Let's hope Ash McGrath is thinking about us.I heard he’s stuck on the train at Easey’s.
I don't think we'll be too tall on the field. I think we'll see one of our 4 talls (I'm including Grundy) on the bench for the vast majority and the mids will player higher minutes with more time up forward. With Mcreery, Elliott and Ginnivan out, we have to use our mids as the ground level contest in the forward half as we have zero depth in that department. The side is to tall for me this week. We saw last week the WC just basically waltz the ball out of our F50 each time we went in there, with no F50 pressure from our forwards.
I can see guys like Rich, Andrews, Starcevich Ah Chee etc just running the ball out of our F50 and launching attacks into their F50. Could be a very ugly night for us....
Waltz the ball out of our F50?
WC couldn’t get out of our F50 for much of the game and almost all of the third QTR.
I suggest you at least watch the third QTR.
However this week will be more challenging with the loss of Ginnivan and Elliot.
Its why we are playing three rucks lolHopefully Big O doesn't embarrass Grundy tonight
Grundy will be playing ruck-rover, don't worryHopefully Big O doesn't embarrass Grundy tonight
Correct - poor I50 conversion was the reason we lost.I was at the game, and everytime we did get it in, it was repelled time and time again. At times they were able to move the ball out of D50 too easily, without any pressure.
In the 3rd quarter the pressure was better, but we continually kicked into F50, only for Barrass or McGovern to mark and rebound, and they were continually able to find a loose target in or just out of D50, for most of the game. I remember that, because it was frustrating the sh1t out of me. Then when we had opportunities to score, we couldn't convert.....

Not WC waltzing out of our F50.
That’s the problem spinny. If they perform it will be a surprise.Andrew’s is the only true “tall” defender. No others taller than 192cm and 3 below 185cm.
If it stays dry, our tall fwd mix could surprise.
I'd argue it was 2 things:
1) Continually bombing and hoping inside 50
2) Allowing West Coast to score way too easily (as a result of them slicing through us all over the ground)

So far this year, with only two tall forwards, the talls have played big minutes and we've only had one tall forward for a fair bit of the game, when the ruck or tall forwards are resting. Meanwhile, we've had a mid on the bench who has played small minutes.Interesting to read through the comments re the Pies side.
It does seem quite tall. And without Mihocek lacks a bit of quality.
On the one hand it does have the ability to stretch us - i think Cameron and Kreuger have looked threatening. Cox has generally not troubled us but might if he is on Daniel Rich!
The odd thing for me is Collingwood's fast style and quick young players that have been on show this year is the sort of thing that troubles us. And while our defence and attack have been quite good our midfield is just going. So that would have been my focus if coaching the pies.
You are quite an experienced team and your OUTS as an oppo support seem to outweigh your INS. Only query would be how fit Roughead is but he did have a game in the 2s.
We very rarely lose at the gabba in the home and away season but am a bit worried about his one. Think we'll know a lot in the first 5 minutes. Pies have traveled very well before last year.
Odds seem out of whack to me.
Maybe there will be some positional changes but it looks like 4 key forwards to me? So at least 3 on the ground the whole time?So far this year, with only two tall forwards, the talls have played big minutes and we've only had one tall forward for a fair bit of the game, when the ruck or tall forwards are resting. I think that will be switched around with the mids needing to be used as small forwards as well as mids - all the mids will play bigger minutes and the talls will play less minutes - it'll be really rare this afternoon to see all three of our tall forwards up forward together. Basically, I don't think we'll be as tall on the field as our team appears.
No rain during the game apparantely.True - but if its dry, then clear our height advantage becomes an issue for their short defenders IMO.
Wilson is a flanker.Maybe there will be some positional changes but it looks like 4 key forwards to me? So at least 3 on the ground the whole time?
Not saying it can't work. I guess there would be a bit of Sun Tzu in making us worry about you rather than the other way around.
Does seem like 1 too many.
But i do think it will be dry and still so don't think weather will be an issue.
Blairgiven we are playing all our rucks and Beggy has concussion..
who the heck is rucking in saturdays vfl game...
agree... going on reputation so far. Giving forwards too much room. Bucks alluded to it, without hanging him out to dry...Am I the only one who thinks Moore has been average this year?
He needs to beat Daniher for us to win.
Roughy to break even with McStay would help also
why? he's not even man marking his attacking opponents v well atm...What about playing Madgen as a defensive forward on Rich?
Rich sets up alot of the Brisbane plays from D50, and against Geelong had over 700 metres gained, due to his long kicking.
Maybe worth a shot, as to win this one, we need to come up with a couple of surprising moves.....
I was assuming Kreuger / Cameron / McInnes / Cox as key forwards. I haven't seen a lot of McInnes so could be wrong there?Wilson is a flanker.
