Graham should be in the vfl. We need speed.
Completely agree ... VFL has a bye ... though it is possible that he is cherry ripe ... I am not going to melt if he is selected ... Yze has backed in a few already ... and they have produced ... so I am going to back in Yze with this decision ...

Whether he comes in this week or the following ... I am really interested to see how Graham goes .. maybe he goes a whole let better when he gets to chase the footy instead of guarding spaces and chasing parked cars like Dimna had him doing.

You make some great points, we need to see how everyone adapts tp Yze's game plan. We have had so many players restricted in their roles, that we should view every player as having a clean slate.

Sounds like Crayfish will play. First time he and Nank would've played together since 2016 apparently.
Yeah I got that impression too, may as well try the two ruck combo at least once I guess and see what happens? If one of our rucks can provide a contest at the very least when resting forward that'd be good.

Perhaps the plan is to workover Marshall as much as possible by tag teaming him

I can send you something from 2017 if you have really forgotten…
Really? So he's an automatic selection because of his game in the GF from 7 years ago?
but agree he hasn’t really progressed. Has one more year of credits to do something under Yze.
Why does he have another year of credits? I just don't get how this guy is a walk-up start with no match fitness, no exposed form, and a history of re-injuring himself when coming in underdone, which is what he is now. If he does play, we will be the worse for it.

What the actual f**k!?!?

fb- Vlastuin, Young, Broad
hb- Short, Miller, Rioli
c- Pickett, Ross, Banks
hf- LeFau, Mansell, Graham
ff- MRJ, Dusty, Campbell
r- Nank, Taranto, Bolton
i/c- Brown, McAuliffe, Dow, Naismith
sub- Sonsie

in: McAuliffe, Dusty, Graham, Naismith
out: Baker, Lynch, Balta, McIntosh

......but I have a bad, bad feeling McAuliffe isn't going to play 😪

Injury is the main way the kids are getting a game. JG for a game or 2, injury and the kids are back.
I actually reckon Sonz and KMac2 are 4 and 5 on the bench.

Dusty, Graham and Naismith ... lose speed ... gain hardness around the contest ... will be a real test of Yzes game plan

Smaller ground should lend itself to more stoppages and less run and gun. Will be interesting.
It's longer though, right?

Broad has to shut down Higgins especially out the back on transition
So according to lord Caeser MRJ limped off the track late and Daniel didn't train.

Hopefully nothing serious...
Louie strikes again .... faaark

Maybe we get a Kmac2 debut after all

Yep. That's because every premiership player is guaranteed a game regardless of form.
It's ridiculous. Yze makes a point of ripping the premiership poster off the wall on his first day, wiping his arse with it in full view of players and staff and then torching it with a lit cigar. But he still refuses to drop anyone with a Premiership medal.
It just reeks of avoiding difficult conversations.

I wonder how much say Dimma's former assistants have in that. I'm thinking Yze is waiting for them to retire or get so badly injured that they have to retire, so he doesn't have to drop them.

Or maybe he's giving all the experienced players several games to show they're still best 22, before he phases them out. I really hope that's the reason.

I thnk its just about respect and giving them their chance, or maybe, crazy stuff, but maybe he thinks they are better than the other options.

Yze has made some bloody good decisions so far

MRJ late out

Used to be Prestia late out

When did Graham become Chris Judd where he just comes straight in with no need for match conditioning?

I'm sure he will be serviceable like he often is. I just don't like it.

Reads like they’ve gone for Graham over Mcauliffe, which is disappointing given Mcauliffe has a few weeks of great form and Graham last played in the pre season and is coming off an injury.
Not really Graham keeping McAuliffe out unless they use him as a pure inside mid. I think it's more Yze wanting to give Ross and Dow extended opportunities in those roles.

Training report from Caesar (PRE)

Main Training Today Friday:

Daniel Rioli, Juddy and Gimes: were absent.
JNR: limped off late with maybe ankle/foot, (looked like a compression action to the foot/ankle area while tackling), not sure if it keeps him out, he didn't return but session was almost over.
Dusty & Graham: Trained well and fully.
Sonz: was fwd when split into lines.
Bakes: was out there but didn't train with main group, basically watched, (probably using suspension as a good time to rest up his banged up body))

**The players were in a circle in the middle of the ground just after the warm up and there was clapping and laughing/cheering, I were hoping it was for a Macca debut but maybe they just start training with a funny story?

That's it until the final squad named.
