On the Greg Lynn committal proceedings Crown Prosecutor Mr Dickie said 'It is clear hopefully from the document, and if it's not clear from the document it's clear hopefully from the charges put before the court, that it is alleged of course that the accused acted with murderous intent when he allegedly killed the two victims.'

I reckon it is too, the only thing going for it really is it's not that far from the airport. There's far better areas, most of the pilots I know live around Gisborne, Macedon or on Mt. Macedon.
I was just at Mt Macedon today, much more pilotey!
But yeh any of those areas you mentioned will give much more land space, even acreages, which I reckon would be more of a draw for some of those pilot types that like to tinker with technical/engineering toys

I'm really looking forward to the end of speculation and hearing more details about what happened on the night of the crime.
It’s one of the odd privileges of our age that for a brief time after someone’s arrest you get to see the nuffies pile onto their Facebook and call them a campaigner until their account is deleted.

Maybe some answers will settle people down.

What might make a family man with no criminal history and a solid career snap and do something so awful? Then pull two bodies at dead weight into a trailer to take them somewhere else to bury and desperately try to cover it all up with fire.

Protecting someone else?
does not scan for me, the paint job thing kinda says it's true though..it's the coverup etc etc

* UPDATE: A man from Caroline Springs has been arrested at a High Plains campsite

Over 100 years ago in 1918 two notorious murders were committed in Wonnangatta, online groups today are still trying to work out exactly what happened. One of the victims the station manager and the other a cook. Their bodies were found a long way apart weeks later, shot to death yet the only recently fired weapon was found back at the empty homestead.

Fast forward to today and another mystery is unfolding in the same area. Russell Hill an experienced bushman and Carol Clay's abandoned well equipped vehicle and burnt out campsite was discovered, they've been missing for nearly two months and nobody knows where they are.

Who started the fire and who put it out? So many questions.

Searchers on paws, foot and horseback, drones and helicopters haven't found a sign of them.

Thanks, I'll have another look at it. I took that image of the timeline directly from Channel 9 today, it's probably wrong because I don't remember them finding the drone.

More speculation but given his job, family etc you'd have to think it's probable that an altercation has escalated too far by accident (initially) resulting in one of them dying. And from that fork in the road where he can either own it and face the consequences, or go full killer - he's chosen the latter.

The spray job is a fascinating insight into someone who seems a rather intelligent human with his job. And that he's still out there camping as of today is also a little mind boggling to me. I find it impossible to imagine him going on about his normal life.. But I guess there's plenty throughout history that do just that.

Just for accuracy both their mobile phones and the drone are missing.

Investigators ramped up an intense campaign in recent weeks and officers drip-fed information to the public, including CCTV images of a vehicle suspected to be linked to the case.

It’s believed detectives had the suspect under heavy surveillance for some time, warning in October the person involved should feel “very uncomfortable”.

There is now speculation they had listening devices in both his vehicle and home over weeks and months.

I imagine a pilot to be cool, calm and collected, especially under pressure.
Must have been some extraordinary circumstances to create a situation where the same calmness under pressure was needed for a cover up.

Just proves you never know who is who sometimes , remember he was arrested at 5.30pm yesterday, so his
Lawyer presumably would have been there in the morning, all day interview.. wonder if charges will be laid tonight

News.com.au said he was ‘tracked’ leaving his home on Monday, and was picked up at Licola.

What’s interesting is that, while Licola seems superficially close to Wonnongatta, it’s still a fair drive and is in the opposite direction to the one he was thought to have driven in when leaving the campsite (ie Hotham).

There might still be a link (ie he drove back around on the night or he could have moved around a bit yesterday). Will be interesting.

Might be they were worried he’d try to dispose of the car.

True. And while I'm speculating massively, Russell could have been the aggressor given snippets of what we've heard over time, and then it can only take one punch/whack/swing/shot/whatever and it's lights out, goodnight. After that who knows how anyone would react given the consequences they're facing.. But he's reacted with full cover up. And some pretty poor covering up at that given the car was the smoking gun and he's been cruising around in it with a different spray job.

If the story is along those lines where it's an altercation turned deadly I feel we'll get all the facts out of the case in time, rather than some premeditated killer who might go to his grave with his secrets.

Even given covid he could have flown to a different country and stayed there pleading a nervous breakdown or similar excuse.

Obviously doesn’t look in the rear view mirror or up above or check his vehicle for trackers; maybe he wanted to get caught?
