Freo resting players = won't affect the outcome of the final eight. Can't go up or down.
Norf resting players = Affects the final eight. Tanking.

Looking at Norf's run in the second half of the season - Played 2 sides above them in 10 weeks. Beat Freo and beaten by the dogs. Effectively, they have the easiest run of any side in the comp. They need to rest players after 2 hard games ? That's not a professional build up to a finals campaign. Clearly this affects the integrity of the game. Gives us an easy win. Allows Dimma to not show his cards in round 23, and save them for when we play them in the Elimination final.

So norf are doing us a favor. Also have players "rested" is like a "bye". Teams don't do well after a bye. They are the laughing stock of the AFL.
It's because they're old

That's where the AFL got this all wrong. Norf and Freo should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute for resting so many players. In Norfs defence ( if there is one) why wouldn't you bring a bloke in to rough up someone when it's a better than even chance that you play them again next week. Look out for Sam Mitchell warriors tomorrow night....
That's ok prowler we can bring thomas and bicky in for the elimination final for any payback necessary

Our record against your mob speaks for itself.
I like our record against Norf.
Biggest winning margin 168 points
Norf Melbourne’s first 18 games against Richmond ended in defeat
Most ever goals kicked by a Tiger player was against Norf. 14 goals

I'm trying to work out if Boomer is more disappointed that Scott didn't leave him out of the side (because he's so important) OR if he's more than happy to be playing so he can get another game under his belt.

I suspect the latter.

Please play these flogs back to back. Please.

The only north player that worries us is petrie, I suppose he is playing. means we can pummel him this week and and north will be a shambles next week. bunch of morons who cant even tank properly.
To be fair, when I heard they were resting some of their stars this week I thought they meant Schima, Blight and co were staying home instead of going to the game.

The deluded minnows think taking losing form from limping into the finals in 8th spot is good preparation

Some more stats from 2012...

GWS went 2-20 that year with a percentage of 46.2%, the 9th lowest in the history of AFL. If you exclude games before 1901, it's the 2nd worst ever, after St Kilda 1955.

After squeaking past them, North (8th) lost an EF by 96 points to West Coast...

... who lost a semi-final to Collingwood...

... who lost a prelim to Sydney...

... who did actually manage to upset the Hawks.

But if only Firrito had had a rest against GWS, North totes would have gone all the way.

I feel similar. $50 to upgrade tickets isn't huge coin, but I was looking forward to a big match and they do this. I feel like I have wasted my money. We better destroy them in the final, its the only thing that will make it worth it. That or Gold Coast pull off a miracle.
I think you have every right to be massively annoyed. AFL have integrity as a key plank in their platform. Hard to see it with decisions such as this

Another conspiracy theory, I wonder if the AFL knew, were given a heads up this was a possibility hence the refusal to change the game to the G?

Nah because if other results went against them it might not have been a dead rubber. No way of knowing that until last Sunday night.

If we had done to them what North have just done to us, I would genuinely feel ashamed. I would feel like my club had just sabotaged my finals excitement and the pride that goes with it. Despite 30 years of mostly disappointment, I would not want to play a final series like North are about to. Let the booing begin. Disgraceful.

Can't disagree more.

If the shoe was on the other foot, and as bad as it may be to some, I would hope that my club would do what they need to do to make sure the players are cherry ripe come finals and if that's to rest players so be it.

You can't yearn to get the club back to the ruthlessness of the Tom Hafey, Greame Richmond, Ian Wilson days while at the same time have a problem with what North have done.

Needs 21 more games to get to Michael Tuck.

It's typical of the little flog that he puts a game record ahead of his clubs finals game.

Exactly. North have taken a strategic position here that comes with benefits and risks. The key benefit, should they lose as expected, is that they lock in 8th position for order of draft selection. The risk is that it gives Richmond an unexpected opportunity to fine tune its game plan for the finals series rather than engaging in a full on combat situation. I don't subscribe to the paranoia theory of North using this game as an opportunity to rough up our players. This is the 21st century, not the 1970s when we had blokes like Dietterich, Robbie Muir and Dipper etc going nuts. We'll see how successful their plan is on Sunday week.

Apparently the reason North lost by 96 points to the 5th-best team in a 2012 Elimination Final was that they were exhausted from playing GWS, the wooden spooners, the week before.

You might have thought it was just because they were shit.

Brad Scott is such a tool. Biggest excuse ridden sook in the game. Bloke is never happy and I like it that way.

Draft order is determined after finals.
