not in our team he wouldn't Boak > Gibbs our team needs boak more than we would need gibbs

that cuts deep, you're saying i'm worse than Rhode?

Gibbs has more untapped potential than Boak does.

Based in this thread. YEP!

Damian Cupido had a lot of untapped potential too.

I don't see that much more in Gibbs to be honest. He just lacks intensity at the contest, that rarely improves in a 23 year old.

Not sure Gibbs would reach any great heights with us in coming years, not what I'm expecting Boak to reach as he develops.

Gibbs at his best is good, but I think we need a Boak-type of player more than a Gibbs type of player.

Its all pretty much useless discussion anyway as Gibbs wouldn't be put up for trade.

Words hurt man, words hurt.

Boak is a A- at best, Gibbs with the right men around him could get to A+

But Boak is staying, so its all good and we can see how he develops

Some of you guys are acting like you hold all the cards, but facts are if boak wants to go you won't get fair compo, you will have to settle for what ever the highest bidder wishes to pay.

The best result for port would be for boak to stay

I think we agree that choosing between trading with Carlton and not trading, not trading is the clear winner.

Ok this is what would happen

Essendon offers: pick A, and player B

Geelong offers: A higher pick but worse player

Carlton offers: worse pick but better player

Port tells all the clubs that they have got a better deal somewhere else so they need to raise

Essendon offer Picks A and C and player B

Geelong improves their player and same pick

Carlton offers up 2 worser picks with same better player

Port go, lol still not close

Essendon pull out

Carlton finds a third party to spruce up the deal

Geelong do the same

Port pick between the best two deals

Port don't lose their bargaining power until every club bar one says we're no longer interested in Boak, or when there is 2 hours left in trade week

But besides, he is staying

When does Gibbs come out of contract?

What do you think will happen if we say no?

Do you think Boak will be happy at GC or Melbourne?

p.s. might be worth reading this...

Heard it all before.

We don't have to settle for the whatever the highest bidder wishes to pay. Just ask Collingwood.

So lets not just give up our best player, let's throw in pick 5ish too. You guys crack me up, really. This is funny.

I'm not going to debate who is better between boak and Gibbs, cos they are both top players. I don't think blues will give Gibbs, nor do I think boak will leave.

HOWEVER, if our hand was forced, and a Gibbs / boak swap was on the cards and blues needed a sweetener, then it would be a later pick ie 30's.

So, we go into a bidding war with you, Geelong and anyone else wishes to play. He's a quality player, meaning a few teams will want him. I'm sure we'd get some decent offers. This is not like Ebert last year who was a fringe player at the time and didn't want to go anywhere other than Port, so there was no bidding war.

It's all moot because he won't leave.

Boak > Gibbs. Without any shadow of a doubt.

Interesting on the AFL360 clip Robbo said the same too, said if he was at Carlton he would trade the two in a heart beat lol So maybe we need their first rounder to sweeten the deal?

I be very surprise Boak ends up at Carlton, just dont make sense. The dude is happy at Port, hes one of the highest paid players. If he does leave surely is because he wants to be with his family and one would think it be at geelong.

Almost time for a thread title change I reckon.

I don't believe Travis will leave but I get nervous everytime I read the thread title...
