Round 9 Ins/Outs

If someone can please tell me what Sam Power offers to this footy side then I can leave this thread in peace.

I could understand if he could actually contribute something more than a kid has played less than 20 games can, but the sad fact is that he can't.

I would rather watch guys like Greenwood, Garlett, Riggio all get smashed and actually develop than watch a list clogger like Power get smashed week in week out and never get any better.

He got lucky against Port because he was given a job on a bloke who is soft when things don't go his way and was disgraceful last weekend. He was dropped for Port game and got a late call up, so on that eveidence he is getting a game based on one game against Peter Burgoyne.

And to quote Terry "If I see him run around the back for another handball receieve, only to take it and kick a floater to the opposition..... I'LL SPEW!!!

He can run out the game, he can run with some players, he doesn't panic with the footy and he tries to always fine a target(be it backwards and sideways).

not his greatest fan, just offering some points.

I'd say we might be looking at one of the three in's not coming up so, the Harris v Power debate is more like a Riggo/Lower/Greenwood/Rawlings/Wells/Jack vs Power. Three of which are not 100% Rigg's is not at AFL fitness and Ed needs a full run in the two's IMO.

That's comedy gold right there:D

And trying and actually executing are two different things.

It's like Shannon Watt, he tries , but still plays like a spud.

Don't worry, I am sure Arjen is not a hyporcrite and would not have attended games when we were playing Shane Clayton in 1999.

Or would he have not given a **** about some stupid stance about North Melbourne style footballers because we were winning?

If you can't be ****ed going and would rather play golf, just say it. As with the tightarses who look for any reason to make a stance against buying memberships, you look a like a fool with these shit justifications.

Zebs - stress less - my membership is paid for (actually coterie member for life now)

I will continue to bag nothing footballers who are holding our rebuild back.

And may even continue to avoid games when Power is selected ahead of what i would describe as NM style footballers. (namely: Greenwood/Riggio)

And in regards to Shane Clayton - I used to give him some frightful sprays - but fact remains he is still a better player than Power.

It's easy in the stands. :D

And like Shannon, All of Power's failure's are doubled on this forum. You'd think it Power fault we lost last week. It wasn't and again, he has not once picked himself.

Unless it's a hard tag, most midfielders will spend some time opposed to almost all of their opposing midfield group. Swallow, Harris, Lower and Riggio would have been "on" Bartel at various times.

Thank you for providing the simple answer to the burning question - "Who was on Bartel ?"

However, I regret to inform you that as your information does not assist in the general clutching of straws and provides no actual proof that the football dept is always right, it has been promptly ignored.

Thanks for your time.

Don't you like, live in Darwin?

So therefore you don't attend any games. Slightly hypocritical wouldn't you say?

So all your ideals/opinions are based on what you see on TV.

No wonder you are clueless.

Yeah I do live in Darwin. I attend maybe one or two games a year.

I would love to go to games but I can't because of financial reasons and time constraints.

The reason you won't go to games is because you would rather walk around some paddock hitting a ball in a hole. How bloody exciting that must be for you.

When I resided in Melbourne i reckon I saw at least 100 North games live. I have also grown up around football clubs as my Dad was heavily involved in a few clubs in the RDFL. I think I have a fair idea of what makes a good footballer or not.

A game. Not games. Went last week and the week before and will go next week.

But this week - I will be very excited about walking around the National GC which my friend, I can assure you is nothing like a paddock.

For the record I grew up at THIS FOOTBALL CLUB, with MY DAD being involved at a high level for 16 years.

I enjoy the fact that you are your own man and fight a very good fight - but please - Sam Power the best at anything at our club is just fancifull.

Power was voted worst on ground by the MMM boys. Firitto and Lower were just as hideous. Harris was nowhere near our worst and IMO has more credits in the bank than Sam.

Sorry to burst your bubble Tazza, but the worst thing about this whole farce was that Power wasn't delisted, we gave away a draft pick in the 30's if I remember rightly?

How's the Bulldogs from. Over the last few year's they have got rid of Sam Power, Jordan McMahon and Farren Ray all for decent picks. Now that's some great list management.

Sorry to butt into this heated thread but Farren Ray has been a revelation at St.Kilda. I had a "what the hell" moment on learning we were picking him up but he has been nothing short of exceptional in his games so far this year. He shows great courage in the marking contest, runs hard to make space and has demonstrated great vision and creativity so far.

Anyway I hope Sam Power has a ripping game tomorrow. I'll be there cheering him on.

I'm detecting a bit of angst over poor old power! Every team seems to love having a whipping boy & he seems to be our new one. But he is not too bad when compared to recent disasters - Piccone, Haye (you can't get worse than that trade), and the ever green Watt.

If Power is our worst, we are not doing too bad. Sure, some of those aimless bombs into the forward line fill me with a little murderous rage, but he runs hard, competes and is still useful. Whether someone else should be getting in ahead of him... difficult too say as he is there abouts. One thing is we do need to keep some experience in there, we can't keep stacking the kids.

He was the whipping boy at the Doggies as well. Maybe BF does have a legitimate point that he is a useless footballer?

So in summary, he tries. Apart from the bolded which is laughable.

He puts on the jumper each week. And IMO doesn't run out to fail. Like all players he is told what to do, trained what to do and does what's his told, to the best that he can do.

Power is not Judd, he is IMO the 22nd to 27th player on our list, with the year we have had, he is playing more games than he should.

The issue is with me, he like watt, he cops all the sh(t. Hale and Thomas have done worse but nothing apart from a few people.

The kids are all great, but even me the #1 Dean hater, knows that playing all the kids at once does nothing, they still need some, older, fitter, players around.

Im not sure 1 more kid is going to tip the scales too far. If he isnt up to it he needs to be dropped. And if we retain Riggio, a guy who has been around 2 or 3 years, he really isnt a baby isnt he.

Last week he (Power) wasnt up to it. He played bad enough a few weeks back to be dropped only to come in when Brady got injured at training so his form has been shit in the last 4 or 5 weeks, port game excluded. I know he isnt alone there with the crap form but we have Rawlings coming back to play a negating role. We dont need more defensive mids. Harding can tighten on a midfielder if Brady gets injured. And Lower is sitting back as an emergency in case Brady doesnt come up to start the game.

You are right in a full squad he would be 22-27th player (I reckon 25-30). And with all the injuries he is playing more games. But thats in a team challenging for a top 4 spot and ultimately a premiership. JB last week said we were 'rebuilding'. Which means we arent aiming for the finals (?). If so let us rebuild with 1 defensive midfielder. Power or Rawlings. And as Rawlings is a better shut down guy.

Just like Laidley uses the logic that Jones cant come in until Warren or Edwards goes out, I cant see why Power can stay in if Rawlings is in. We have 3 players in the centre with a ruck, with our impotent midfield we can't afford to have 2 of the 3 as defenders. Especially when the guy being tagged is still getting 30+ possies.

And I was the one making a case for Power pre-season, but really he has been disappointing of late.

we wont be serious contenders for a flag for at least 3 to maybe 5 years...the question is who will be in that team...cant see lower/power/harro/riggio being in that squad....if thats the case then only play them if injuries force your hand...otherwise play those players who will figure in that longer term plan....
