Sidebottom playing a run-with role will potent players of similar body shape (ie Gulden, Neale) is genius. It makes so much sense...

These are the real types of footballers that keep our great game so interesting.

Fly is an excellent coach - he will keep learning and listening to ideas

Posters who get down on this team for 2025 lose sight that '22 to '24 has shown we can adapt

Saw the posts about tackles/frees and just about to comment on their technique.
I won’t label it a Ginnivan, but they were dropping their knees and leading with their head.
Joe had two goes in one play in 1st and ump. paid the second one.
It’s the precise reason why I never liked Ginnivan.

Did anybody else notice that the Brions do “Ginnivans”. They drop the knees at high contact to draw free kicks…. And they get them! 🤬🤬
They even resort to charging at the oncoming player head first to draw frees and get them.

Ideas only work if you have cattle that are on board and play for the team and not themselves.
Limited sample size ( 2 games ) but if Steele can keep this up, it could launch us for 2025 in a big way.

It's amazing how we can have different perceptions of players from other clubs.

A lady at my work who I now sit near is a massive Lions fan and we have been talking footy for the past maybe 6 weeks.

Anyway, Zac Bailey is one of my favourite non Collingwood players - just like the way he moves and is a good finisher etc. The lady at work was like she finds him so frustrating as he always gets caught holding the ball. His awareness isn't great etc. I had never really noticed that side of his game.

Sure enough yesterday in the last quarter, IQ mows down Zac Bailey for holding the ball lol
Got the goal of the day illegally in the grand final after running into Mason coxs protected space and not getting pinged for a 50 metre penalty. Thank Christ we won otherwise that will have joined the long list of grand final umpiring mistakes that have cost us flags

Ginnivan did not fit the Fly culture. We don’t cheat. We play fair.

Just look at how we deal with concussions as opposed to other clubs.
Spot on.
That’s why he made him stay in the VFL to sort out his game.
Even after the GF he was comparing him to Bobby.

Gerard Whateley is strangely silent about that one.

I keep telling everyone we scarred Brisbane last year

Was confirmed when we beat them at the Gabba for the first time in forever

3 in a row against them now after they had beat us like 7 in a row
Telling people in the game day thread that Schultz was crap, actually doesn’t help your credibility on any issue.

Wonder what Longmire thinks about that one. Strange how the advantage at the end is alluded to, but not this one or McCluggage being out of bounds when he set up one of their last 2 goals.

Herald Sun today named Moore as the most under the pump player in the competition going into 2025.

A reigning premiership captain should be flying high. But the Pies are on the skids this year and much of the heat for that has been on Moore. His output has been well down and the loss of Nathan Murphy has caused trouble in defence. He’s averaging 2.5 disposals, 1.7 marks, and 1.3 rebound 50s per game less than he did in 2023, and he has been caught out trying to peel off his direct opponents for easy balls too many times. With Murphy gone he’s been needed to play a lockdown role, but that’s not his strength. Leading the biggest club in the land back up the ladder is a big task.

Yeah but the Herald Sun is full of shit.

Sure Moores job is a little harder without Murphy. I think a bigger factor is lack of pressure up the ground at times.

Rather have that pressure than that facing 100s of blokes not knowing if they will ever get a regular game

A reason why Darce is a premiership captain and AA backman is that he won’t disintegrate because a newspaper wants clicks

It’s just noise

And the last thing Darcy would be reading is the Herald Sun.. 🤣

He’s hardly under the pump. What dross.

He’s been fantastic the last month. He’s hardly lost a contest.

Not sure if I blurred two games last night- ours and Saints one. Sorry, I just love it when Cats lose.

Anyhow, did we cop a free against for contact with an Umpire and happened in Saints game too or was it just the Saints game? 🤣
No, you didn't blur the 2 games. We copped a bizarre free against for umpire contact (paid by another umpire, not the one who was contacted), and the same free was paid against the Saints. I always enjoy the Cats losing too :)
