....which is why I (and others) think that we have at least another year or two of pain whilst these players move from under 0-46 games to the 50 - 100 game bracket...

Agree. I'd say at least 2-3 years. 2013 was our first crack at some elite young talent with early picks in several years. Billings, Dunstan, Acres are at least 5-6 years away from their peak output and we need another 2-3 drafts like 2013 (will be hard to match 2013 with players left to trade).

I like our team balance this week. Rapt that Shenton has got a game even if he does start as the sub. Reckon he could be our new Jason Gram. Fairly confident we will win back at Etihad, just hoping Joey isn't a late withdrawal. We need Longer to pull his finger out too and negate Warnock's impact. Still sticking with the Sainters by 16 points.

I just hope that if Siposs kicks a goal, it's one we wouldn't have gotten if we'd played another player who doesn't have Siposs' skill set. Siposs needs to make himself indispensable with his ability to do things others cannot.

We've brought Siposs in to help us score goals. We can't rely on Roo and half of Stanley (when he's not rucking, and he'll do more rucking with Longer than he would with Hickey). He really needs to kick 2, ideally, and have a few goal assists with some nice lace-out passes from just outside the forward fifty with that lovely boot of his. But having said that, he still needs to fulfill the basic expectations of any player in our team, which is good defensive work - that's what's been holding him out of the team. So, I'd expect at least 3 or 4 tackles, as a minimum.

So 2 goals, 2 goal assists, 4 tackles. Marks and possessions will take care of themselves.

Still, that is a much healthier structure in the forward line than I think we've had all year. What I really like, is that all five of our real forwards in this game - Roo, Rhys, Siposs, Billings, Schneider - are not only going to be capable of kicking a few, but they are also excellent pinpoint kickers into the fifty. Soooooo much of our problem lately has been doing all the hard work to get the ball to about 70m out, and then we kick into the forward line to.... ugh, nobody. Or the kick makes the leading-forward have to work impossibly to get it, or it drops at their feet, or over their head... ugh...

When we have given players like Riewoldt and Stanley half-decent delivery, they are such good contested markers, and such good leaders (in the sense of leading for the ball), that they usually take the mark. I think Siposs is much the same in that regard.

The last piece of the puzzle for our forward line this year would be Lee, in form and in the ones. We get that, and we really start to give the opposition something to think about in the forward line. I remember reading from Tony on SS (who goes to training a lot, and knows a fair bit) that apparently, despite all appearances, Lee is actually fulfilling the specific tasks required of him by the coaches - that was a week ago, before the Doggies VFL game, but still. I don't think he's been expected to kick goals, so much as get his fitness up. Once he's done that, he may well come straight back in.

If by mid year we have this:

HF: Schneider (+30%mid) | Riewoldt | Stanley (+30%ruck)
FF: Siposs | Lee | Billings (+30%mid)

That will be about the best forward line we could play this year. Give it some time to settle and find its rhythm, and it might surprise a few opposition backlines.

Yeah I like it. Hopefully that's Richo's plan as well because I am well and truly over watching this Riewoldt or bust forward line. Not that it really matters what I think but surely it bothers the team too!

I just hope Sipposs does what is asked of him by the coach... nothing... nothing less.
:thumbsu::thumbsu:
Some players can stagnate under certain coaches and some players receive a new lease of life with a new coach. And some players can get a serious kick up the arse and a final warning by some coaches as well.
Think Siposs is that type of player.
Lets hope this is the start of him playing some good footy under Richo's coaching style. Really looking forward to seeing how he goes tonight.
Its like hes starting all over again. Good luck to him:)

May I just say that this morning i drove to work at 6.55am thinking 'another ****ing Monday, another week of the daily grind... urgh'.... Then by about 7.25am I remembered THE FOOTY IS ON TONIGHT!!!

Today doesn't feel so bad now!!! Probably the only good thing about Monday night football is the distraction from work during the day

It sounds like he'll be played deep forward so in that role he needs to kick goals, probably 2 or 3 goals at least.

Providing he shows the required workrate and effort though I'd like to see him stay in the team as he gives our forwardline better balance and he has the skills to pay the bills with his strong overhead marking and long accurate kicking.

A fowardline of Riewoldt, Stanley, Siposs, Schneider and Billings will be pretty exciting for us if it clicks and a big worry for opposition defences.

I still find it hard to get used to, footy on a Monday night just doesn't feel right and it seems to take forever for the game to roll around.

I can't imagine the players would like it either.

I just hope Siposs isn't made the sub. Would kill any chance he has of holding his spot.

Round 1 - Billings
Round 2 - Savage
Round 3 - Savage
Round 4 - Saunders
Round 5 - Ross
Round 6 - Savage
Round 7 - Saunders

Although the sheer amount of "s" in his name would seem to make Siposs a likely sub, a more prescient observation would be that they are all mids.

My money is on Clint Jones.
