Seen plenty

I only ever see betts forward of centre, most commonly 50m from his opponent
I actually saw him take a mark in defensive 50m on the weekend. The ball was in the Crows 50m then the Swans got a fast break and for some reason he was in defensive 50m and got the intercept mark.

Must have been the start of the quarter and he was confused which way they were kicking :D

Can only assume that's it

Otherwise I must just tune in at the wrong times

As a forward isn't that a good thing? ;)

I understand Betts hasn't been great against your mob in the past, however, his second efforts and defensive pressure are superb.

Betts stands in the goal square or pocket hoping for cheapies over the top. Which is fine, but that's not defensive pressure. Compare him to Rioli/Poppy and you'll see what we mean about defensive pressure. Sure, his ability 1v1 is quite good, but how many times does he get forward 50 turnovers? Not much.

Contested possies, yes. Hard ball gets, yes. Freakish goals, yes. Effective tackles? Not so much.

Betts is actually praised by commentators during games on a regular basis for his manic pressure and second efforts, especially in the forward 50. He also plays through the middle off the square and has cameos in the backline for intercept possessions on occasion.

Some of the assessment of Betts in here is laughable.

Btw, should be a cracker on Friday night and the Crows will win. Enjoy the game boys and girls.

Last time we met Hawks vs Crows
Semi-final 2015:

Crows won clearances 44 - 32
Crows won contested poss 136 - 124
Crows won hit outs 47 - 26

Hawks won game by 74 points.

I don't buy into the theory that games are won in the middle. The Hawks have an uncanny ability to get smashed in the middle and still win. When it matters, however, the Hawks have the best midfield because they can rotate multiple players in there. How many times have we been up against it and thrown Burgoyne or Hodge or Roughy in the guts?

Call me a one eyed supporter but I can't ever remember a team, past or present, having the ability to rotate so many players into the centre bounce. These last few years I must have seen over 50 combinations.

Still my favourite combination has been Hodge, Burgoyne and Hale.

Look at Betts career record vs Hawthorn and may understand why he isn't getting much love.

Yes, we know. It's very obvious most Hawthorn supporters on here watch Hawks games exclusively and no other games.

I don't just watch Hawks games, but let me put it this way:

If you watch Josh Kennedy kick 15 goals against Brisbane and then be held scoreless against Adelaide, do you consider him to be a great forward?

Yes. Show me a forward that doesn't have a 0-2 goal game every now and then. Even the greats have their off days.

Not sure what my fellow hawk supporters are on about but they are way off the mark about Betts. Just because hawthorn contain him doesn't mean he is no good. He is a brilliant small forward who even in his Carlton days always gave a Yelp.

Love the avatar mate.
Anyone who just brushes aside juiced up Essendrug* guinea pigs with the utmost of contempt is a deadset champ.

Betts is a pretty good footballer, but Stratts has his measure every time recently. Hopefully that continues. It'd be awesome if someone would go to the effort of seeing how Betts went for the Blues against us, and who matched on him back then.

It doesn't change the fact that Crows fans are mostly massive knobheads. I'm allowed to say that right?
