apart from gears glad richo swung the axe on savage and simpkin. they absolutely threw in the towel and its just not good enough for some players that have been in the system for a while and should be showing a bit of leadership.

i have no problem with just not being good enough, but to give up and throw in the towel is just disgusting

Shenton, Bruce, Dunstan. Shouldn't have dropped Bruce, Hawks lol'd at us and just put Schoenmakers forward and our structure couldn't cope. Dunstan is an automatic inclusion and Shenton for Geary; gives us the speed and versatility we lack losing Geary and Wright.

Reckon you are harsh on Simpkin. The one thing i reckon he would never do is throw in the towel. He may have a few faults as a footballer but giving up isnt one of them. no idea on Savage. havent seen enough of him. On the side I would think there will be at least one more player dropped. We have a couple of training sessions to go before the game.

Newnes pretty lucky to survive IMO
Would be extremely stiff after the season start he's had.

Savage has been an enormous disappointment so far. Now that the NZ game is out of the way he needs to put together some big games for Sandy before I'd even consider bringing him back.

On the plus side, no Waite or Carazzo for Carlton.

Solid 4 minute vid from the coach here:

Newnesy and Webster had probably their worst games of the season last week, but they weren't alone. Richo will back them in for most of this season imo.

Simpkin stiff. Almost felt like it was Jackson Ferguson-esque. Bringing him in for one game which we were absolutely slaughtered in. Then dropped straight away. Hope he doesn't drop his head. Really keen to see Bruce and Dusntan back in the side. And I'd be happy with any of the 4 other in's. :) Someone gets their chance, hope the grab onto it.

Interesting that all three of our 2013 draftees will play together for the first time on Monday. Just 8 weeks into their first season. Mav Weller will be out there as well. Kinda sucks that we still haven't seen the class of 2011 grace the field together yet. Hopefully that happens sometime this year.

Didn't someone say in the review thread that Simpkin only had 2 goals kicked on him against the Hawks? If that is correct I think he is pretty stiff to miss out, but I'm guessing they might think Bruce is a better match up.

newness is a ripper I wouldn't be dropping him thats crazy to even say that. hes been one of our best contributors so far.

re-watch the game from the 2nd half onwards, watch the effort that sees him casually running between contests

7 of Terry Milera's 26 career goals come against Carlton.

2012:
Round 7; 3 goals, 3 behinds
Round 23; 3 goals, 1 behind

2013:
Round 7: 1 goal, 3 behinds

Would like to see Milera in for Saunders. And Sipposs in the fwd line.

Perhaps leave out Billings or give him the vest. Not fussed about Bruce or Shents but the scum don't have too many talls up front. So give Shents a run... and drop Acres for now.

Who would have thought that a rebuild could be so exciting.

Can't really complain about those changes.

Most of the players that needed to be included have been and Geary, Savage and Simpkin were the obvious outs through injury/poor form.

For the final interchange I'd like to see Siposs, Jones, Milera, Bruce.

Carlton's fowardline is fairly small though so another smaller runner might be a better option than Bruce.

I doubt Acres will be dropped when he's named to start on the ground and Billings has been one of our best players the past few weeks so definitely won't be dropped or given the sub vest.

So many "forgotten men" in the ins.

I hate bringing a player, especially a young player, in for one game and then dropping them, so not too happy having Simpkin out. But can't really complain that much.

The Facebook page posted that this will be the first time Billings, Dunstan and Acres will play together, so I'm assuming that none of them will be outs.

Slightly off topic, but you sir have a fantastic avatar

He actually did a couple of nice things under pressure I thought. Despite a filthy day he did better than usual in dealing with decisions with out time to think. Sometimes you can break through despite having an on paper poor game.

^ Thanks, Dopey.

Richo just said "Siposs is close. About as close as you can get" to selection.
Might be a hint...

Sounds like he's all but selected, I think Richo realises we need more goalkicking options.

Richo said, reading between the lines rather than actual words, that he is hanging for Lee to build up his tank to get back into the seniors to support Reiwoldt as that third tall along with Stanley..........which is what a lot of people on here have been saying....
