Ok - we're about to kick off the S34 Cockup Night Best and Fairest, one of the most stressful nights of the year.....

First, some ground rules....

If Zevon makes a cockup - you need to have a shot.....

If Wosh makes a cockup - the person finding it can nominate a Fury or Bomber to be permabanned - so there is some incentive for paying attention here.....

    • Greetings all and welcome to the S34, Broken Medal Count. The Best and Fairest for the Roys FFC - so essentially, this is the Best of the Best, in the Sweet FA….

    We welcomed a few new recruits across the year – with DERRINALPHIL starting his career after a marvellous (insert Richie voice here) recruiting coup by 3KZ is Football , Kabanna returning from a break, club legend Barrels popping in for a chat, Aristotle Pickett coming back from the Gumbies – and then Ed_Gein returning from an extended hiatus late in the year – as a returning player for S35 !! What a great list of players and posters !!!

    Sadly, while we went very close this year – we were unable to get over the line in the GF – proving just how difficult these things are to win ! But we’ll back up again next season and try to get 2 out of 3 !!

    Obligatory posting of this video to commence the countdown, while I get my shit together.



    Any excuse really to post it….

    Just a reminder – this is what we are vying for tonight, the Broken Medal….

    After each game, members of the Leadership vote on a 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 basis for the best on field player for the Roys – posting is not considered. These votes are tallied up and the leading 5 are revealed each round – without the actual vote tally….

    Note – just because you aren’t in the leading 5 displayed each week, all votes are tallied for the final results.

    We also completely fabricate a whole heap of stuff for the other awards….

    Just to highlight how difficult it is to get this right - Wosh gave me the 7 best players and Zevon forgot an entire round and Mooch sent the entire list to himself, not me…. So let’s take a moment to share the love for the cockups generated during tonight’s festivities !!

    • How much of this can I recycle from year to year without anyone noticing ?
    • Will Roylion get lost and post in a match thread ?
    • Do I have any new gifs for the season ??
    • Will anyone notice the frequent changes of font (**** knows why it happens)
    • How many quarters in a game of Qootball ??
    • Will Mobbs win our posting stats, despite no longer playing for us ??
    So, without further ado, here is the season that was for Season 34 of the Sweet FA….

    which means where adjectives do not add any meaning as they are necessarily included in the noun.

    "Violent Brawl" is an example. A brawl is always violent.

    I look forward to space travel being cheap so I can get high enough to fall upwards. However upwards might be defined as going up what ever gravity well you are currently in so one cannot fall upwards in a gravity well.

    I am drinking a classic dry red so forgive any postings,

    Round 1: Vs Phoenix (Away): Roys win: 142 - 95

    The first game of the year, the GF rematch and a Phoenix side desperate to make amends. Enter, Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever !!

    Aristotle Pickett lasted 12 seconds into the first term before he needed a beer and a rest, which is a massive improvement on his pre-season times. It took nearly 8 minutes of arm-wresting to get the first goal (to Sterge) – before a late quarter burst to Elmer_Judd , zackah , royboy2 and 3KZ is Football and Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever put the Roys up comfortably at the first change.

    A rare highlight was this “effort” from Zevon.

    1 : 22.06 {FF} - Long handpass to the running Zevon.
    1 : 22.08 {FF} - Zevon walks into goal.
    1 : 22.12 {FF} - It just scrapes in for a point.

    Quality !!

    The Phoenix were clearly trying to make amends and hit the lead during Q2 – but cats and royboy2 weren’t having any of it, and with the assistance of zackah – the Roys were up by 19 at the main break.

    Mooch was defending well and even Zevon was getting into the action – as the Roys extended their lead in the third term. The Phoenix tried hard to close the gap, but a Zevon inspired final term saw the Roys comfortable winners by nearly 50 points.

    Best: cats by a comfortable margin, despite Sterge racking up 109 DT and 3 goals, royboy2 102 DT and 2 goals, and poor Zevon – who slotted 5 in his FF debut – didn’t even register a solitary vote….

    Also, special mention to RU_ - for his zackah inspired -6 DT in a near 50 point win !! An even team contribution, as they say….
