Autopsy Round 8, 2023: North Melbourne v St.Kilda

We're 3rd playing much better, sustainable footy than last year.

I'm gonna jump on the balcony and enjoy the win. It's been a long time since we were a legitimate and relevant side.

Could be correlation, I think part of that has been the grind of the season rather than him being s**t. Against Carlton he nearly ripped the game open. Losing Caminiti and no real dominant tall forward has messed up structure in the forward 50.
True its a big ask to play Membrey as a tall forward, but he couldnt even get separation on the lead today. As I said earlier he was horrible, but lets see what he and others can do when King & Caminiti return.

8 goals against a historically bad team?

Nah, sorry that was utter rubbish. That was comfortably the worst skilled game I have seen this year.

We are going to get a very serious reality check next week unfortunately.
or we are going to have another very serious victory against a good club and King will have a triumphant return - fk a reality check from Adelaide

If you count getting sauced while actively trying to forget what my poor eyes have just witnessed then yep! I am!

Love a monday off
Lame but good that you're celebrating

Liked his work rate. Maybe the move to the wing in the VFL has been good for his development. Managed to give us an option all around the ground.
His defensive skills learned under Master Ratts came in handy a couple of times as well.

It'll be interesting to see if the selection committee are bold enough to drop Membrey given King and Caminiti will be available and Sharman played well enough to stay in the team. His inside 50 kick where despite there being 3 open saints players to choose from, he found the ONE north player with precision, was coach killing material.

Sharman is so nice to watch. Also his handballs were really quite good. He just moves across the ground well and has sticky hands.

he looks like he just accidentally finds the footy. He looks laconic and like he just drifts around doing nice things. A couple of his quick handballs released at just the right time broke the Roos defence and got us inside 50. Hard to imagine why we persisted with Cordy for so long even if he was helping playing a role.

And if nothing else the reinclusion of Hammo will add some much needed infectious enthusiasm.
Far from convinced he’ll come straight back in if Max also returns, as good as he was pre-suspension. It’s already hard to find one to drop, let alone two.

Feels like Seb won't have a spot in our 23 next year
Been reading that since 2018. Still waiting.

A win is a win. We are currently 12th for points scored, we’re not a good offensive team so it’s probably unrealistic to expect a 50+ point win against anyone. We’ve done well with our smalls but we need to start getting more from our talls which is obviously on the way.

I’d drop Pato and move Members into defence.

Based on Ross’ press conference sounds like he doesn’t want to talk about the game either 😆

Sounds like Gresh and Marshall will be okay. Also had a lot of praise for Owens and Phillipou. Will be very interesting to see what happens with King and Caminiti. Sharman probably deserves to hold his spot, Membery probably doesn’t if you’re only counting that game.
