Though when GWS took the foot off the accelerator a little in last week's game, Richmond ran all over them quickly, so we have to man up and not let them run loose otherwise it will be curtains for us.
They still have a good team and will be mighty hard to beat.

Not as much need to rush him back now we have Hayes to support Marshall, it would be nice to have him out there but we can still win without him.

It might mean we can play another tall marking option in our forward line too like Sharman.

I'll be interested to see if Sharman does come back. Seems slightly bizzare if he does given he didn't play VFL, but if Wood isn't giving us what we expected it makes sense. Still not sure why we didn't just play Sharman in the first place if he doesn't even have to re-earn his spot (not that I'm complaining).

Saints have listed Sharman, Long and Highmore as possibles to come in and they were all travelling emergencies last week.

It is fairly silly that they can't align this better.

Was it ETIHAD ? Yes imagine going into any round almost certain you were going to win! It feels so foreign its hard to believe!

I reckon it was still the Telstra Dome in ‘09, might be wrong though.

Can confirm the name change happened between the 08 and 09 seasons

Looks like another week at Sandy for Paddy based off the training jumpers.
Went early on the training jumper :tearsofjoy:

Ratten and the match committee inside Moorabbin now need to determine if they can play mature-age recruit Jack Hayes in the same 22 as Rowan Marshall and Ryder.

Hayes was a revelation in round one, producing a stunning debut performance that attracted five coaches votes – just over a fortnight after he was added to St Kilda's rookie list – and produced a serviceable effort against the Dockers, finishing with 12 disposals, six hitouts and four tackles in the 10-point win.

"We are going to have a look at it [playing all three]. We had a little bit of an experiment here today with being taller and smaller. We will finalise that today. It's going to be touch and go either way.

"Jack's put his best foot forward and played some really good footy for our footy club and the players love playing with him so we will see how that pans out."

I see the media think that Hannerbery is still a vital cog in our squad , but in all reality I think he was written by the off last season and are only waiting now for his contract to expire at the end of the year to get him off the list.
With Geary , Ryder and Hannerbery gone next year it will be interesting with what they do with the extra cash - will they use it to secure our existing players or hunt down a player they may want.

No idea why they keep running that. Realistically he has barely ever played for us. It's like saying your yearly bonus is a vital part of your monthly salary

Dan finally in for surgery. Not knowing the intimate details of course but maybe this could have happened a little earlier?

I can't really see any of those 3 coming into the team , we are at a stage now were they have to keep the team as stable as possible.
Lienert or Wood would be the only 2 that could well be moved but both were not that bad.
They named those 3 last week in case that Covid stuff hit us in the West and we had to have a couple good replacements ready.
The big thing that came out the game last week was Battles performance , he showed he can hold down the key CHB position by clearly out marking Darcy several times who is clearly the taller player.
If Battle keeps gaining confidence where he is during the year he is going to be one hell of a player , it must be remembered Alex Rance was basically the same size as Battle.

I don't like the idea of putting a player straight into the 1sts without playing the previous week unless they are senior player, but Highmore, Sharman and Long are the players listed in our 'in the mix' and all didn't play last week.

I would add to the potential outs Byrnes who hasn't been very good over 2 games.

I'm surprised we haven't listed Connelly in the in the mix article. Seemed to play well in the 2s and we could use him on hbf and wing.

Travelling with covid we will regularly be taking 4 back up players interstate.

These four players are seen as the next in line so will obviously be in the mix despite not playing in the VFL.

More goes into selection than just who played the best VFL game

Yeah I get that, it's just unfortunate when interstate games are played after the vfl game so the travelling emergencies who as you said would be generally the next in line to come in miss playing that week

If it was me , i think i'd play at least 2 on managed time in the VFL.
The fixture makes it very hard.

Probably go. Highmore into the squad.
Sub. Byrnes.
Emg : Windhager. No VFL time.
Emg : Connelly managed VFL time.
Kind of stumped on the last one. Depending on the playing squad, maybe the club can get away with only holding back the 2.

That gives Long and Sharman a game at least.
