i'm sensing some real carnage tonight, and my gut is usually pretty spot on.

So pending teams:

Whifield to Bowey
Soligo to Stephens

Something is wrong with Whitfield and i'm not hanging around to see what it is. Bowey should score similar and both he and the 250k in the bank should generate a 2 up 1 down trade in about 2 weeks. Got a couple targets ready too

Trading Berry is wasteful, but it's the only way I can make Owens -> Cripps work without losing one of Steele and Gawn, which would just be pointless as they'd be in my team by the end of the year regardless. Gives me another good cash cow in Stephens, and Bowey should be good for an ~80 average on field while making some more cash. I've done around 30 machinations of this trade, and this is the one that makes the most sense.

If Preuss is named, there's a slight temptation to do Gawn -> Preuss, Whitfield -> Hall, Owens -> Cripps, but it would very risky to rely on Preuss' body, suspension tendency and Leon Cameron.
I had a look at the Preuss thing too...i cant do it, and i like a bit of risk.
He's beyond any risk assessment.
Someone else can try it. Would require suicidal tendencies to rely on him though....and you just cannot get back to a good R1/R2 short of half a season. Its the sort of thing we end up frustrated about and not regain till late season...everything else gets in the way. "set and forget" became a thing for good reason, as u well know.

Think I’ve done reasonably well with the rookies, not too many misses. Big misses appear to be in the mid prices who have started with a bang.

Thoughts on the trades below, which cost me $3k
Whitfield>Hewett
Hough>Brodie

Alternative could look at bringing in likes of Bowey or Ginnivan and really free up some cash to get another look at the best keeper options for early upgrades

Any other options to consider?!

Geez that's a great set up for cash gen. Go Hough to Brodie and just cash in all season with all the good rooks. Well done

If you've got Hayes at R2 for the cash grab then isnt either English Jackson or Xerri a must have in fwds ? Xerri for the Rnd 6+dpp.
If you dont have the first 2 then i guess Xerri becomes a must have.
Otherwise go Butters and chase the points immediately. He could have 100+ points up on Xerri by Rnd 6.

Don't have English (he was first choice but was slightly to expensive to execute other trade plans) and don't have Jackson (not a fan of this pick - if he was priced same as Xerri sure but not a keeper or likely to make 150K for me).

Therefore your advice would be to play it safer (and sacrifice the points) by bringing in Xerri over Butters (and pocket the cash)?

I like it , I don't want to lose Berry myself but all your ins are excellent imo.

I'm surprised only 9% had Bowey in their starting team. I picked him as he is an elite kick on the rise.
With Salem out for 7 more weeks, I think the little orange haired bugger can average 100 as a seagull.

Finally settled on my trades pending teams being announced

Shitfield to Bowey

Owens to Cripps

Carlton's draw for the next 6 weeks was for the sealer for me. Cripps will dominate every single opponent during that time.

I was considering him but was too awkward a price. The 151 basically guarantees that he makes min 100-150k

No idea what the rest of your trades are, so hard to tell.
My issue is always that cheap rucks are cheap for a reason. They seem to get injured. A LOT. Many others just end up giving me the shits being dropped or going to KPF.
Is there any way to restructure trades to get English into fwds ? He's a good compromise and may end up averaging same as Butters anyway (doubt it tho)
I'm not trusting Xerri to either make more than 75-80avg, or to stay on the paddock as a #1 ruck. I reckon if the plan was Xerri to R2 after Rnd 6 thats a full 40 pts a week giveaway on simply having a solid R2 and saving a trade as well. Thats a lot of points to make up, as well as trusting his body holds up.

JM when he scores 2,600 this week kenties after trading Shitfield > Hall, Gawn > Heeney and Chapman > Bowey. :moustache:

Mulling over 2 very different trade packages.
One, an MPM $$ grab. The other, a Big Bang trade. Both pose their own risk/rewards I think. Appreciate some feedback kents!

MPM trade:
OUT: Dusty Owens Turdin
IN: Bowey(D4) Caldwell(M6) Brodie(F4)

B: Hall Whitfield Hewett Bowey Hinge McCartin (Sinn Gibcus)
M: Macrae Touk Oliver Neale Rowell Caldwell JHF Daicos (Ward DStephens Pedlar)
R: Gawn Grundy (Hayes)
F: Dunkley Butterz Cogs Brodie Xerri Rachelle (NMartin SDK)

BIG BANG trade:
OUT: Gawn Dusty Turdin
IN: English(R2) Petracca(M4) Brodie(F4)

B: Hall Whitfield Hewett Hinge Gibcus McCartin (Sinn SDK)
M: Macrae Touk Oliver Petracca Neale Rowell JHF Daicos (Ward DStephens Owens)
R: Grundy English (Hayes)
F: Dunkley Butterz Cogs Brodie Xerri Rachelle (NMartin Pedlar)

Pretty happy with the current situation (aside from the start of Gawn, Whitfield and Steele). However, I am going to hold firm on Gawn and Steele.

Whitfield is the one that I am 50/50 on and am considering two options:
  1. Option One:
    1. Whitfield to Bowey;
    2. Hough to Brodie (who then swaps with Rachele into F6); and
    3. Remaining cash would be $164k; or
  2. Option Two:
    1. Whitfield to Bowey;
    2. Ward to Heeney (with Rachele moving onto the mid bench); and
    3. Remaining cash would be $800.00.
Option two allows me to sideways into Heeney but leaves me very little flexibility going forward. Option one gives me the flexibility, but I lose one premium and am relying on a lot of mid-pricers over the next few weeks (Bowey, Rowell, Cogs, Xerri and Brodie). Given Whitfield's scoring though, this might actually be a positive and the cash leftover means my first upgrades might allow me to boost into two premiums.

Leaning towards option one at this stage, but may also say **** it and keep Whitfield and just move Baldwin to Martin this week.

I like the first option, Caldwell looks embedded in the midfield now with Merrett out and Bowey and Brodie can score highly.

Option 2 I'd go with mate.

You get 2 keepers and a potential 3rd in that way.

Giddyup. Sounds like a good plan :thumbsu:

Did Houston do a hammy last week ? Asking for a friend :drunk:

Can any Melbourne supporters provide comments on what Boweys role is and whether it changed from round 1 to 2?

Alot of neutral supporters are suggesting he has taken salems role but looking at Boweys highlights it doesnt appear the Dees are actively using him as a distributor. He actually won alot of his ball contested and intercepting. Whilst this bodes well for his future as a player it doesnt give me as much confidence picking him in supercoach.

Pick him.
He is a supercoach friendly player

Why is bowey now an 80 average footballer

One game - that doesn't count towards his average for you of any decency

Rest - well....
