Actually, re: Honeychurch dropping, he was statistically in our best 3 or 4 players last week. He was one of the few we had on the field against Freo who wasn't playing "bruise free" footy. And we drop him for his efforts. Bizarre.

That is a really young team, Dahlhaus at 25 is our third oldest player. I’d consider Carlton a young team as well, Dahlhaus would be their 11th oldest.

The ins look good this week. Hunter, Crozier and Williams (if he continues his recent form) and a lot of class. Webb failed to take his chance again and I think it could be a while before we see him again and although I always like his effort and he has been getting better I’m not disappointed to see Honeychurch out. Bailey Dale will want to have a big game tomorrow, hasn’t been able to find last years form.

I think Dickson is going to be a huge out.

Honeychruch isn't up to it long term so I don't mind

Sorry mate, there is no long term in footy form, there is only the here and the now. Lipinski, Dale, Gowers and Richards had terrible games against Freo. We played soft footy and have dropped one of the few hard nuts in last week's game.

Oh God, I pray that we don't play that shiteful rack 'em up disposals game tomorrow, where we might get 10 possessions chipping it around but actually go backwards to then cough it up for a one, two, goal! turnover. And the oppo supporters are laughing at us. And at the end of the night, you look at the stats and see we led significantly in total disposals and marks but got reamed a new one on the scoreboard.

Sound familiar? Because that is the way quite a few of our guys like to play in recent times. Soft, outside game.

How is your backline going to cope with 4 tall marking forwards in SOS, McKay, Casboult and Curnow??

For all it’s worth I think we’ve gone in way too tall. No choice with our smalls being injured or out of form.

I’m always pretty happy when a team overloads with talls against us, especially at Etihad. It rarely works. We outwork the opposition.

In addition, your talls are a bit shit or undeveloped

Webb has played 11 games of the last 53. He played 10 in his first year. He has significant flaws to work on, though since his first year, he has barely been given 2 consecutive games. He has a 2 year deal, so I assume he gets a decent run (like Cordy and Honey) at some stage.

Like the In's this week. Though think Young has been stiff.

Guys, let's not can oppo supporters. I enjoy the dialogue when they come over.

Shocked with Honey, he has been solid this year IMO. Yes he has deficiencies, but I'd bloody take him over dahlhaus in his current form.

Yeah, nothing I hate worse when people come in here and are polite and ask good questions, make good dialogue. And some here just reply back with snappy remarks, go all ego about who has won what flags recently like it makes your dick bigger. Certain posters here need to stop being d heads every time someone comes in here with good intentions, doesn't give you the right to say whatever just because its a "Bulldogs" forum. I enjoy opposition discussions

Surprised me tbh. Particularly given its not exactly a secret that we tend to play a smaller forward line. Not the first team to try and exploit that and I doubt you'll be the last.

The only tactic I can think of is them flooding back into the defensive 50 fast, and forcing us to lob high ones all game. We are one of the easiest teams to intercept if forced into playing this way, and they would have a field day with a couple of those tall's decent at picking off entries. The Blues will have to play out of theirs skins and slow the game down in the middle to stop us getting there before they do, not sure they have the leg speed to keep up with our fast movement ball game if its on song.

11 players over 190cm on a fast deck at Etihad makes me think they will try and play a possession based style with lots of kick-mark passages of play. The thing is I'm not sure if they have the skill to do that, particularly if our pressure game is on point.

If we lower our eyes going into the F50, then that will go a long way to kicking a winning score.

Don't think we've taken your team into account at all really...we always play a higher number of KPP's than most other teams.
Last week vs WC we played 4 KPD's and 4 KPFs...don't know why we increased it for this game though.

No one on our board is happy about it...i mean can't see how playing 5 KPD's is a winning tactic...we're going to be so slow, might struggle to keep up with your smaller forwards and the D50 rebound will be virtually non-existent outside Kade Simpson. And we're all puzzled as to how Cameron O'Shea didn't get dropped...

Will be an interesting game, 2 of the youngest teams and 2 bottom teams. Both been Jekyl and Hyde so far this year...we played good, tough footy vs WC & Richmond but rubbish the rest of the year, you have also played 2 good games vs Essendon & Sydney but rubbish the rest.

The selection committee seem to disagree with this. I think you're correct in as much as Lipinski, Richards, Gowers and English made critical errors (handling, kicking and decision) in the first half against Freo that handed them at least half their goals. Dale and JJ too had error and mistake ridden first halfs that cost us as well. So costly were the mistakes that a strong case could be made for dropping many if not all.

So why are they all selected again? It seems the strongest evidence yet that, in the case of English and Richards in particular, they want to get game time and experience into them now for a future benefit. They've accepted that there can be a cost in terms of winning games but they're prepared to wear it.

The progress of these new players (how quickly and effectively they reduce their error rates and develop/accentuate their strengths) is one of the more interesting aspects to our season.

Agreed. I think our midfield should win the battle, therefore giving us the upper hand but funnier things have happened. I'm not expecting a high scoring clash though. Haha

You guys are crazy young with the retirement of Murphy & Boyd plus injuries to Picken, Morris, Adams etc...

Really the inconsistency isn't surprising when you are fielding the youngest team in the comp and by my count you have 11 players 21 or under in this game...and then quite a few more 22-24. That's extremely young.

EDIT
Worked it out:
3 players 25 and over
9 players 22-24
11 players 21 and under

English is genuinely earning his spot. He's presenting really well around the ground and spotting up teammates when he gets it. He really improves our ball movement on the wings. He's not quite there yet in the hitouts, but neither are Roughy and Trengove really.

What's up with Trengrove? Don't usually see a relatively well known FA acquisition playing VFL.

Especially with injuries to Morris & Adams, English as first ruck and until last round no Boyd in the team.

He fractured his scapula.

Once he is back, there won't necessarily be a spot waiting for him. He'll have to earn it like Boyd did given we've actually got decent competition for key positions at the moment.

That is true but it's also true that he made a lot of handling errors in open play in the first half that were costly. But those errors are fixable quite quickly. When those errors occur, my observation is that they often happen because he's spending it before he gets it. It indicates that he's quick of mind and thinking ahead but needs to be mindful of securing the ball in the first instance.

As a dogs supporter I will forever be nervous about every game we play. This club has sent me bald and grey.

Understand how you feel, mate.
The one exception for me is the grand final. I felt weirdly calm for the first, and only, time in my life.

I feel for Honey because of how good his endeavour is and I know he statistically had a good game last week but honestly teams would not mind him having 20 disposals or more because he doesn’t absolutely no damage. Skill standard is no where near it but he had a lot of friends last week. I personally would’ve kept Webb in over Lipinski.
