What's everyone's thought on Burgoyne?
Is he a viable option to trade in for Mitchell?
Or splash the extra $30k and bring in Hibberd?
I'd stay well away. He has enough history behind him to say he won't maintain his current pace IMO.

Hibberd a much much much better option.

What's everyone doing with Mitchell?
Waiting until he drops to 410-420k and bringing him in for some spud, probably SK.

My move in Round 2 to trade him out for Swallow looks like a bloody ripped move now in hindsight.

Thinking of Sam Mitchell to Joel Tippett this week so that I am cashed up to go shopping next week. Thoughts?
Don't like Joel Tippett's chances of getting that third game any time soon. Could be wrong.
if worse comes to worse this is what i plan on doing

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for those desperate for a Rookie downgrade to Joel Tippett, he in not your man.

His JS is really bad after we got destroyed playing 5 talls in defense against the GC, one will definitely be dropped & he is definitely the first in line.

The natives will go feral if we go in with the same setup.

I'm keeping Mitchell, at least for now. I'll have at least 18 starters after planned trades, and as many as 20 if both Langford and Ambrose play. If I were to trade Mitchell for another player who might score 100 with the lowest scorer then not counting it would only gain me about 50 points. Not worth 2 trades, (2 trades because Mitchell would certainly be traded back in when fit). With projected scores of 1808 and 1875 in rounds 8 and 9 I think I can afford to carry him. If he's not back for round 10, which is my problem round, it could cause a headache though.

Mitchell out for up to 8 weeks - check the injuries thread for link. Throws a few spanners in everyone's trade plans no doubt.

Sadly he wont be back Round 10

Oh well. No big deal (for me).

Burgoyne has been playing a lot more midfield this year compared to previous years at the Hawks though. With Sitchell going down, I expect even more midfield minutes for him. Just remember, he was a premo mid back when he played at Poort, so it's not like he doesn't know how to score.

Georgiou->Simpson
Mitchel->Burgoyne
L.Taylor->Bubble rookie(JOR/???)

Leaves me 317k for next weeks upgrades and 19 on the field this week

Oh well, he's turning into Bartel then. That can wait until next week's trades though. Getting rid of Impey and Georgiou are my priorities this week.

Hello Billy Hartung.
I'd be wary of Hartung. It's a very similar situation to Sam Gray of Port. They both played their first games in matches where their teams dominated both the scoreboard and the SC points. In each of the next 2 weeks, in more competitive matches, Gray scored badly and was red vested. Then he was dropped.

Mitchell > Hibberd
L Mcdonald > Burgoyne

539k left, thinking D Thomas > Selwood next week then just trade up premiums while generating cash on the bench as the season comes

Have gone:

Mitchell > Hibberd
L.McDonald > Swallow
L.Taylor > Ambrose (assuming he gets named this week)

If TMitch not named this week then I'll trade him to Ambrose and have a bit more cash to splash next week.
Next week looking at bringing in Hanley (HUGE B/E), B.Harvey and Acres (If he plays well again)

Thoughts?

Gingy, I agree with Burgoynes capability, but with Sammy now cactus does it mean the stopping role now focuses on Burgoyne (especially if he assumes the qtr back running role)

Tossing up between him and Michael Johnson at this early stage (hibberd also in the mix but i have plans for that extra 50K)

Mitchell's injury should mean bulk time in the middle for Hallahan, he looks a much better buy compared to Salem.

For all those bringing Burgoyne in I just want to point out that he will most likely recieve a lot more attention from taggers with Sammy out.

I'm backing him in still, over the last 12 months he's been in his best form in his time at Hawthorn. Seems well and truly over his injury troubles.

But Hibberd the safer pick of the two IMO.

For an extra ~50k, you'd want to be sure he averages 10 pts/game more than Burgs from here on in - I'm not sure he'll do this.

I reckon Burgoyne would actually be the 'safer' pick - FWIW.

I didnt see the game but is Hartung more likely to get mid time as well?
