But regardless of COVID we'd play at a variety of ground, which are leaner than the G.
Surely we have variations to the game plan to suit these grounds???!!!!
And if we don't, then after the last 2 weeks debacle, we'd have come up with one???!!!
It really is the million dollar question (re tweaks to the game plan). I'm sure Clarko, the coaches and players will be brainstorming on what needs to change to get a win. I suppose the silver lining to our last 2 losses there is that we kind of know what isn't working and can go from there.

I'm not doubting the legitimacy of Cegs injury (well I sort of am LOL) but if you cast your minds back to just after the loss against the Cats, Clarko distinctively said that the BB / Cegs experiment would need about 6 games to be known if it was a success or failure and we are now at round 7 with 6 games played. We've all heard the rumours that Clarko promised first crack at being the #1 ruck to Cegs so he would reign with us it wouldn't surprise me at all if Cegs isn't injured at all and that Clarko now has abandoned the experiment. I'm not doubting that Cegs is injured but I wouldn't be surprised if its a broken finger and not a broken toe. FWIW you can play with a broken finger but not so much a broken toe.

If anyone has the time then go back and listen to Clarko's presser after the Cats loss because to me it sounded like he was fulfilling his promise to Cegs about first crack at the #1 ruck and Clarko has always been a man of his word. I think most of us can agree that the experiment even though it delivered some wins could easily have been losses if the opposition took their chances. I could be wrong and might be over analysing Clarko's words but if the experiment is done away with then I'll assume that I am right and a 6 game trial / agreement was in fact a thing 🤪

Either way hopefully Cegs recovers from whatever is broken (toe, finger or pride).

So with Cegs unfortunate broken toe and Pattons hamstring that means two forced changes.

Burgoyne would be one definite in. Lewis the other if fit.

IN: Burgoyne, Lewis, Maginness or Minchington
OUT: Ceglar, Patton, Puopolo

B Stratton Frawley Hardwick
HB Day Frost Sicily
C Scully Mitchell Smith
HF Gunston O'Brien Burgoyne
F Morris Lewis Wingard
R O'Meara McEvoy Worpel

INT Morrison, Shiels, Henderson, Maginness / Minchington

Couple of notes here:
  • TOB will obviously provide a chop out to McEvoy if he needs it. He needs more strings to his bow and this could be it and hopefully could allow him to get his hands on the ball more when he isn't up forward.
  • Don't play Henderson on the wing but rather as a HB or HF
  • O'Meara and Wingard need to be rotated with each other if either isn't on the bench
  • Shiels to do a tagging job on Oliver
  • If Lewis doesn't get up then bring in Hartley and go small up forward

I don’t think we can have TOB as the sole big man up forward, need a big target to kick to down there.

In - Burgers, Brooksby/Lewis if fit and Finn.

Out - Patton, Ceglar and Poppy.

McEvoy moves into the ruck and Brooksby sits in the forward line if Lewis is still injured.

Hartley could come in instead of Brooksby but I feel we are already tall enough down there with Frawley, Frost, Sicily and Stratton.

Apart from the giants a areana, what other ground do we struggle at? I’m not saying we wouldn’t prefer a wider ground but I doubt see the point of rejigging the entire game plan for one oval that we have rarely played at and in normal circumstances we wouldn’t play at more than Once a season.

I think the impact of the ground is really only on the risk/reward of going down the corridor. We don’t do it so struggled to score against the pies but they also struggled to score after quarter time. Straight shooting and a few cleaner passages of play from us accounts for most of the difference in the match. Confidence is down but we are not miles off it even on the giants home turf.

The forward-line is the biggest issue. What it needs is some class and speed.

Okay non football related but that Avatar, creeps me out.

Keep seeing Teabag from Prison Break, it's kind of disconcerting.

Hope ceglar misses this week , he will get destroyed by Gawn and give away Plenty of free kicks, need McEvoy in the ruck and not in defence against a small fast dees fwd line.

I remember a game recently where Gawn got hold of McEvoy also. In that game we just reverted to conceding Melbourne's inside ball from Gawns work at stoppages and didn't allow Melbourne to convert that inside ball to outside run. Just ringed them in, it was a clear strategy change in game style and great to watch. Melbourne were at a loss post game to explain the situation.
Good times.
