Maybe he hangs out with Elvis and Jim Morrison watching News 24 and Sky all day.
Christ imagine that party

Jim trying to drown you with Whiskey and the King shoving PBB&J sangas frosted with 'luude powder down your neck

As naff as Elvis was by the end, imagine being a teenager in 1955 and hearing Heartbreak Hotel for the first time? It would have blown your mind.

Is there some particular reason this opinion has any more weight than those who elected Morrison & will decide his future some time soon.
Probably not if those admit that they made a mistake and vote differently next time, knowing what they should know now

“He has been entirely guided by pragmatics, and short-term political advantage, and his failure, for so long, to act in Australia’s interests reflects seriously on his moral, mental and practical fitness for the highest office in the land.”

These guys. Monumental decisions to be made about global warming and this is their focus:

Selfish buffoons.

Mind you, they're almost certainly right about Scummo leaking against them, he's got plenty of form - witness his efforts to white ant Higgins and Berejiklian as just a couple of examples.
If there's an upright way and a devious way, he takes the low road every time.

If it is the law to do so, I have no objection.
Whomever made the donation is entitled to expect the law of the day applies to that donation.

Let's just ignore the obvious point that these are the lawmakers themselves we are talking about and in particular the former Attorney General and senior Cabinet Minister and actions within Parliament where those laws are made.

The issue is surely about what standards we expect from those at the very highest level of government and those who represent us, regardless of what might be codified in legislation or regulation. Transparency and accountability is not something that can be enshrined into law but rather a standard we, as citizens, should be demanding from those in power. And those standards are represented by the protocols and rules that apply within Parliament itself, such as the rules applying to the Members' Register of Interests and accepted protocols around adhering to the Speaker's determinations.

As has been said many times in this thread by using its numbers to trash those accepted rules and protocols applying to Parliament and its members, the Morrison led Government is openly closing down any public scrutiny of how MPs receive external funding and support. It most obviously opens those MPs, and more importantly senior Government Ministers, to hidden corruption and influence from outside - from criminals, businesses and even interests acting on behalf of foreign governments or corporations. This is a matter of concern for all of us and extends well beyond party politics.

And even if we judge the actions of Morrison and his government on the decisions taken this week in relation to Porter on just the politics alone it makes even less sense and begs the obvious question... 'WHY?'.

As Niki Savva put so precisely this morning on Insiders:

On any level it was a despicable action. That it has received so little media attention makes it even worse for those of us who believe that good government actually matters.

It is his go to position. He is the guy we have all met at one time... he wants his name on the door but not the responsibility or the work that goes with the title.

Things like that are how once good men become bad men doing bad things.

In this instance, i'm 100% for it

Trampling on peoples rights for political advantage is dubious behaviour at the worst of times.

And yet here you are putting the Liberal Party above democracy again and again and again.

You are pathetic and weak

I certainly put the law above politics if that is pathetic/weak, I'm guilty.
You have a strange view of democracy in action. Next time you take another view into account will 'BE a FIRST'.

Democracy is not just the law.

You are using the law as a shield to hide behind so you can justify putting the Liberals before democracy.

It is pathetic and weak

Not sure I understand the context of this.

Whose rights are you referring to specifically in relation to my comment to which you responded?

I assume you mean the rights of the public in relation to the honesty, accountability and transparency of the actions and motivations of the public servants who represent them? Because trampling on those fundamental democratic rights is definitely what we saw last week in relation to the Porter donations issue.
