Re: Round 10 - Trades

So Playfair hasn't really got good JS?

I'm just undecided if he'll play out the rest of the year mate. I think he will be in the side as long as the likes of McGlynn, C Boltz and co are injured. But when we get our full team up and running toward the end of the season I'm not sure if he'll be a certain starter. Then saying that I'd perfer him over some other guys for sure. Specially with Bradshaw out and the fact we are weary of having too many younger/newer guys in all at once (such as Rohan, Jetta, Pyke, White etc etc). I think they will keep Playfair in as long as there are injuries, but after that who knows... Personally I think he could (should) hold his spot but it's a bit of a gamble i reckon.

If you like him then go for it. He shouldn't let you down for the next few weeks imo... ;):thumbsu:

Re: Round 10 - Trades

I like it. I'd be leaning towards Fisher. Or you could ride out Kennelly's injury, given you have good cover.

Cracking side anyway. :thumbsu:

My 1,978 this week sorta says otherwise

Want to trade Fisher in myself, because he looks in better form. Thought about riding it out, but I'm 2-4 in my BF league (dropped a game I shouldn't have this week) and lost my first game in my two mates leagues this week (including one to russea. Bastard). If Brown misses, I have to play Watts, Cunnington AND Silvagni/Webberly, and that looks a little risky, to say the least. I need to get a move on and start winning a lot of games.

As for me, 12 trades, $354k in bank. Got a critical game this week against a very tough opponent.

B: Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Hurn, Waite, Waters, Maguire (Webberley & Roberton)
M: Ablett, Dal Santo, Selwood, Barlow, Martin, Rohan (Bastinac & Shuey)
R: Sandilands, NicNat (Lobbe & Trengove)
F: J Brown, Pavlich, Didak, ROK, Franklin, Higgins, Pods (Duncan & Roberts)

Am an agonising $3k short of bringing in Montagna & Malceski. Am thinking I should wait a week, as Malceski has a high b/e (131) & Maguire a low-ish one (59). Either that or go for a cheaper midfielder...Bartel is the obvious one but am wary given I already have Ablett & Selwood.

Option 1:
Martin > Montagna
Maguire > $490k back

Option 2:
Martin > Murphy/Bartel
Maguire > Malceski

Option 3:
Martin > Montagna
Maguire > Malceski (next week)

Do like Option 3, because Monty is a better SC mid than Murph/Bartel. I think Goose can wait one more week.

Yeah would have to agree. I would think option 3.

Montagna is about cherry ripe now and Malceski would be great next week.

Here is my team:

backs: Hodge, Enright, Kennelly (inj.) Hurn, O'brien, Malceski, Maguire
emerg: Webberley, Davis
mids: Ablett, Swan, Goddard, ROK, Barlow, Howlett
emerg: Martin, Shuey
Rucks: Clark, Naitinui
emerg: Warnock, Lobbe
fwds: Brown, Pavlich, Didak, Goodes, Franklin, Pods, Tippett
emerg: Gumby, Rockcliff

12 Trades $139K

Option 1: Gumby or Rockcliff -> Watts or Playfair
: Then Martin -> NDS, Hayes or Montagna

Option 2: Do not trade and wait for Kennelly to get back

Option 3: O'Brien or Kennelly -> Gilbert or Gilbee

Option 4: Gumby or Rockcliff -> Watts and hold onto cash

Option 5: ???

Any thoughts? Leaning towards Option 1 but thinking twice about Option 3. Just going for league win.

Really like the look of ur team:thumbsu:
If you were to lean towards any of them would say number 3 and go
Kennelly > Gilbee
Gives you the MPP option with goddard in the mid could work out nicely for finals and the like

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Guys,
I'm thinking of upgrading Martin to a premium mid from Saint Kilda.

Who is better value

Montagna 535,000
Hayes 547,000
Dal Santo 509,400

I figure all 3 are good value at the moment. I just don't know which one will represent better value over the year.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I think that you will find by the end of the year they will all have a very similar average so in that case I'd go for NDS and pocket the cash for another upgrade.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

They one thing that worries me about getting rid of him i have to think about a captain every week lol

You really arent living up to your profile name Wise One because that would be one of the stupidest trades of all time. I dont even think I need to justify myself.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

I don't have cover at the moment for my rucks, Warnock & Lobbe are on the bench.

Is it worth bringing in Skipper as a back up and profiting $112k?

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Hmm, good or bad Hall got off? A week off would of been decent rest? Oh well, a lucky break I guess

Team as follows..

Hodge, Goddard, Enright, Hurn, Malceski, Waters, Maguire (Webberly, Davis)

Ablett, Selwood, Pendlebury, Cross, Barlow, Martin (Howlett, Banner)

Sandilands, Hille (Warnock, Lobbe)

Brown, Pavlich, ROK, Goodes, Higgins, Hall, Podsiadly (Gumbleton, Relton)

Got 10 trades and 222,800k left

Couple of options

Option 1, 1 trade :
Martin > 540k or lower (Looking at Murph, Dal, Gibbs)

Option 2, 2 trades:
Martin > 540k or lower (Looking at Murph, Dal, Gibbs) and Relton > Playfair and basically little left over how ever at least Playfair will play.
Option 3, 1 trade : Waters > 565k (Can be a sheep and get Lake with 2k left over lol)

Option 4, 2 trades : Warnock > Skipper and relton > Watts which would give me 277k. If I go gumbleton > Watts it would give me 446k for upgrades..

