Yet Ross has mentioned him in almost every presser?
He‘s obviously seeing something we’re not. 🤨
I don't think so, he seemed broken when he said he was superb or what ever phrase he used. It was like he had to say it be positive about the Cordy.

On the game:
We won the 1st quarter.
We broke even in the last 2.
We shat the bed in the 2nd quarter.

Look at that worm.
The damage was done in about 5-10 mins.
What went wrong?
Just about everything that could.
Maybe the boys sipped the bathwater at Qtime?
Seemed to have no respect for the threat port posed.
Our trademark pressure was off.
Port players moved at speed.
Our players slipping over.

Cordy was in the ruck for most of this time too.
So is there at least some positive in that we managed to stop their momentum, stem the bleeding and fight it out?
Much the same as the Pies did to us in ten minutes in the fourth before we rallied … a little too late?
Does a 5 day break explain some of it - or is that just looking for an excuse?
Still frustrated but not too devastated by these losses.

I don't know what game you were watching but he disappeared after half time and Boak started to destroy us along with SPP. Horne Francis had a good 40 minute parch, not very on ground. Plus he butchered the ball so badly, I wasn't worried he got the ball.
I was watching St Kilda v Port Adelaide

If he wasn't best on ground he was a very close 2nd

He turned the game on its head in the 2nd qtr and ended up with 18 contested possessions and 11 clearances. Made our mids look 2nd rate.

When you win that much contested footy you are more than likely going to have some scruffy kicking bit he was instrumental in them winning the game last night

If you can't see that then I don't know what else to tell ya mate

Also Boak had more turnovers that JHF with less contested possessions and just 2 clearances

Everyone gonna hate me for figuring out how to put pics up here soon enough because I kinda like it :p but here is the tale of the problems yesterday

The red arrow was sinclair taking about 10 paces before deciding where to kick to, so had some time. The decision was Membrey in the circle - in the middle of 4 defenders. The direction Sincs ran should have seen that bucket load of space with the team on the open side.

I can only assume this is what cuddly Lyon is refering too with "so coachable" - sometimes you just need to do whats best in the moment, not what he has said. I imagine behind closed doors is less than cuddly , or will be soon if we keep doing things like this.

Not picking on Sinclair, just found it in a part of the game I was looking at, far from being the only one. But this was the worst options but went with the deep first mentality.

Yes! It was so obvious when watching. All those loose men, but a rare poor decision from Sincs.

Pretty close to the mark. Not unlike the second quarter and third quarter against Collingwood where the midfield dropped away and had to pull their finger out in the last quarter. I was wondering last night in the second quarter if Gresham, Clark and Steele had gone off, as I just didn't see them figure much in the play. We have an issue with our midfield which doesn't seem to quite work as it should. As far as forwards go, they need to lead more to the ball carrier and provide a better option- all very static last night and stayed too deep, hence the bombing deep, and let the ball get out of the forward half too easy.

Their midfield took over. Marshall had an amazing game on paper but was destroyed in the ruck. If you've got an average midfield and the hit-outs are all going to the advantage of the opposition, you struggle.

We probably want an elite mid or a more tap focussed ruckman next year. Perhaps look at a ruck forward from the state leagues at the midseason draft. Perhaps McBean would be up for another crack.

Those sorts of things look obvious from that elevated point of view and when you slow it down but at ground level and at speed it's not so easy.

That being said they are professional footballers playing at the elite level and should make better decisions, especially a guy with Sinclair's ability.

I would of put him in the top 5 for sure, I would of had Rozee, Sam Powell Pepper and Boak ahead of him.
Rozee was running hard, in everything and looked like he was on a war path the whole game.
Powell Pepper really set them up in the second half with his ball movement into their forward 50, without him I would hazard a guess and say they would of just bombed it long like us.
Book was immerse in the second half with his outside run so I'm happy to concede that JHF was probably on par with Boak. Two very good quarters for them both.
Also I don't really like using stats to say if a player had a good game or bad because that would mean that Cyril Rioli was an average footballer and that isn't true.

5 day break no excuse!

Well I think you would find yourself in the minority there.

I though JHF was huge and everything I've read and heard about the game since seems to justify that.

I'll he surprised if he doesn't poll well in the coaches votes and Brownlow night.

Boak played a blinder and Powell Pepper too, haven't seen them play that well in ages but like Wanganeen in the 2004 prelim the pricks lifted against us.

Not sure why but Port always seem to lift against us, even more than they do for the SA Showdowns, they have downers against other teams but not us.

Maybe we should take it as a compliment, they're a proper old fashioned footy club like us that plays with passion and has passionate supporters like us.

How do we magically find someone? Not a lot of ruck-forwards on our list.

King injured
Heath right profile but presumably not ready for senior footy
Campbell not really a forward
Keeler right profile but not ready for senior footy
Caminiti suspended
Allison injured
Sharman doesn't play big and presumably can't play ruck
Hayes injured

?
That’s why we’re keen on De Koning

I booed Kent Hinkley because he carries on like a pork chop on the boundary line and he is a Malcolm Blight acolyte.

Sue me!
Sue you? You'd be more like to get a sainthood for that!

Then again you ****ers overlooked him for Scott Waters and now we're stuck with him for eternity.

He probably had his worst game for 2 years which is still a high standard. He was pressured and made disposal errors which he never does. They did to us what we do to others.
