OUT: Dickson (inj), Naughton (Rest), Webb, Richards (Rest)
IN: Hunter, Trengove/Roberts, Williams, Crozier

FB: Crozier, Trengove, Williams
HB: JJ, Cordy, Wood
C: Hunter, Wallis, Suckling
HF: Dahl, Bont, Daniel
FF: Gowers, Toyd, Dunkley
R: English, Macrae, Mclean

INT: Jong, Honeychurch, Lipinski, Dale

That actually resembles a backline with a bit of experience. We kept get caught out structure-wise with Daniel etc playing back (I'm assuming for their kicking skills).

Would seriously consider giving all of English, Naughton and Richards a break. Freshen them up for GC and Brisbane. Dickson injured. Plus one of Dale or Webb.
In... Williams. Hunter. Crozier. Rough. Young.

Out:
Dickson - injured
Naughton - rest/injured
Richards - rest like the kid but just needs a little run back in the twos given we have replacements ready.
Honeychurch- yes he brings effort but 6 turnovers and constantly brushed aside and just can’t kick

In:
Trengove - to play full back
Hunter - no explanation needed
Crozier - is best 22
Williams - obviously comes straight back in

Guys on the chopping block
Webb - continually doesn’t show the form he does at lower levels but needs a couple of games, last chance saloon for him.

Lippy - pretty ordinary last night but should be given more than one game

Dale - the defensive side of his game has been nothing more than piss weak barely tackles, and it was highlighted more by him playing back last night for periods

outs are

Richards for Crozier

naughton for trengove

Webb for Williams

Dickson for hunter

basicly we rest naughton and richards for 2 or 3 weeks while we try and win 3 games out of the next 4 winnable games with abit more experienced players.

I think we should continue to persist with English he is a player we need to fast forward his development bigtime. Good tap ruckman seem to murder us.

If Naughton/Richards/English are rested. Does that mean they play in the 2nds or they have a rest? I don't see the point of resting them if they are playing in the 2nds.
Personally the only one I would rest is Naughton. Loved the fact he came back on after a heavy knock but he looks a little battered and a weeks rest will freshen him up.

Out: Dickson, Naughton, Dale, Webb
In: Williams, Crozier, Hunter, Young/Trengove

Naughton straight rest then probably straight back in the afl team.

Richards a rest this week then come back through the twos

Rocket on Game Day commented that having to many young players and not enough older players can hit a tipping point. He mentioned loosing Moyd, Morris not playing, Bob retired, Libba injured, players who stand up when we are losing. Basically saying what we are saying.

Not sure what the changes will be, I’m usually wrong but one thing that is frustrating is how many we’re making every week (admittedly a lot forced). I’d be interested if anyone had the stats on how many changes we’ve made week on week this year and last, particularly in comparison with other sides.

So on balance the lesss changes the better but seems hard not to see 3-4 happening.

Six day break off a hard surface from Perth, youngsters and a really bad performance is a recipe for more changes than normal for me.

Happy to be proven wrong, but are changers only those disposals that are directly turned over to an opponent? He kicked the ball out of bounds trying to hit a target at least 3 times, caught HTB after winning a free kick & numerous times fumbling the ball & an opponent cleaned up & took it away. Wasn’t alone by any means in the latter department there though.

From Wikipedia:

Examples of clangers include,
  • Any disposal or deliberate knock-on that goes directly to an opposition player.[2]
  • Any free kick conceded
  • Dropped marks or fumbles under no pressure
  • 50-metre penalties conceded
  • A Ball-Up Kick In (Stepping over the line when kicking in after a behind)

Porter was travelling emergency so not sure I'd bring him in after a week of no football for hours debut.

Young has to come in, killing it in the VFL and replaces Naughton for a rest.

Crozier for Richards who is clearly developing.

Consider resting English as well - Collingwood destroyed Josh Fraser by flogging him early in his career, I'd hate to see Tim turn out the same way.

Hunter in - Dickson out.

Lippi gets another chance. Webb perhaps his last chance.

That means we need to find one more out to get Williams into the side. I like Dale but he needs a spell.

Agree we have to nurture and rest the kids sometimes.Naughton for Young this week.
But Trengrove and Crozier need to play reserves and prove themselves first.Far from best 22 and automatic selections.

Honestly who cares??

They will drop kids and keep guys in or bring guys in that have had 383766 chances in the hope we can save something from the year.

I seriously think we play the kids and a few older blokes and stamp the rest as gone

Honey Jong Campbell Dickson Webb Rough Adams Moz Picko should all be gone at years end replaced with kids. Start the rebuild which is pathetic 2 years after a flag this club hasn’t done a single thing right since that day we are again a minnow no one cares about.

And do not think I don’t underestimate the move it is to retire Moz and Picko but I think I’d seriously stop watching if those blokes were for and f!cking spuds got games before them.

Apparently Footscray have a bye this coming week, so whoever doesn't play seniors won't be playing at all. Something to keep in mind.
So you are saying having a rest could be genuine this week, good rest a few of the babies, even the great and wise
Joel Selwood had every fifth game or so off in his first year. Don't bruise the fruit before it is ripe.

Exactly. I just wonder if Porter comes in, two consecutive weeks off isn't ideal and that allows us to give someone else a week off this week as well.

Hard to disagree with all the above. If I were considering a variation to it it would be retaining and moving Richards to Dale's role and omitting Webb. Conditional a bit on how Richard's is travelling physically. Webb just doesn't come up at this level in terms of intensity.

Porter has the attitude and will play this year even if not physically ready, try Greene instead of Dickson.
My basic philosophy would be accept the pain and watch the NT Thunder games on Wednesday night
after the Marngrook footy show go Thunder.

I'm no fan but I think Webb's got to play this week. So too Lipinski. Can't expect young players to develop if they get chopped after one game every time.

I'd give young Richards a rest and maybe Naughton too depending on how he recovers from the knock he got last night, but would keep English. Maybe bring in Roughead to share the ruck duties and allow English more time up forward. Young has earned a spot with consistent performances in the VFL but they might look at Trengove instead.

I'm assuming Crozier and Redpath aren't yet ready and that Williams will be over his ear infection.

OUT: Dickson (inj), Dale (omitted), Richards, Naughton (both rested)
IN: Hunter, Williams, Roughead, Young

We're not going to be any quicker with those changes but we'll improve the average experience to a bit over 60 games. And closer to 70 games if they pick Trengove instead of Young.

Out - In

Dickson (inj)- Hunter (obvious inclusion from suspension
Webb (finished - had enough chances isn't up to it) - Porter (give him a taste)
Richards (rested - done a good Job) - Crozier (We need some experience down back)
Dale (been awful for such a talent) - Williams (was very good before infection)
Naughton (rested - done a good Job) - Young (earned his chance with very good VFL form)

Would give English another run but needs a rest soon - Roughy waiting in the wings

Trengove to get in the best in the VFL before promotion
