he will play M5

My midfiled is Swan , Selwood , boyd , higgins , mcviegh ( want to sell him ) and martin

For M5 I'd consider players like: Dalziel, Masten, Zeibel, Side-butt, Swift, Palmer. Depends on who you can afford, who you don't already have and who you are prepared to take a punt on... Might wanna try to upgrade M3 and maybe even M4, can't see consistantly high scores coming from that bunch. You must have kick arse forward and backlines.

For $345k you could consider Masten.........he showed the other night that he has the goods and 4 a M5 u'd b looking at someone to average u round the 70 mark and he is one that I think is easily capable of that and beyond this year!!

Wat r peoples thoughts on Daniel Wells 4 a punt..............from all reports he is nearly back 2 full fitness atm and is ova his OP and we no that he oozes ability and has the potential.........he is only priced at $361,900 and averaged nearly 76 from only 7 games last season!!

Hadn't given him much though TBH, you make a good case for him though. Might have to do some research as to how his pre-season has been, do you know off-hand if he'll play this weekend?

Not sure if he will b playing this weekend or not but from the report on the AFL website (check it out) is that they r hoping to get a game or 2 in him b4 the season starts.............so like most players will have 2 wait and c how he performs and more importantly pulls up aftawards!!

Just wouldnt have thought there was a need to risk a purchase such as Goodes with whats on offer in the forward line. Maybe a little bit of research and leg work on your part will highlight that to you.

You should have a look at my forward line chammm, it'll turn an atheist in to a believer its that good. Thought about throwing Varcoe in but then I lol'ed at myslef and didnt

He could easily average 100 in SC but he has injury concerns. In saying that there has only been 2 years where he hasnt played >20 games since his debut in 2003.

Pretty sure he was the highest scoring player in the NAB last year with around 130 avg but then broke down and never got going in the season proper. If he is fit I cannot ignore him, esp now we have other midfield options to take the pressure off him.

The safe bet is definitely Masten though.

This is my first year playing supercoach and just wondering how many gun midfielders I should have in my team.

At the moment I have Ablett, Cooney, Selwood, Pendlebury, Masten, Martin, Scully and Morabito.

Is that the right formula I should have ?

It all basically depends on how the rest of ur side balances out really.....cause there is nothing wrong with the formula u have gone with and 2 b quite honest it is a good midfield, 3 premiums in Ablett, Pendles and Selwood and 2 cash cows in Cooney and Masten which should get u a good return this year and a starting rookie which is pretty standard....however there is quite a bit of money spent on ur mids so depending on wat the rest of ur side looks like, I would suggest u downgrade one of the bench rookies which may save u round $70k and mayb either Ablett or Pendles 2 sumone around the $500k mark, which may save u round $100k - $200k, hence u will b able 2 upgrade in other possies!!

what does everyone think about Steven Salopek?

There's a bit of discussion about him on the Port SC/DT questions thread.

What are your opinions on the position swapping SC is introducing this year. The reason I ask this is because I am stuck between Ziebell and Palmer. Ziebell is a forward/mid but Palmer is $12k cheaper and has a '09 average that is 12 points higher.

Remember that you will need another fwd/mid to be able to swap them. While I don't think it is vitally important, I think being able to swap players around could be a very handy way of getting your midfield bench players to cover short term holes in other positions.

Alot of teams i've seen posted have gone with 2 rookies starting out of Scully, Trengove, Martin and Morabito.

Scully looked ok last night, but Trengove and especially Morabito looked way out of their depth and will probably take a while to adapt to the AFL standard.

Has anybody else reconsidered their midfield structure after last night..????

Pearce and Barlow from Freo will be elevated b4 DeBoar, Barlow is a certain starter rnd 1 for Freo as he looked at home on the park and read the play well with Judd like vision with the hands as will Martin (Rich) and maybe Connors (Rich), But i'm going with Martin and Barlow in my Starting 22

Any 3 premium mids? Thats easy. Ablett, Swan, Montagna if you were going by lasst years stats. :D:thumbsu:

Barlow from Freo looked mighty impressive last night, Broughton 2.0 written all over him. :p He's a lock in on my bench, may even start on the ground with Martin! Trengrove from the Dees and Scully looked a bit out of their depth but will improve.

Anyone giving Andrew Walker from the Blues any consideration? Something keeps telling me to pick him as my 5th midfielder cause I have the feeling he is going to be this years Andrew Swallow. :thumbsu:

I'll be starting a rookie (Martin) as my 6th. I'm having same dilemma with my 5th mid. Tossing up between;

Ziebell
Cotchin
Walker
Masten
Dyson
And after yesterday, Greenwood.
