Stand / mark rule needs to be tweeked. Too much time between when a player plays on and the ump calls it. Very clearly a step sideways and a faked handball is play on, but we didn’t play to the commonly delayed whistle.

Perhaps it’s as simple as not allowing a teammate inside the protected area either?

Cost us 1 point on the scoreboard and arguably 2 points on the ladder.

The ump refused to give him the ball and Mayne was screaming for it.
It had the hallmark of a player who knew that he cant afford to take too many more hits-----mins later he was downstairs taking the concussion test.
He should have been subbed out of the game and we would have injected a fresh energetic player.
I cant be alone in thinking this was a player who was going in to full self preservation mode knowing his games could well be limited.

His whole game is about self preservation.

Thats why the ball goes backwards or sideways 5 -15 metres everytime he gets it. It ****s up our ball movement and overlap but means he doesnt **** up.

I thought Josh Thomas was decent early on, had his moment throughout.

The problem is we have too many small mids and there’s not enough time on the ball, end up having to rot as a small forward.

We lost it they didn’t win it, yeah umpiring was pathetic but we butchered the ball all night, no system in the middle, hit and hope and with absolute f’ed spuds like

And Elliott is better when marking the ball.

We don’t have any pressure crumbing quick smalls for when it hits the deck. Most decent sides have a couple.

Hine really needs to be moved on.

A forward that doesn't want to kick a goal. What a rabble we are. WHE is not putting in at all. Standing there watching the play multiple times.

He started to walk back as if he was going to take the kick, rightfully thinking it was his to take, but he turned around when we saw Brown had already (greedily IMO) claimed it. He waved it off. Not sure he could have argued with Brown given Brown had already nicked off with the ball.
