That was Touks best game for us tonight I think. A future-captains type of performance. May not have had the best stats, but he completely nullified Zorko, and everything he did seemed completely selfless and courageous in benefit of the team - really seemed to will us over the line. saved us in defensive 50 with some absolutely crazy efforts tonight.

Fiorini also looks like he's on his way to being our A grade midfielder in the middle. 3 vote performance by him tonight.

Hallelujah that was a pretty good trip home too.
Ok the replay is on Fox Footy at 930pm.
Scotch oclock on the GC.
I hope the other whisky drinkers are going to have a couple.
Wins are to be savoured.
Especially over Brisbane. In any sport or endeavour a GC win over Brisbane is extra special.
I'm with ya there mate, just had some dinner and got home to Ormeau from the game. Will watch 1 or 2 qtrs and a couple scotches! Extra special to get the pineapple grapple win

Also thought Fiorini was one of our best...I've given him a new nickname in Luigi

Same time i got home. Must have been on your tail on the way down the M1.
Enjoy the replay.

Weller had 23 touches and 9 marks, he wasn't great but people beating up on him really need to cut a 21 year old some slack.

In other opinions, we lack that superstar midfielder that you can depend on the deliver it lace out to the forward line. We scrap and tackle hard but lack just a bit of class through the guts.

I’ve been holding back on Weller but in the last quarter he was lazy I gave him a spray over the fence and was congradulated by some suns fans behind me he was shocking in the last when the game was on the line to be won

I’m with you. He did some really good things in that 3rd quarter in amongst some silly mistakes and brain farts. He’s the new fall guy that’s for sure.

And we can thank the club for that, if we paid a reasonable price instead of a kings ransom people would be more forgiving. Unfortunately we paid our highest ever pick (since our inaugural draft) and people want value for money.
I hope he develops for his sake and ours

During his 40 odd games he averaged less than 2 clangers a game and was clean.
In his 5 games for us he's averaging over 5 a game. He's rushing himself and trying too hard. He's not alone with kicks across his body to the opposition, we're a clear number 1 in that regard.
Last year alone on a wing he averaged over 3 inside 50s and 3 rebound 50s per game.
He's not a pick 2 - we all know that so we're not going to get value of a pick 2.
But last year against the Crows he had 30 possessions, 21 contested, 9 rebound 50s, kicked 2 of their 6 goals.
Lever looks like a pick 90 on his current form at a new club. Rockliff, Motlop are struggling at Port.
It will just take time for him to relax and fit in.

Why not play weller further away from backline , with Martin playing looseman in defense GC lost a great player in either Midfield or Forward. Playing forward and score some goal will help him to relax .

I agree. He's a wingman who last year ran hard both ways.

Ankle....the way they carried him out of there it would be either syndomosis or a break.
I doubt it was just a ligament thing. Looked too painful to be that.
I’m expecting bad news.
Boddsy you need to stop listening to ex-footballer commentators. they either dont know what a syndesmosis injury is or they guess. its basically impossible to determine just from vision of an event. in fact if you see the ankle twist, the chances are hugely increased that its a lateral ligament given that's what those ligaments do - control the twisting of the ankle. High ankle is easy to remember as usually the cause will be the toes going too 'high' towards the shin
All a syndesmosis sprain is, is essentially a high ankle sprain - it is where the ligaments connecting to the tibia/fibula are the affected ligaments, compared to a regular ankle sprain where its the lateral ligaments that are affected. Regular ankle sprains can often be more painful than a high ankle, especially for people that don't roll their ankles regularly so appearance of pain (especially in the near aftermath of the event) is a terrible indicator of severity or type of the injury.

something tells me that's the game that will give us back the Touk of old, almost forgotten how influential he can be - if Zorko had gotten off the leash we would have probably lost that game

Ainsworth is certainly off not seeing anything like the physicality or intensity we have been used to from him, that goal he kicked into the Lions defenders shin was a lack of confidence he should have propped and let the guy run through but obviously panicked

Massive props to our backline they to me look super solid, I think back to all the goals we used to concede out the back and loose players off their man doesn't seem to happen like that anymore maybe we will get exposed when we play Richmond et al but so far the back 6 are solid

I think we were better without KK for now

Thought Joyce played well too

Seems like Tom has lost his confidence to clunk contested marks
