Given large break I think Sidebottom plays, no change with Lippa sub and HH into the 22 for me after thinking about it some more. I miss Markov and his Mo but he will need to back up again in the VFL I think
minimal changes I think still best. HH full game now and someone else sub.
Lippa maybe. Steele maybe. WHE maybe.
I also miss Markov. He was a favourite for me last year. He’s quick. He was also a good ball user last season.

He’s too bulked now. Not a footballers physique. Looks more like he’d suit NRL.
I’d like to see him lean out some of that muscle he’s bulked up over preseason. He’s lost some speed now I reckon. I have to check his stats but he’s usually right up there with sprint stats. He always looks slow now.
The idea that adding "bulk", if by that you mean muscle, lowers your speed is an idea that was eradicated sometime last century.

Increased muscle mass might make you slower over longer distances because it is more to carry, but presuming the increased muscle has been put on in the right places,it should increase his power/speed.

We need to freshen things up and get more speed into the team to beat the Blues.

Two straight swaps for mine:

OUT - Mitchell, Sidebottom
IN - Sullivan, Markov

Also sends a message to the squad that nobody’s spot is guaranteed, regardless of status or past heroics.

(And HH to get a full game please, with WHE/Lippa as sub.)

Like yesterday any game against Carlton will be a close one, no matter where the teams are on the ladder.

Although this will be a tougher assignment than previous years, McKay in decent form, Curnow will get his customary 10,000 frees, their mids are clicking. Gotta take advantage of their decimated backline though…. No Saad or McGovern and a proppy Weitering, and a rubbish Zac Williams (kept an eye on him for Fantasy purposes and he’s so frustrating to watch)

Not sure why Schultz is copping so much on here compared to some of the other lacklustre performers yesterday. I've said this 100 times if we used a first rounder on a kid rather than Schultz we possibly wouldn't be seeing them consolidated in the 22 for years, let alone playing one of the hardest roles in footy and kicking a goal a game. He's more susceptible to quiet games than even WHE or Lipinski in that role.

Anyway, Carlton are known to smash us on the inside. Even Cerra has been known to look like Diesel Williams against us. And Curnow will worry Moore as always and Frampton will have his hands full with McKay.

BUT if we can bring it to ground... We need to exploit spuds like Owies, Cottrell and Hollands rebounding out of the D50. If we can't do that, we don't deserve to win. I'd be tempted to bring Markov back in to play alongside Noble but I'm not sure who comes out of the backline to cater for it, unless he starts on the bench.

As others have said, I'd expect the running players of WHE and Sidebottom to bounce back after a longer lay off.

I'd like to see HH onto the field as well, deserves his spot.

The only player I can bring myself to drop for Markov is Lipinski... 🤷

Fascinating selection dilemma this week. Stick with those that have gotten the job done or start to refresh the side.

Against Carlton, I dont see a lot of changes. Sure we have plenty of passengers yesterday (Sidebottom, Crisp, Howe, WHE et al)

Unless there is an outstanding performance in the VFL there will be no change to the 23.

I would bring HH for a full game, and have WHE as the sub.

Harrison should get a full game imo

And wouldn’t be against one of Markov, Macrae or Sullivan getting a go at the expense at one of the running veterans like Crisp, Sidebottomor WHE

Mitchell probably too important to drop given our struggles with clearances already

Likewise no replacement for Cox… if he has a couple of quiet games

Pendles not quite the player he was but still contributes enough for mine

I’ve been saying it for several weeks that we are carrying too many 200 game plus players… especially in those tightly scheduled games with short breaks

But I’m convinced the coaching group will see this group through… ride it out… even if it means missing finals or losing in the first week of it

Good lord you’re so beyond reason at this point you can’t even tell light hearted jokes from real discussion

The irony of complaining about negative posters while being the fun police over people having superstitions

Just put me on ignore and go log off for a bit. You need the break.
Cuz, some people will tell their side till the Earth blows up. It's cool, just have to let some have their say, we have all been in that situation. Spinny will defend his territory till he can no longer go on. It's all part of BF community. I like a bit spunk in posters, it's all part of the game and good for footy

That was the best h and a game I've seen. Finals like intensity for 120 mins.
Starting to get into the year but a few holes if we are to contend again.
9.over 30s is no problem except when they all drop at once whic is happening.
Sidebottom Mitchell Howe appear cooked
Crisp Cox Hosking's e patchy at best
Miohek peddles Elliot in form
Issue is no replacement for a couple especially Howe with Frampton having a shocker.
Like for like to give a balance and still compete for finals and next week I'd go
In Harrisson for Side B
Mcrae for Mitchell
Mc Innes for Hoskin E
Jiath/Dean for Frampton/Howe I'd be keen but 3 changes is enough so leave it for now. Can swing one forward.
Still leaves a sub. Carlton are tall and more inside so Mitchell for break glass or Markov for pace
Assess conditions on night. Dry Markov wet mitchell

McRae for Mitchell?
Dean ?
Jiath?

lmfao Jiath nowhere near ready, McRae supds it up in AFl would get smashed by Cripps and Walsh, Dean over Framton, seriously are you on drugs?

Fin rarely if ever gets a run at it
Reef rarely gets a genuine run at it

They’re both either the sub or get ONE full game rather than a block

Sullivan? Dude is 26. Not sure what we’re waiting for. We tried Chugg ffs who had done nothing to justify even one game. Generally when you bring in a mature age recruit, it’s because you’re planning on playing them sooner rather than later. What are we waiting on exactly?

How about Carmichael? Any reason we can’t try him forward? He seems to play that role ok.

These fringe players aren’t going to improve or really show what they can do at the level if we never give them a genuine look in from the fringe.
Carmichael forward, we have 6 forwards that are 110% better than him and dont need replacing. Issue is our ageing midfield and we need t recruit 2-3 mids to replace them in coming 2 years

Markov for Howe if anything, Howe is our new Adams turnover king

Schultz could age into something resembling John Banner in HH (not Harvey Harrison). He could all too easily go to seed once his career is over. There's not much of him height wise, so outward spread is going to be obvious. He's one of those chaps who needs a partner that diligently ensures he stays in shape via diet and lifestyle. He could become a pin up boy for Lite n Easy or Jenny Craig.

Our players need to tweak the game style to better cater for our pesky mosquito fleet. Our smalls must become hunters not huntees. We thought Essendon was making a big mistake going in tall, while we were the smart ones playing small. There was that smug feeling of us being better at reading the room than the Bummers and that horrible Scott Brother.

The game didn't exactly vindicate our belief that talls would be a liability. As we don't have any spare healthy talls, the only ones with which we need concern ourselves are those that the opposition employ against us, often to good effect. Without Murphy, our tall defenders can too readily become liquid wax figures in the fiery oven of a game.

Watching the likes of Noble stream recklessly out of defence makes offence seem worth the risk. He cops a lot of flak, but he's easy to spot and fun to watch. He does some silly things, which we like when he gets away with it, but loathe if things go amiss.

Sidebottom out and Markov in for me.
