of contract and up for free agency

Hmm. Does this mean that Wrighty has his eye on a kid with barbering skills? Is there a special test for that at the combine, these days? :D

Anyway, congrats to Doc on 100 games in the Brown & Gold!

Great move to select o'meara. Smart move leading into 2018.

He has had plenty of recovery time and produced in the seconds instantly. Players of his ilk don't need more time.

Poppy needs a positive end on a generally disappointing season by his standards.

His positive will be the additional $$$$$$$$$$ in his wallet while moving to GCS, GWS or WCE for pick 88-99 in the draft!

You think he is goneski?

Is this seriously on the cards? I hope not. I think he is excellent in his position and what he brings.

It's possible, Hawthorn could surprise us all and not move anyone on...... but I think some swifty list management will be undertaken at the end of the season.

Fair call. I just felt he had more to give. However the hfc have understood list balance since the summer of 2004 better than any other club.

I had no idea POPS was on the chopping block though...

I don't know for sure and I'll stop speculating in the match day thread :p.

He's 30 (I think) & at 31 next year, will not likely play in our next Flag.

The kid we trade him for (or Pick with the traded Pick) might, or at least contribute to it.

You're right - Popeye is exceptional at what he does, but he hasn't been this year & may be even less so next year. I'm sure he'll looking amazing with GWS next year (if he goes) & will likely get another flag & pay rise with them (again, if he goes).

That aside, it will be great to see him have a run around & remind us of how good he looks when fit.

We are not playing because of finals or any other superfluous reason. We're playing him because he is ready to go. It will also be a springboard for him to attack this coming pre season having played in the afl

I'm sure clarko had to talk Poppy into staying at the hawks and not accept the lions 4 year offer. I'm happy to see him running out for the mighty hawks this week.

Jaeger is obviously ready for senior footy, he played 3 quarters with ease in the VFL last week and people also need to remember he was in full training for about 3-4 weeks before he played in the VFL.

Interesting insight from the AFL website:

Quick question for those in the know. Could Glass's omission be in order to get more BHH games into him?

I think I'm field experience is more valuable to him right now, so maybe it's similar to what we're all thinking with Jaeger - drop him back to BHH so he can play 6 games instead of two? But I'm not sure whether he and to play more BHH games, or less AFL seniors games, to be eligible?

Question "Hodgeyroad", It would seem that if JOM plays the last 2 games in the AFL then he is ineligible for the VFL final series; is this so?

By standard rules yes, but we could make an individual case like we did for Cyril. Doubt it would get accepted this time though.

A side note its the blues 30th anniversary of 87 granny all the old players will be at the game tomorrow
Boo
Ripped my heart out that game
I think I took that one harder than the losses to Essendon in 84/85 even though I despise the bombers more
I remember watching the 87 game as a kid at my aunties house, pigged out in those Kingston biscuits and throwing them up when we lost ( drama queen as a kid, I cracked it when we lost a game let alone a GF)
Haven't had a Kingston since !!
