Yeah, he's injured, we're a lock to offer him a juicy contract now.

Lol yep

Problem I have is Geelongs comp won't be top 10 and they don't have the players I want.

He's just being a good family guy, pstew. To be honest he'd be a bit of a dick if he made that decision without consulting his family considering the situation with his father.

I thought you were going to say he would be a dick to leave us for Geelong :) contrary to their hopes their empire on domination is over, Travis could be in another sucky team for ten years, cough Stevens Cough

The Victorian media really seem to think he's going. I wonder if they know something or if it's just wishful thinking.

Butcher, Trengove, Lobbe, Salopek, Gray all still here after being rolled gold gone at various stages in the past 2-3 years according to Media Springs, Vic.

Its good, because it means the fans are losing touch with what made their club successful. Which for a member managed club means the opportunity for an off-field decline goes up.

Would be beyond awesome for him to renew his contract with us the week after the bye leading up to the Cats game

Ha yes that should be the week he re-signs with us. I know there have been a few assurances around here, I'll still feel uneasy until that pen is put to paper.

my view on this is that he will stay, if he had doubts related to his family it would have been know early on and as i see it to go home to discuss with family leaves him with no option but to come back and sign or say im going, if he was going he would of used standard line "i'll discuss the contract at the end of the season" but if he comes back from the mid year break and doesnt sign it will give a clear indication that he is gone and would probably be the first player to declare his hand mid season.

if you are worried about the idea of travis leaving you obviously invest in newspapers and watch tv and deserve to live in this fear!!

Or read other team boards Simba?

i don't read other teams boards... but going by the previous page here, the geelong board is more humorous then informative! i mean really? the injury is a front because he's signing for geelong? that's just a pure fantasy

Not in their eyes :)

It is all about the money and little else. His family is flown over all the time and even if he did return he probably would not live with them. He gets a free car, big money, lots of extra perks and is treated like a demi god. Can't see him going anywhere...just the games managers play to get the best contract possible.

That simply is not true, (money) and unless you know that as fact I wouldnt be spreding rumours on an online forum. Its not opinion its rumour.

Regardless of whether he stays or goes I'll always be disappointed in Boak. Bit like having your wife say she is considering leaving you for another man but will discuss it with her family before making a decision.

I don't see Trav leaving.

He just played 100 games and we just won three on the trot. Surely Trav sees himself as a leader of a much rosier future. Geelong have been brilliant for the last few / several years, however their window is finally coming to a close. The ageing and retirement of their quality core of players makes them an unattractive destination. That's the way the system works.

Off topic (tangent), what is the point of having agents when the players are guaranteed at least 95% of the salary cap? The salary cap is the real driver of payments. The agents seem to be taking a cut by playing the clubs and the players off against themselves, for no net gain. I would prefer to see the money go directly to the players rather than funnelled through self-interested agents.

Boak would be worth pick 5 + for sure (at least the way I rate draft picks). Though I really don't like the idea of trading one of our best players for a draft pick, no matter how high. Even if we got a lesser player, it would be much better IMO.
