If I trade Clown Prince to a defender I have $510,000 to spend after going Lonie > Steele/Dale.

Which defender does everyone recommend?

I have narrowed it down to these guys that I like -

Gibson
Simpson
Johnson
Murphy
Doc
jm, of those, i would go gibson first, then doc
went to the game on sat night, gibson was often the loose man & has lisense to go forward or stay back... will take enough marks from opp.
doc - we seem to play through him a fair bit
simpson - i gave up. no more mr reliable, had a good game though - but might throw in 60 next week

Simpson usually plays the half back/wing role.

He's been so consistent for so many years but I am just worried that due to how shit we are that he will be inconsistent this year.

Age catching up to him too so could get more injuries like that calf injury that he had that kept him out for a couple of weeks.
lol - didn't see this & replied with similar sentiments

Gibson - should be lock for 100 every week if Lake and Frawley stay on the park.

defense is still a lottery
all the players you mentioned look good every second week

FWIW i have Gibson and i probably wouldnt pick anyone from Carlton.

Cheers guys.

Think I'll go Gibson as I have no Hawks in my team yet.

His performance, 8 weeks too late, i think he'll come good though.. The ball will be down back HEAPS.. But im clutching at straws with my side.. Was let down by so many this week, my whole list is on notice!

I have removed zac smith (too many donuts to mention) --> im on the nic nat train and Rich has been sideway/upgraded to Rocky!!

I prefer Gibbo or Johnson, whoever is better for your bye structure. Doc has been very consistent, taking a lot of intercept marks, one of the few Carlton players having a good year.

Looking at my team structure Gibson suits it the best so I think I'll go with him. :thumbsu:

Actually... If Goldy gets suspended, I can justify Goldy>Blitz, then use some pf the extra dollars to go Mumba>Hibberd
Damn, all off Goldys wagon pretty quick, sweet, all of yas trade him out.. Hes still a freak! A couple of down games are okay.. Everyone trades him out n then he becomes a POD

Help!

Tarrant or Clark or Hogan > Dale
&
CEY or T.Miller or Krak > Rocky

BUMP.

Also throw in TBC as a candidate for Dale, but wanna keep him in case Goldy is suspended

Probably gibbo, but ive put faith in simpson, i doubt hell be starved of any ball

Eh I'm going with Kade Simpson. He's one of the few quality players Carlton still have and would have picked him up last week if I had the money (spent it on Rocky).

He's a classy player, and uber consistent across a season. He's in his early 30s, and aside from his calf injury, he's been injury-free for years. No brainer for mine.

If not Simpson, I'd probably go Burgoyne over Gibbo, but that's just because I love Silk and everything he does. Classy player, and roams into the mid. Gibbo is just that annoying KPD player, and I don't get them historically as they tend to be annoyingly inconsistent (coming from a Griffen-owner :drunk:)

If I didn't get any of those, I would probably take a punt on Yeo. After that, I would then get Shaw or Macca. But I am not going either of them at the min, as I think they are priced too high and have missed the boat for the minute.

The poor couple weeks by Goldstein should present a lesson to all to avoid chasing buses that have already left the terminal.

TLDR - My order of defensive picks: Simpson > Silk > Gibbo > Yeo > Shaw > BigMac

Anyone going to To take a punt on Scharenberg down back?

Not alot of options at all..

For a smash and grab but it can wait until he plays a game I guess. Thoughts on when that might happen? Cheers!

I would think he will be in the team in the next 2-3 weeks.

Jack Frost copped a knock this week. I'm hoping it was just a corkie, but if he is out, we do have someone performing strongly in defence in the VFL.

It's Jonathan Marsh, and I think he'll get a game before Scharenberg.
Named emergency several times this year, and is well priced at $123,900. Also has dpp with FWD/DEF.

Plays half back/wing, and has pace. Would free up Goldsack to play tall, as we're a bit thin down there with Keeffe and Reid still missing.

Cheers! And you know how I love my bicurious boyz! Even though FWD/DEF is the poor-man's bicurious bandit - it still is helpful.

Burgoyne was average last year, and plain crap this year. I have no idea how you can say he's better than Gibson.

Surely Shaw is the number 1 pick out of all those guys?

I got Shaw last week so its out of Gibson and Simpson for me or maybe Johnson.

Swing him with H Goddard later in the year
