According to Google it’s a cross between some sort of grease nipple and a former UK Prime Minister

Is that Theresa May?

Seriously, I don’t care as much about the game outcome as others.
Love to win, won’t be disappointed if we lose.
So far this year, this team has demonstrated commitment.
I am prepared to offer my own irrespective of the outcome.
You see, Saturday is more than just a game.
It is a celebration of our history, the good and the bad.
This Club is so much a part of my life, and my family’s.
I am going.
I am pumped.
I have not felt this way for a decade.

DougalHoward has the injectors in a tizz over on their board. With zero effort too I might add. An obvious, but inevitable foreshadowing of Saturday’s training run.

The difference in boards is stark. Finger painting over there while we are reaching Michelangelo levels of insight and post quality.

We’re dealing with a special conglomerate over at the airport.
I’m usually all for quality over quantity, but in this case they are bringing neither to the table.

Speaking of table, Saints by 10 goals.

Agree 💯

Really falling in love with the club again

But a win will make it just that little bit sweeter

What's the pass mark for crowd total?
For such a big game for us as a club I'm going to say 60k however really hoping for 70k

depends on the forecast. Supposed be wet no?

I hope your 150th celebration is better than ours. Which was ****in lame at best.

Weve copped some shit over the last few years for our performances in marquee games (Good Friday, Spuds game, think there was another one in 21) so it would be nice to get the monkey off the back in that regard.

Having said that continuing to see that work ethic and defensive pressure as well as the structures and ball movement is the key. 3 games into Ross tenure and that has been the thing thats the most exciting (even more so than the wins). If this keeps up and were actually forcing the guys coming back from injury to earn their spot and playing like a squad who all know the standards required to get a game is so refreshing.

Id love to win on Saturday because it is more than just another game but also seeing the long term future building is even more important than the history IMO.

I've lost IQ points posting over there but they keep responding to me and giving me notifications.

His attitude seemed really poor. I noticed multiple occasions where he wasn't used, or the kick to him was a bit off and he just dropped his head and seemed to sook it up. Didn't get around Caminiti after slotting his first goal either. Not sure if that was because he burnt him, but still if a kid kicks his first ever goal at a crucial stage you get around him no matter what!

However, Ross has mentioned multiple times now that Butler and Higgins are sacrificing their role to make it easier for the kids, so maybe he and butts are doing exactly what Ross wants from a structure point of view.
Not fair to say that Caminiti burnt him. Naz did as well, by choosing very deliberately to kick it to Caminiti.

Funny how despite handily beating Freo/Dogs (with major outs), many think we haven’t beaten anyone of note.

Yet the bombers get over the Hawks and scrap a win against Gold Coast and all of a sudden they’re finals bound.

I’m not saying I want saints to get more acclaim by any means - we haven’t proven much yet - but it’s funny how these things manifest themselves repeatedly.

Anyway, keep on winning / or losing honourably, and I’ll be happy

We beat them in the practice match. They looked ordinary as we did against Melbourne.

Facts stand we have beaten two finalists and go with a similar team on Saturday night.

They have played effectively no one using as a yardstick based on last year.

Essendon have a habit of raining on our parade. Over the last 5 years bar finals we have been a fragile side with heart and passion driving us to wins based on a playing system that no one could really understand and was easy to puncture.

RTB as we expected has brought a uncompromising standard and process and the difference in playing styles, player embracement and commitment is the reason we sacked Ratts.

There are massive pressure and expectations on the players this Saturday....just feel that RTB will handle this in his usual flegmatic way. All the Coaches have been there and done that and understand the Saints Psyche and that will be reinforced this week.

Saints look different and plat different and have a belief in a system and that should hold us in good stead..

Essendon always have high expectations especially in the media but, that was then and it is a different club than 20 years ago.

No Sheedy Hird et al to bring them home in the tight games. We will win in a tight low scoring game 11 goals to 8 goals.

Onward and upwards

I was thinking how we replace Steele's influence through the midfield? I don't think one player alone can fill the gap, I believe we are going to have to play both Bytel & Windhager. So who makes way for them, it will have to be one of Butler or Higgins with Bytel & Windhager rotating forward/midfield. Neither small forwards have been in great form and I think Bytel & Windhager can fill the void.

If RTB wants to bring back Webster then perhaps Byrnes get moved as the sub & Paton rotated through the wings.
Someone mentioned Ross and Windy tandem filling Steele’s role. Ross providing that run, link up work and ability to be all over the ground and windy doing the inside work

Probably spending too much time in this thread last night. We've given them too much ammo.
Wtf is this bloke on about. 😐

Andrew Basset mentioned it on SEN this morning - says he wishes we were able to decide our own fixture!
Would have done the previous two years very differently 🤣

Apparently the Pou would be playing VFL if they'd picked him. :tearsofjoy:

Classic big club bias. Going under the radar is a good thing. The one thing that the media hasn't picked up on is that teams are moving the ball slowly as they can't find a hole through our zone, we're basically forcing teams in to playing how we want them to play. The pundits just seem to keep going on about how the Dogs and Dockers chose to play slowly, rather than recognising that its a consequence of us having a fantastic defensive structure.

Absolutely, and put the rest of the league on notice.

Just hoping Saturday night's game is a good game of football. Have been asked to go but think it's going to be a cold, wet, horrendous s**t show of a game of football especially after Ed Sheerhans concert is more important than the integrity of AFL players health.

Zerk-Thatcher to play on Camminiti, Laverde to play on Phillipou, Redman to bath Jack Higgins if he even gets picked. The coal face will be where it is won or lost and right now Darcy Parish is right up there as one of the best in the league.

Look at all those matchups!

Not sure the Bombers have a back man hardworking enough to keep up with Mitchito who ran the same miles as Brad Hill last week.

And you’ve conveniently brushed right over Zaine Jedi Deadeye Cordy.

“Hurt, losing this one will.”

Let’s be honest. Essendon fans are still confident the Saints will finish in the bottom half of the bottom eight this year.

You’re soon to find out why Freo and Dogs fans are eating their own. When the Saints boys make your mob look lazy and pedestrian you’ll be questioning everything as well, especially without Jack Steele.

George you should change the thread title to have ECI in it.

Living up here in Qld where the only games live are yesterday’s replays of Brisbane & Gold Coast, I watched a bit of the last half of Suns vs Essendon game.
Seriously & without wearing my St Kilda heart on my sleeve, we will beat them by the length of the Flemington straight.
Ten goals plus, in a real percentage booster.
I thought the same last year but we were creamed , even a out of form fat Stringer got in the act.
It was the game we spiraled out of control.
I do think we will win but if you don't bring it on the day you can lose to anyone.

Your body shape not from that side of the family then….
Put me on an 1890s diet and I might be… less… of a fat bastard too!

I don’t care so much about the win in a global sense… but if we’re not going to win the flag, the only particular interest I have each season is beating Injectington and Carlscum.

Thus this week is one of great importance to me.

… until we hit end-stage dystopian nihilism and enact The Purge, and I get to go out hunting those from both clubs with impunity…
