Good trade for the Hawks. gets them more points this year for the Finn bid that is to come.

One concern however is that they have Downie coming next year so will need to trade back into that second round for him I would think.
Chances are we trade our first next year and split it for points for a Downie bid. It's not like the top talent is rated that high next year.

Why we need a key defender.
My sister is a Melbourne supporter and is glad to see the back of him. Take that as you will.

Genuinely curious mate, why do you think we drop off so dramatically?

I can see several teams (including my mob) leapfrogging the Hawks next year, just think the Equalization cycle is about to kick in for Hawthorn.
Inevitably you will blood more kids next year (I assume) and I think it will be a development year for the Hawks (whIch is actually a good thing)

Yeah that's fair enough! I generally think the same thing. Think Melbourne, Saints and Blues are ready to jump up the table.

Just hoping Mitchell coming back helps push us forward again.

So basically they got Frost for a 2020 2nd round pick.

Reckon Hawthorn paid overs.

Not exactly. 2nd round pick next year is likely to be approximately pick 30 (which will slide as they always do now) and we get back pick 42. Give pick 50 and get back 61. 4th rounder thrown in for us.

So, basically Frost cost 2 pick downgrades - one from 30's to 40's and one from 50's to 60's.

(Given predicted draft strength and needing points for Maginess, Frost has not cost much at all IMO - which he shouldn't.)

On a sillier note.

Can't wait to see Sicily bullet a pin point perfect pass to break the zone/press to Frost who turns, runs his full 15 dodging two opposing dedenders before...

Kicking it out on the full.

Not silly at all lol.

Frost won my annual Paul Bower Headless Chook Award this year. Zac Jones runner-up.

Surprise surprise, both on the trade table.

Gotta say, I'm pretty happy with Hawthorn filling there list with mediocre journeymen with dubious disposal, or dubious knees.

No doubt the media will fluff them all summer about how their genius coach will get them back to their rightful position in the top 4 in no time flat. Personally I'm pretty sceptical. To me their list is middling at best with not a lot of young talent apart from the Worpedo.

Elite Pace and breaks the lines with his desire to take the game on. Great attributes a defender. Not a bad mark. If Hawthorn can improve his disposal and decision making then he will be a good acquisition. Think his best footy is in front of him. Disappointed we lost him as I think we need him. As soon as we get an injury to lever or may (and it will happen) we have to put Tomlinson back (not why we picked him) or put in Oscar McDonald.

That's okay, we generally turn them into solid contributors. Players who stay at Melbourne generally fade away.
