Did anyone look like they were just having a run with a view to a call up?

Meh ... but that was not the purpose of the exercise. The Point was to get him on the ground for a half, not have him break down and see how he pulled up.
This is a positive.
Apparently according to the cretins who instruct the umpires most rules of the game are now only optionally enforceable at the totally randomised discretion of the umpires. What a disgrace! It is no wonder that fans are pissed off entirely with this continual farcical nonsense.
Watched Friday's game with a NZ former colleague, who has spent years in Melbourne and Sydney, but is a rugby person. Trying to update him on the rules was impossible.
If you add the fact that we have three umpires, with three different interpretations, of very confusing, and often ambiguous rules, it's no wonder the players, and public, are continually confused by umpiring decisions.
Example.
Friend: What's that free for?
Me: That's for a hand in the back (in a marking contest)
Later:
Friend: Isn't that a push in the back?
Me: No. Well, yes, but it wasn't in a marking contest, or the umpire deemed it in the side.
Friend: Is there any sport in the world with as many rules as Aussie rules?
Me: Shut up and watch the game.
At the end my friend said it was the best game he has seen, so we watched Sydney and eagles, and his only comment went like this.
"They would never beat Hawthorn."
Conclusion:
Trying to explain the rules of AFL is on a par of trying to explain the complexities of English grammar to Thai students. We agreed on this.
I know we've used WhiteX as a defensive forward before but do you think he's fast enough to go with Shaw?Coburg played a plus one down back and were very calm with the footy. Given the cattle, Bello was completely out coached by German. German has been around a fair while so that is not a huge sledge.
Howie played a bullocking inside mid role. Played it very well but that is not really the Lewis role. Good work rate.
In terms of who could get a call up. Brand. We need one more tall. He is it and he's been very composed.
Next one was Miles. He lacks a body but he offers run and dash from the backline which is what I feel we are lacking.
WhiteX could be a roughie. He was pretty solid all day and seems to be moving more freely with each outing.
Reckon that would be his only position. I prefer to see Lewis on Shaw as it's funny watching Shaw getting harassed.I know we've used WhiteX as a defensive forward before but do you think he's fast enough to go with Shaw?