Tough situation. Not sure which way I wanna roll.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

gumby > playfair
+
kennely > gilbee

then next week i will go with:
Tippet > goodes (hopefully, just cant have him tearing it up and tippet scoring like 20/sylvia (back up for goodes)/possibly jetta (if he puts in a another good score, but getting him is unlikely)

sound a good plan?
would leave my team looking like this:

D: Hodge, Malceski, Enright, Newman, Gilbee, Waters, Maguire (Davis, Trengrove)

M: Ablett, Dal Santo, Hayes, Selwood, Cooney, Barlow (Bastinac, Armstrong)

R: Hille, Clark (Lobbe, Grimley)

F: Pavlich, Brown, O'Keefe, Franklin, Pods, Goodes/Sylvia, Fyfe (Playfair, Rockliff)

will leave me 8 trades, havent put much effort in this year, still doing well in my league at 6-0 on top of the ladder though, haha

anyone got any thoughts on my situation? as for the above question, i would wait and get buddy

You've got good enough bench cover to hold Kennelly I reckon. if it's only 3 weeks and you upgrade Waters instead you would end up with a stronger end team provided Kennelly gets back to normal scoring.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Wait I reckon

You get a real premium v an almost premium for the sake of 1 week

Buddy is looking very good

Thanks Hondo, I agree with you complete but I'm very tempted to go Higgins though as I need to focus on the final midfield Ablett.....

Team is:
B – Hodge, Goddard, Gilbee, Enright, Carrazzo, Goodwin, Newman [Hams, Roberton]
M – BASTINAC, Swan, Judd, Montagna, Hayes, Barlow [Stevenson, Armstrong]
R – Sandilands, Hille [Warnock, Roughhead]
F – Chapman, Pavlich, Brown, O’Keefe, Harvey, Goodes, ROCKLIFF [Hitchcock, P.Davis]

I think if I wait 1-2 weeks Hitchcock can be Franklin or I can take the easy route and bring in Higgins now…Bastinac/Stevenson will hopefully be an Ablett or another premium

Tough decision...GEEEZ SURPRINGLY $50K short can really impact one's team...!!!

NB - On paper it looks pretty good, but trust me, when you have Goodes, Harvey, ROK, Goodwin, Newman and you look at the performances of Pods, Fyfe, Malceski, I'd rather the last 3....ROFL..but hindsight is 20-20

Option 4 - no, Skipper's 40+ and 100K is not worth it...
Option 3 - you've missed Lake's monster scores, so if you get Lake what you are saying is you are willing to pay ~560K and are expecting him to maintain monster scores..
Option 1 - is the best one
Option 2 - just ignore the first trade and ask yourself whether Relton>Playfair is worth it...ignore the first part of the transaction

RE: Hot Tiges

Option 1, 1 trade : Martin > 540k or lower (Looking at Murph, Dal, Gibbs)

Option 2, 2 trades:
Martin > 540k or lower (Looking at Murph, Dal, Gibbs) and Relton > Playfair and basically little left over how ever at least Playfair will play.

Option 4, 2 trades : Warnock > Skipper and relton > Watts which would give me 277k. If I go gumbleton > Watts it would give me 446k for upgrades..

Firstly, I've been thinking I might go the Warnock > Skipper... Skipper should provide better cover (unless he gets injured that is) than Warnock anyway imo. At least he'll be getting games! Also, Gumby has done his job too & Watts should play out the rest of the season. SO option 4 sounds pretty good to me! Just as long as you have enough trades left over for all your upgrades that is. If not, then you'd have to go to the upgrade priority options (I.e. Get in one of the well priced midfielders, thus Option 1).

I'm probably going Warnock > Skipper and then either:

a) Martin (or Ball?!?) > NDS/Deledio/Bartel/Hayes
b) Waters/Kennelly/Hunt > Fisher/Gilbert
c) Rioli/Gumby > Pav

I already have Goodes. And my Foward line is the most concerning BUT there is no good FWD options and I was going to hold off and give Rioli/Gumby one more week and let Pav not hit his BE and go down in price.

Thanks for the reply. I was being sarcastic, wouldn't pay 560k for Lake. Just showing I could afford any defender. I am leaning towards option 1.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

2 trades this week

Martin -> Murphy/Bartel

Gumby -> Goodes

will leave me with $420k for my upgrade of Bastinac -> Montagna next week

What do people think Murphy or Bartel? Head to head would usually go Bartel but already got 3 Geelong players but 0 carlton boys, and Carlton have the best last 4 rounds
