I think Carlton's fans insecurities start from how they lost, even though they are 4th.

Their loss to Adelaide doesn't happen if they're actually a top team. The same mistakes happened that has been around since Bolton was coach. They fall apart as soon as the pressure is put on them. They have the cream and frosting but not the base of the cake. Top 5-6 players but it falls apart with their depth.

Comparing that to our loss, we couldn't be prouder. We fought and fought regardless of how s**t our ball use was.

Don't think it'll be an easy game by any means, but we can absolutely put this blues team away

Adelaide are a lot better than most give them credit for , not sure if we play them over there but if we do we will want to be at our very best to beat them

Just saw the Hammer incident.

Why would he get suspended for what Murphy did?

If Murphy didn't duck then he wouldn't get hurt. If he didn't try to illegally block Hammer from making a run, he wouldn't have been hurt. If Murphy was playing the ball, instead of going the man, he wouldn't have been hurt.

Hope the young man learns his lesson and stops ******* around with these dirty off the ball tactics.
He still whacked him high though which is the problem. Murphy absolutely instigatged it and should cop a week (despite the concussion stuff) and made it worse by dropping into it but Caminiti lost his temper there and put himself into a situation that was unnecessary. Hes a kid riding high on emotion so its not the end of the world and will be a learning experience for him but he will cop 2 weeks for it.

I'd argue that there was no possible way for Caminiti to foresee that Murphy would duck.

He was looking for a push/block to the chest to create space and Muprhy then dropped his head, putting himself in danger.

If umpires are told not to reward players who 'lead with the head' because it encourages them to put themselves in dangerous positions, then surely Murphy needs to get a please explain from the AFL as to why he trying to block a player 70m off the ball using his face...

Membrey for Caminiti (suspended)
Steele for Windhager (needs a rest or a big vfl game to get his hands on the ball)
Bytel stays as sub

Wouldnt mind seeing Gresh as sub (or even dropped) as he was poor last night but it wont happen so I will move on.
Those calling for Cordy to be dropped I get it but with Caminiti out he will need to stay to crash packs unless we go with Campbell/Heath instead.

I don't see the point in dropping Gresham, he just had an off night, he could bounce back next week, kick 5 goals and be BOG.

I would rather he do that for St Kilda than Sandringham.

Gresham's been playing a lot more forward this year (his statistical profile looks more like 2016-2018 than 2019-2022) and the only one of our smaller forwards who did anything v Collingwood is the one who can take an overhead mark (Higgins). I wouldn't be leaving Gresham out.

Out: caminiti, cordy, windhager, (bytel)
In: membrey, campbell, Steele

Windy sub.

Bytel doesn’t have the speed or skill to come on and impact as a sub, he’s just a very good vfl standard player unfortunately.

He was defintiely giving him a whack to hurt him back. I think its fair to say he didnt expect to cop him in the face but he still put himself in that position which is a dumb move.

Agreed, deserves a stint on the sidelines, however Murphy to carry on like a victim, is pretty piss weak from him.

If he’s fit, would brining Keeler in be disastrous? Caminiti came in with no AFL or VFL experience. Yes he’s a few years older, but would his mobility make him a more useful versatile tall than Cordy?

For a team with only 1 loss on their record, they've got minimal confidence going into this weeks' game...
They are essentially us at the start of last year. I did have a read of their autopsy thread after their match and there were some pointing out that despite not losing to that point they had really only played 1 good quarter for the year.

I did watch their game and they look off the charts slow, which hopefully we can exploit.

Aside from their 2 monster forwards there isn't much to brag about on their end despite the good start to the season.

What Murphy did seemed bizarre. Crumpled at the knees just before contact as if he wanted to cop it in the chin instead of the chest.

To answer the first part I am going to say yes, disastrous.

Keeler is a freak on the potential ceiling, needs moulding to reach the standard required to fit a system, know where to run/lead, defend etc.

Wouldn't be throwing him in the deep end.

he took 3 steps backwards when Caminiti turned, pretty cowardly when you just cheap shot someone not looking. but those steps i think put him off balance.

To mouth off going onto the bench something to the tune of "play football dickhead" (my not so expert lipreading there) is a little ironic given he instigated

i have a different view on the Caminiti Murphy incident.

i dont think Murphy is weak and i dont think Caminiti is a dog.

Caminiti if proven shouldnt be hitting guys behind play but at the same time he needs to be physical given his role to be competitive and take contested possessions. its a very hard position to play and i think one his great traits has been his continued attack on the play. you'd hate to see him lose that because he's trying to be more passive on field. just needs to make sure he doesn't make contact to the face.

apologise, take his whack and move on. thats the view i think we should be taking "sucks it happened to Murphy, accidents happen, he's apologised, he's gonna get punished, lets move on"

This game has such letdown potential it’s already got me nervous. 5-1 and leading the pack or 4-2 and back in the pack and the more wins we can bank in these 50/50s the better before we start playing the Norf and Hawthorns
At the start of the year I would've said we'd lose to Fremantle, Essendon, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood and Carlton so instead of sitting 1-5 we'll be at worst 4-2. We need to just be around the mark when we get King back in a few weeks. I'm excited to see what we'll be like when we've got more of our best out there. We've beaten or been taking it to genuinely good sides with two forwards who have about 15 games between them - one of which wasn't on an AFL list two months ago.
