There is one passage of play I hope Zac Bailey gets blasted for. He looked at JJ as he ran out the half back and CHOSE not to go with. JJ then set up a shot on goal. Zac was in line when he saw JJ going but didn't go. Story of our night.

Bailey, Clugga, Berry and Zorks need to get into the game. Just passengers so far.
I think Berry has been alright, and Zorko hasn't had the opportunity to get involved yet, but Bailey and Clugga have been off all year so far. That bont tackle on Bailey in particular was excruciating.

That erroneous 50 to Bontempelli was a real momentum swing. Was a couple of weak calls in there. Will just have to hang in there and get some deeper entries.

We just seem to be a team that can only deliver when we have some emotional energy to ride.

When that isn’t there we don’t seem to at least fall back to a baseline of solid fundamental footy like the great teams do, we drop the bundle.

Ashcroft attending zero centre bounces is my biggest takeaway…. 🤯
Been wing every time. Honestly impressed seeing how much he is getting manhandled by the dogs but is still one of few mids working hard around the pack every single contest.

There is definitely some very inconsistent umpiring at my end of the ground. Even the dogs fans around me are surprised at some of the decisions.

Still to only be down by 8 from that effort is not bad. We've had some chances too. Just seem to have no way to get the ball in a true goal scoring position. Too many balls to the pockets or unlikely shots from distance by guys who should know better. We really lack in forward craft for such a talented (but not smart) bunch of forwards

Ashcroft is a gun ,always trying to take the best option.

Dunno how anyone could criticise him

If you want to look at loopy kicks and poor disposal start with Bailey, Hipwood ,Berry ,Coleman on occasions , Rayner.
Ashcroft has been good all things considered.

Not sure about the criticism of his kicking but he does some brilliant things with the ball. His flick handballs and that bullet inside 50 (to Hipwood I believe) are examples of this.

Yeah desperately need to get on top in the middle of the ground, without winning that part of the game it's hard for us to generate good looks at goal. Doesn't help our forwards have failed to capitalize, but it's still a 50/50 game right now.

Defenders have done a great job so far at defending, but Coleman seems to be getting cloaked without Rich there.

To be fair our effort and application has been there, just not our skills. We fix that and we'd have been up by a few goals that quarter.

The ball just isn't bouncing for us at all tonight. Bailey early on in the 1st had a flukey bounce. Who knows what happens if he runs onto that

All the small half backs are kicking sidewise to Payne who has taken over the "complete stop and look around" routine, then panic and then kick long or tried going for the impossible. Rinse n repeat.

We need run from backline and Payne seems to be too slow to react in ball movement chain. Only kick which was creative and went to space in second quarter was from Mckenna.
