AFLW Round 8 - 2024 AFLW season

Sofia Hurley is such clean and silky player with ball in hand, her footy IQ is high, and she is excellent in close at evading her opponent and creating space, she looks like she always has time to make the right decision. She is going to be a damaging midfielder in the coming seasons as her output increases, this season her disposals are up from 15 to 20 touches a game, and she has doubled her clearances. She is only 20 and in her 3rd season, her future looks bright.

What's the bet the microchip reckons that Suns goal was touched? I'm assuming the AFL have quietly put the review/overturning process on ice for the rest of the season... but if not, that coulda been uuuugly.

It's also a curious choice, with 18 seconds to go, to have the kick-in taken by Ella Heads who proceeds to not try to bomb it as far as possible.

Which isn't to say it was the deciding factor of the game--for that, see 6.30 left in Q4 (Sydney have just hit the front), massive centre clearance by Rowbottom, and the rest of the match is played in GC's forward half.

Liked the Dees supporter in the background giving the Obama Not Bad after McKenzie's goal.

Who knows why she was looking over her shoulder so much though, ain't nobody was catching her (not even Alyssa Bannan, who has been notably timid this year, but after 2 goals early today maybe her confidence will be up and we'll see her get back to that kinda stuff).

The Dees, as a whole, has been a little timid/subdued this season, but you get the feeling that the powerhouse is beginning to awaken, and if they can make the finals, they could do some damage.

Fremantle as a whole have dominated the game so far. Now if anybody would like to delve deeper and provide exceptions to my generalisation in the time honoured tradition of football-related discussion, please feel free!

WC don't deserve to be in finals contention, they actually look like they have regressed in the second half of the season.
WC were never making finals. Got incredibly lucky against Rich round 1 and collected a few weaker teams. They are better than I thought though. Freo clearly a class above.

If the choice of venues are heavily dictated by how the look and atmosphere is conveyed on TV, which is what the AFL says, think it's fair to say Leederville should be the Eagles' permanent home (or at least ahead of Lathlain).

True it is a bit (lot) rustic and literally rusty, but it does have a proper siren.
