Hi Guys just wanted to say what a gun is SDK. I was very high on him during his draft year and seeing you guys get him made me sick. At the time he could've been anything. Someone as big as him who moves as smoothley, and with his confidence and skill is awsome. It sucked because you guys were always gonna develop him amazingly. I still have no doubt that he could be an incredible CHF if needed. Stoked for him and you guys also happy to see him come on much quicker then expected. Looking forward to seeing him go well in the future.

Im gonna be the stick in the mud here so i expect the abuse...

And i not taking anything away from him as ive been building him up as much as anyone..but we need to remember he's gonna make mistakes and we need to temper the expectations for time a little.

There is no doubt hes been brilliant and has a high ceiling we aint seen the best of yet...

Just dont want to see the sooking when he gets beaten and has bad day... cause it will happen.

Its a truism in football that you are only as good as your last match, so enjoy the highs and lament the lows

Dont ride the highs too high and take the lows too low.

I love this kid. He's such a thrill to watch.

Highs and lows are just a part of life. He's got the best support around him in the likes of Stewart. I'm excited to get Henry back in the squad too.

The future is looking bright now with our twin giants--SDK down back and Neale up front. Not bad for the oldest team in the comp ;);)

SDK was just on AFL360, he absolutely loves the club and raved about the impact that Harry and Egan have had on his development.

Robbo asked a throwaway question about whether he seems himself playing alongside his brother one day and he said not likely as Tom is happy at Carlton, ‘and I love Geelong so much.’

We’ve got a good one here.

Actually no - that was the set of rules prior to current rules. under the current rules we'd have the opportunity to bid-match, now if we decided we wanted to keep Hawkins and pick 7 and select Boak (who was our expected pick 7) we could use the points system, so no no Nathan Djerrkura, Simon Hogan and perhaps Dawson Simpson as a future second round pick.

These things are highly speculative of course, if things had gone to plan that day we'd be celebrating Boak and not Selwood (and not minding)

Have to say that while I would prefer Selwood, Boak wouldn't have been a bad pick!

I always wish we got him instead of Dangerfield even though one’s peak is a level above. Maybe that wouldn’t have been a bad thing in this case watching how things turned out.

I think Boak would have been better for the team overall, If football was a 1-1 sport Danger would have been one of the greatest of all time.

SDK on SEN right now.
Sounds like a really well balanced bloke outside of footy from a good family.

And when talking footy - very humble, respectful and appreciative of those gone before him, currently there and working with him.

Long future in the game and hopefully 1 club player.

Nickname Big fish from his luv of swimming and time at the beach surfing.

Fish ?

of course I cant listen to it on my phone now bc SEN paywalls their streaming service for overseas listeners.

Yup... 5 a month to listen to streaming SEN ( just the regular programming not AFL)

5 bucks a month to lsiten to Gerard and Kingy... thatss free to air in melbourne... thats free to stream in melbourne ...but 5 a month for me.

Of course... I could GAF about the 5... its the principle..

Rant over.

What a recruit. The most exciting draftee in yearrssssss (no offence to anyone else.

He could be anything, but entirely, it seems like he is just happy to play. Lucky us.
Exciting is a good word Mattlock because of the way Sam plays... so athletic, can jump tall buildings in a single bound when taking some great grabs or punching the ball away from opposing forwards, has exceptional football nous for one so young but particularly for a young tall key position back-men, he's years ahead of his time and he loves to attack by foot or by hand as soon as he gets the ball in hand which is something that our backline has been sadly lacking, so all in all Sam's been a breathe of fresh-air and he's certainly rejuvenated my enthusiasm when watching the Cats. Sam's match-up with Aaron Norton of the Bulldogs on Friday night should be one for the ages, not one but two excitement machines in a classic one one one dual, how 'exciting' is that!

IMO thats all good... but for me most impressive thing is his hands- elite work feeding the ball out of contests from ground ball gets or bobbles from someone of his height... its amazing. Easy to forget he is only a dozen games into his AFL career

gees thought there could be nothing negative in the dekonning thread right now and yet here we are. People sooking about others potentially sooking in the future.

To help us out can you post us the list of players we are allowed to sook about if they play badly and the list of players we are not allowed to sook about if they play badly?

dekonning - no sooking.
narkle - yes sooking.

whats the rule with the others?

Big fish.

Go Catters
Ah so thats where the name big fish came from. I thought he must of been called that cos the players thought he looked like a fish so i was trying to imagine what his head would look like in a fish bowl to see if it had fish looking qualities. And i couldnt see it.

but a good swimmer. yeah ok i should of thought of that first. :p

Obviously I, along with every other Cat fan, loves what SDK gives us.

What a player!

This week he locks horns with a player who is a wonderful contested mark. Great test for the kid...and no easy task for a 12 game player.
