They wont put Lippa as sub in his 100th game
Like we knew they wouldn't put bobby as sub in his 50th game last year when people wanted him dropped or subbed.

WHE could be sub, as if nick plays off half back, there is no place for him on the ground.

Its quite hilarious seeing Macrae written off after one game, in what is the toughest trip in footy against an experienced midfield.

Setting him for failure playing him sub for 2 weeks then throwing him against the wolves, play him against the Hawks then reassess after the bye
Hawthorn's midfield is very strong physically, fin would get pushed aside too easily. I think he needs another block in the VFL. He could be a permanent fixture by the end of the year but at this stage, I doubt he gets a game this week

I'd bring Sidey back as sub for Macrae

I'd probably keep the rest the same, but wouldn't mind seeing HH or Sullivan for Lippa.

He's not so much written off as shelved pending an uplift in performance. I trust the selectors to determine whether he is worthy of another game or not.

The need for continuity seems to be the main reason why some wish to retain Macrae.

That was one reason given for the retention of Dean and Johnson also and yet the brutal reality was the coaches disagreed and omitted both after 2 games. Macrae has now played 3 games albeit he was the sub in 2.

More importantly however is that the replacements for Dean and Johnson have both performed better to date so the decision looks justified.

You make it sound like McRaes small - At 188cm he’s bigger than all of them - he’ll be fine.

If we don't beat Hawthorn by at least 5 goals, our season is done.

I'd keep it simple, it was a 4 quarter performance, even the second q when they threw the kitchen sink at us, we held up, figured out the way forward after the main break and they got the job done, mature second half.

Out: Macrae

Sub: WHE

I'd be happy with any margin. It's a game we need to bank

Can we just knock off this mob and do it comfortably? Is that too much to ask? It seems to be given our record the past thirty years.
Took us 27 seasons to draw level with 16 flags with Carlton ( and subsequently 22 seasons with Essendon.)

And even longer since we were outright leaders… 43 years…. 1980 was the last time we were clear leaders with 13 flags.

I digress but these things take time . Reckon we are set up for a long period of retribution with hawthorn. I reckon the tide has turned.

It's the same coaching staff who finally realised to put Noble back in the team and Nick back on the half back flank. Also picking AJ for no reason when Reef had a stronger preseason.

Despite nabbing a flag, they're not geniuses at the best of times...

WHE was putrid outside of 2 plays. Despite all the talk of 'selection integrity' from the coach, he plays his favourites week in week out
Exposed.

No it isn't. I'd like a five goal win but I'd take a one point win. Why would you make such a bold and rather silly declaration?

I keep hoping.
