If Roo had left for QLD in his second season.

If NWM or Pou left next season.

Every saints fan would boo.

Now genuinely I understand wanting to go home.

My issue is that if we start allowing kids to walk out after a year. If we start getting dictated too by players who have been in the building for 12 months - for no reason outside they miss their mum.

Then the game is ****ed and we shouldn’t even have a draft. What’s the point?

So too those saying don’t boo. It’s embarrassing etc.

If it was Rooey who did it to us at our lowest. Would you boo?

In which it becomes a difference in the club and not the ethics behind it.
Did we do it to Cripps? I don’t remember.

Personally, I don’t like booing.
But if you “have to” why are we booing JHF?
We have no skin in the game on this one.

For what it’s worth, I agree the players get too much say. You choose to get drafted, you need to at least honour your contract.

I am not disappointed in the match. This game and the Collingwood game are getting some great experience into the team, especially for the younger players, by playing quality opposition and grinding.

Lost by a combined total of 13 points, chances to win both against two teams that will most likely be well in the mix in September. We are not going to win 20 straight. We look more than competitive and I don't think we lost much yesterday. Both losses would be saying to this team "we can compete with the best".

So I was at the game and I make the following observations.

1. Pou didn't play well but still almost kicked a couple of goals and tends to make pretty smart decisions. I would keep him in for the game against North in the hope that he fires.

2 membrey is borderline useless anywhere except when kicking for goal. God he just stops our fast movement every time he gets the ball.

3 Steele played much better this week but made a number of costly errors that cost goals and a number of turn overs.

4. It's unlikely we see mistakes like the ones that battle and Wilkie made again and without them we would have won.

We're 5 and 2 with easy games to come and good players to come back in. Every team loses and we will too. Let's keep it positive until shit gets dire

People booed Milne every game and the media made nothing of it. They Booed Rooey and we booed the Scotts because we couldn't tell which on was the little campaigner. It's just theatre but once the media promote it it almost takes on a life of its own. People booed Goodes and I'm pretty sure it just became a thing that people did after a while. The origins of it might have been quite dark but it's like Aussies can't take being told not to do something. A bit of convict heritage coming out?

The previous club booing is not the issue. Of course we would have if rooey had left.

But Horne Francis didn't leave us or any of the other clubs that have been booing him. It's just mob mentality and it's pathetic.

I know it’s harsh to say and a fairly big call but I feel like our game plan suits caminiti a lot more than membrey
I think there is a bit of being over excited by Caminiti's highlights in that. Membrey's first half last week was the most dangerous a key forward had looked for us this year so he can fit into our game plan. He will be better once he's the 2nd target again.

Steele and Stocker both had quite a few turn overs that neither would nornmally. I'm not sure if they targeted Stocker and he became fumbly but he seemed to take uncharacteristic errors quite a lot and lost confidence. Steele will settle once he's played a few more games and trusts his shoulder more.

Onfield leadership need to be held accountable. Why the **** would you revert to the long bomb into the I50 and continue to persist with it when we’re being hopelessly outmarked???

People are booing because of what his actions represent.

That’s skin that every club has.

It isn’t because he has wronged us. But what his decisions stand for

Except the issue isn't if North boo JHF. I think that would be understandable.

It has absolutely nothing to do with our club.

Are we going to boo every player that leaves after a year or two? What about a player that asks to be traded whilst under contract?

I think it's a bit like Billings over a kid. Lyon had Hammer chasing, crashing packs and pushing players out into space to get the smalls in behind him. Membrey is much more a pure key forward and last week he was agonisingly close to splitting the game open. He definitely loses something the other way though. Membrey isn't a pack splitter either which doesn't help and last night he was well held and probably a bit of a nothing contribution.

Guys with his resume don't often stay down and you'd back him to smash North next week. He really needs to score a couple of goals per game to off-set his lesser defensive game though.

I really think it wouldn't even be thought about if the media stopped talking about it incessantly. It's like telling everyone about a secret bar that no-one knows about. By the time you get there you can't get in the door because they've hyped it. I heard people in the crowd asking what people were booing about. I couldn't even tell which one was JHF, there are multiple blonde guys in that side and they all blend in. I couldn't even hear where it was coming from. Certainly wasn't on level 3 and it was there but not that obvious. Umpires were getting more boos when they walked off after the first quarter. I bet the media dropped the mixing down for that so that it wasn't heard.

It's like the secret ITK group. Stop telling us and we won't care

Owens form has been so good up forward though that it wouldn't surprise me if we keep him there and base the other forwards around him and King.
We need him as a point of difference in the midfield IMO, once we get hammer and King back i dont want to see him playing as a key forward

Hilariously inane take hahahaha

See my post directly above yours
Why just him then? Did we boo Tom Boyd?

Do we do the same for every player that leaves under contract.

It's pretty obvious it's mostly about mob mentality. If the Pies hadn't started it a few weeks back I doubt anyone from our club would have gone to the footy wanting to boo him.
