How is your backline going to cope with 4 tall marking forwards in SOS, McKay, Casboult and Curnow??

For all it’s worth I think we’ve gone in way too tall. No choice with our smalls being injured or out of form.

I am smelling a late out Dahl knee soreness for Honeychurch. I applaud his endeavour but loathe his skills. I just can't see that he will be dropped after last week even allowing for his lack of skill there were a lot worst.

Just noticed you’ve gone small and we’ve gone tall. 6 players over 190 (bont and macrae in that) and 11 from Carlton (cripps incl.).
We play our best footy when we go small down back IMO. Back Wood and Croz who are both elite in the air for mediums to cut off most of the high deliveries or at least bring it to ground where we get all our drive from HB. I think you've played right into our hands with the tall line up tbh

I absolutely agree. I think Bolton and Carlton are going in the opposite direction to the entire AFL in terms of game plan and play. 1 tall and several smalls. Whereas were hoping the kick mark game plan will work. This could be a belting either side of the coin depending one which game plan works best.

I wouldn’t call Alex Silvagni a tall marking forward.

We did okay against Daniher/Hooker/Stewart a few weeks ago. We generally get the better of tall forward lines, assuming our pressure on the ball carrier is up to a high standard.
Cordy-Casboult
Naughton-McKay
Wood-Curnow
And probably Crozier on SOS would be my guesses.

Should be a gd test (learning opp) for Curnow after how well wood did on buddy 2 weeks back. Naughton v McKay should be interesting. McKay is very agile and gets up the ground. Casboult should beat Cordy and the dogs will need to get some cover in there.

Sorry mate, I meant him. 191cm isn’t considered tall anymore
Considering most dogs defenders are 187 and lower it’ll be an interesting contest if we can move the ball inside quickly through Cripps/fisher like last week. Still need a lot of pressure around the Ball. 5 KPD for a small dog forward line isn’t smart (Marchbank, Jones, Rowe, Plowman and O’Shea) there isn’t match ups for them all. I expect a late out or two. Or maybe the dogs might bring in Trengove, young or Webb).

Who knows, I think this game will be closer than most think, and I don’t think we should be as short favourites as we currently are! Good luck.

I'm not sure 4cm is a huge deal, particularly when guys like Crozier and Williams have shown they are more than capable under the high ball.

The way footys currently played youre probably right but in saying that it doesnt take much to change and going tall in the medium term might end up being ahead of the game again IMO. I just think theres a real lack of quality talls across the league right now and teams have figured out an average small is probably more useful than an average tall.

If you pressure our mids and force us to kick high and long which we quite often fall into the trap of doing then our forward line will end up useless once again and we'll be destroyed in the air. But if we use the ball like we did in rounds 3 and 4 hitting up our forwards on the lead going inside 50 I think we could cut you up. It could go either way tbh just depends which teams turn up
