Round 3 The Sydney Swans vs. The Richmond Tigers

I've always wished we were like STK and Geelong in the way they don't win, they dominate.

On paper we should win this comfortably, and should have no problems controlling the match.

I am not one that really cares about finishing teams off per se, I would rather us get an advantage into half time / third quarter (like today) and consolidate to reduce risk of injuries etc.

Our footy is all about controlling the tempo of the match, lifting and kicking a winning score when required then consolidating and holding position.

I agree with mase...controlling the tempo of the game is what is what swans football is all about...we don't need to blowout teams, just need to be ahead at the final siren...swans should win comfortably on saturday, can't wait to see them play back at the scg.

This.

A very good game to bring in a couple young players.

If Ronan is fit bring him in. Also would be great to see Vezpremi get a run.

A healthy rotation policy would be great to see.

We have our best 22 on the paddock. We have a lot of new players playing with each other. I say, whilst they are all on the paddock together, we should keep them playing together.

It is nice to dream bringing in someone like Rohan, and no doubt he will get gametime this year. But whilst we are not injured - and playing well, I see no reason to change the team.

The old "If it ain't broke.." needs to apply here. It was a great win today and we looked more cohesive compared to last week, but you don't want to get carried away and mess with good form.

The side should remain settled and focussed and ready to account for the Tigers on the weekend.

Rotating players in round 3 is not an option. Besides, I don't think any player at the moment would be so kind as to yield and give their spot up, knowing that they may not get it back.

Despite the convincing nature of the win there are still a lot of kinks to iron out in the side. In particular, Goodes and Bradshaw haven't seem to have found the same wavelength yet. But when they inevitably click, I'll be very fearful for the defenders of the AFL.

IF we lose this game I will kill myself.

come and post to let us know how it went if we do lose wont you.

Seriously though no injuries no changes. The team looks balanced and performed well as a unit today and most of last week.

We shouldn't be losing a game like this if were going to be finals contenders but beware the team bringing some heart to the match like Melbourne did against the pies. If that does happen we need to snuff it out early and ensure they don't score to freely so they find it hard to get a momentum buzz. Locking games down is something we know how to do and if it happens I think we can mange it.

No change to the lineup please Mr.Roos.

We should beat Richmond but as someone said it is a danger game. Melbourne v Collingwood showed what happens if you aren't switched on.
You still win via dodgy umpiring non-calls?

I don't think Richards is down on last years form, I just think we have a lot of players pushing for spots when he really doesn't have a stable one in the side.

Well said.

From what i saw of Teddy in the NAB, against the Aints and Blues he was really good. His disposal was crisper and more accurate than it normally is and he looked great. Really fit and not flinching at the contest (which he of course normally isn't, but after his bad injury it was good to see).

As Mase says, he just doesn't have a set position that he is really really valuable to us in. And one that is not already being filled by a man in our lineup. Against the Aints in round one he was just used as a utility to be put anywhere so he didn't have a role to play really and didn't play very well accordingly. If he is in the side he will go well for us, but atm he is good to have as an emergency, ready to go when we need him.

The Swans almost never blow teams away. Whenever we get around 40 or 50 points ahead in games we tend to go down a few gears in intensity.

Yeah I agree for sure. Even yesterday the last 2 goals that the Crows got in the 3rd quarter had me worried. They made the difference between a real belting and a solid win.

I'll be very, very disapointed if we dont win our next 2 games.

no changes, no one deserves to be dropped, fringe players will get their chances later in the year

only thing that needs to change is some of the disposals.... that first 10 minutes yesterday was brutal

also those complaining about Braddles and White (not sure what the fuss is about).... those guys should relish their opportunity against Richmond, not exactly the biggest or best defence

They kept Hall to one goal and Minson to none though - McGuane was very good. It was the secondary targets that did the damage in Hill and Hahn.

They'll stick King on McGlynn I would say - should be entertaining.

Would we rather have Richards in the side than Mattner? I'm not one of the anti-Mattner crew but his role to rebound the ball out of defence is really not required this season. Kennelly is back, and Malceski is my #1 preference with his extremely accurate left foot. Mattner hasn't looked very assured, and Richards would add another option in the defensive 50 to match up on key forwards. Just give him strict instructions NOT to run the damn ball out of defence, he always looks like he'll have an apocalyptic turnover at any moment.
