Autopsy Round 7, 2024 : Hawks get pecked by Swans

Lack of fitness is one factor. I maintain our blokes are not fit. They get outrun by literally every team. They are cooked in the contests and are taking shot when short of breath.

Been like this for too long now imo. Cardio and strength work lacking.

Because there's no space to lead to.

He has one KPP putting the body on him and another standing in his leading lane. The opposition show zero respect to Dimma or Gunston.

What we need is the other forwards to lead to open up spaces for Chol to run into.

Instead we get the same predictable high ball to no one in particular and have to hope that Chol is in the position to contest it.

Our forward line is so stagnant it's beyond frustrating. Same thing happens with Lewis.
This is coaching. How can we not be fixing this shit.

Wtf was that spray to Scimmers?

Mitchell holding him to a much higher standard than the rest of the team.
If rumours are true Clarko is sniffing around Scrimmers signature.

Not sure it's a great idea to make an example of one of the few players who has turned up with ever week this year.

We aren't exactly overflowing with quality players over 25 to let him go for nothing to Norf.

I have watched this same game plan not work’ for the last 6 years, WTF do we continue to bomb into F50, guys it doesn’t work FFS.🤦

Bomb long opposition run it out with ease, rinse and repeat.

The oppposition are actually happy to let us have a F50 entry as we offer very little resistance and we are set up terribly behind the ball. Normally results in an easy chance for them to score due to an open forward line.

We won some key stats if you are skilled team with a half decent forward line you win 8 out of 10, but sadly we are not.

Butchers on every line

No want to tackle, can’t contain when we do tackle.

Sicily form is very concerning, shadow of what he is capable of.

Serong subbed and Jack sent back is just wrong. 1st time I am concerned about our coaching staff.

Norf might get another priority pick and use it on Scrimmers 😂

pantsed by a much better team. We tried but their pressure was elite and we folded.

i think we will give the dogs a shake and take care of the saints in tassie.

We are missing lewis desperately. Chol has been poor apart from north. He deserves to be dropped but will be much better as number 2. Capability and effort not up to being the main man.
Sucks that they have a very similar list profile to us and they are that much better !

Can Sam and selection please play to some of our players strengths.

The constant shuffling of magnets at half time because our plan A is going poorly (surprise surprise when we line up like that) is not helping the development of our young players.

What's the point of throwing Weddle forward for a quarter when we are ten goals down or subbing off Serong to get Gunners a few cheapies in the back half? Why do we now throw Hardwick back after the opposition have kicked 15 goals?
Can’t agree more. It reeks of desperation but stems from no clue to begin with. It’s really worrying.

Our fowardline is sitting in the stands.
Lewis, Breust and Wingard would have helped a shitload today

One of them was sitting on the bench for most of the game…..

They explained it on the TV - Sarah Jones asked Mitchell why and he said because it was red time (47 secs on the clock) and he went for a risky kick - and what do you know Papley kicks a goal on turnover after the siren.

He deserved it.

The Ramsden as sub decision on the face of it is a little baffling.

Surely our plan all week was to have Lewis and Chol as key tall forwards. Why do we then last minute, change our forward structure and therefore game plan by removing a tall?

I'm sure there is method to the madness but not something I can immediately identify.

This is the first time i've put a post up ive really enjoyed reading everyone's comments over the last year or so. I'm not really sure what people are expecting. We have basically gutted our list and we have no chance at the top 3 picks due to the AFL. We have done well in the draft and probably exceeding where we should be. Until we get top end talent or we some how get free agents or trade players in we are where we are.

Geez I hope Mitch was taking notes. There's a lot to learn from the way Sydney play.
They dared us to kick the ball to out i50 and weren't worried in the least when / if we did. They toyed with us all day long like a mouse with its food.

The most disappointing part was how well we finished last year, to provide some hope and momentum into this year.

To release we are so far away from even competing for Finals.

PS also that last win of 2020 which meant we jumped Sydney on the ladder will haunt us forever. Went from being able to get Logan MacDonald to DGB. Yay

I cannot believe that every single Hawthorn coach in the box didn't see Errol Gulden running around the MCG on his feckin' own all day and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Schoolyard coaching, I mean Guldens just a plodder right, so no need to close him down....

All damn game, Hawthorn players just watched him jog along on his own and do nothing about it.

25 disposals 12 marks 2 tackles and kicked 1.1

Nobody laid a glove on him all day.

This can be added to the list of coaching errors on a very dirty day for Sam Mitchell.

In all seriousness - in what universe do you think Scrimshaw OR ANY of our players are going to go - "Well this Hawthorn teams isn't looking successful anytime soon - I know I'll go and play or Norf" this might be the stupidest post of the day

Yep - that’s worth a spray.

There is no method here, just plain stupidity.

Gulden is such an elite footballer I'd have tagged him with Finn
