Dare I say it, but LESTER WAS FANTASTIC AGAIN THIS WEEK!

16 Disposals
100% Disposal Efficiency - Lester’s field kicking was sublime.
Team high 8 marks
3 Tackles
Stood up, took the hits, forced stoppages,
Lester was very good.

Think Lohmann for Gunston next week will help to strengthen our team
I know this won’t surprise anyone, but I would rather Lyons. We desperately need an additional inside mid.

In other news, Starcevich needs to improve his kicking. Come finals, we can’t have him picking out opponents who are in space and hitting them on the chest.

We played poorly but hung in there and got 4 points…that’s why it’s a good win 👍
Nah, we have to destroy the opposition every week and win by 10 goals or we are shite according to some. How we have managed to be right in the running for 2nd on the ladder with 2 games remaining is a mystery... we don't even deserve to make finals.

Hughy BOG for us. Lester close 2nd. Blanket over a few more. Andrews, Bailey and Cameron were my other 3 votes. Wonder if we go Fort for Gunston ?
I hope Gunston’s injury is not too severe. We can cover for him though because we looked so much better in the forward line with the two talls and Charlie Cameron in space. I think next week we need to replace Gunston with a midfielder. Dev Robertson was great today. He has to be a LOCK for the rest of the season.

Was iced, strapped and then in a brace.

Would be surprised if we he is right for next week and truthfully, not sure if he's a good fit against the fast moving Pies anyway.

What’s with the negativity ?
We won ! 6 day break, longest trip in the afl the week before … few players who are probably limping, even comp. Go to the other clubs pages … they think we are in it. We are in it. Second now pending some results. There’s only one loss I won’t accept and that was the dees by a point. Others we didn’t turn up and got out coached. But we turn up for the good teams and we will next week against the magpies. There’s a few players dying for a week rest. Magpies will be without Daicos and Moore for a bit … dees missing fritsch and Petty, McKenzie for Port. We have a 1st year player out (not disrespecting Ashcroft but our midfield depth can cover for him).
For the record we are still undefeated at home … one game to make it the first time ever.

If you’re not a September member are you even a member?
Not sure what your point is re the highlighted or if i have misread but we are not September members here in Victoria but i have been a member since Lions were formed in 1996 when we lost Fitzroy. We have had family memberships when kids come along for the last 16 years but unfortunately extra payments for a september member is something everyone sometimes cannot afford. I still consider our family very much members even though we dont have the september member

It is strange how perception and narrative work.

A- Magpies win multiple close games and they are lauded for their excellence.

B- Lions win close games, shows they are no chance in finals.

Got me beat.

I thought it was a great win coming off the longest road trip in footy and a 6 day break.

I was very impressed with Hipwood live at the game, really busts a gut at every contest and runs his backside off, Wilmot the same.

My Fab5 were Hipwood, Cameron, McCarthy, Wilmot, McCluggage.
The negativity is ridiculous .

It’s a tongue in cheek comment that I think we are going to make the grand final and get your tickets and get up and about. Not a personal dig at you for not being a real
Supporter…. You don’t need to be personally offended and read too much into a one liner.

Rayner - 1 handball in the last quarter.

We can’t keep waiting for him to fulfil his potential.
I agree 100% - he should be dropped. He had the same sort of numbers in the Melbourne game. He can’t keep getting MULLIGANS. It is not fair.

Finishing the Lions game on slight delay running into the Matildas game has left my heart in a rough state. Way too much stress

I'm very dead.

Adelaide is a good team that is better than its ladder position so not whinging about a win. But gee we were terrible in the last part of the 4th and lucky to hold on.

We've got to find something in the next few weeks because we are crawling into september currently.

My highlight today was the quick transition and laser like kick from Lester that spilt the corridor in two and landed in the arms of a teammate inside 50.

Are we crawling into September or are we saving ourselves for September?

Time will tell.

How exciting.

Yes. I know I'm annoying.

Had the Matildas on TV and our game on Kayo. Dear god I need medication now.

Definitely hope you are correct and I'm wrong. Port has lost twice to the crows, dees and pies barely got over the line against them across 3 games so getting a win is a good result.

However some of the fundamentals are trending the wrong way. As much as we were unlucky to lose by a point to the dees, we've barely held on the last 2 weeks. Maybe that's two good character building wins and we are reserving our best punch for finals - only time will tell.

Had us on the TV via kayo and the matildas on a second screen on optus sport (slightly closer to real time than 7 plus) before switching over to the TV for the penalty shootout. Thank goodness we won't be on at the same time as the final (or the third place playoff) next weekend.

Happy to bank the 4 points.

That sinking feeling came over me half way through the last quarter when it was plain to see we have this cue in the rack tactic that despite all evidence to the contrary we seem to think magically it's going to work against good opposition.

We had a lot of tired boys out there. Once we sabotaged our own momentum it was almost impossible to wrest any initiative back and there were some brave efforts there ,out on our feet , we clung on.

Let's face it we were very lucky to win but all that's immaterial now because we're in the top 4 , just keep looking forward.

It's ours to win if we can freshen a few guys up. No one else is doing anything special. Whether we're good enough or not if we come in to finals fit and well is the question.

Do we have a heavy training load atm? Would any of us know?

The top 4 sides all look a little shaky atm.

Have they all thought, top 4 is pretty secure, we don't care where we finish, implement a heavy training load now & after the pre finals bye we'll be cherry ripe.
