I'm only half kidding when I suggest an IQ test should be a condition of being awarded suffrage!
The problem is a lot of people only watch commercial TV channels. Which are pretty much a propaganda arm of the LNP. When was the last time Sott was on 7.30 or any other ABC news or current affairs show?
He's regularly on Kochie or Ch9 spouting his latest slogan while downing a beer.

Like Morrissey said, that joke isn't funny anymore.

He's scared of Laura Tingle.

Senate estimates have begun for the energy portfolio and, if you were hoping it might shed some light on the deal for net zero, I am here to disappoint you.

Senators have been quizzing the government this morning about the agreement between the Nationals and the Liberal party for a “process” to work towards a net zero by 2050 target.

The department has told the hearing it’s not in a position to answer questions because the information is cabinet in confidence.

Officials told Labor senator Jenny McAllister they can’t answer questions about whether they’ve been asked to provide advice about the National party’s list of demands in exchange for an agreement on a net zero target, whether the department had been asked to provide advice on a government-funded coal-fired power station, or any advice on costs.

Senator Zed Seselja also told the hearing the energy and emissions reduction minister Angus Taylor had made a public interest immunity claim and would not be tabling the government’s net zero emissions modelling in the parliament.

Both McAllister and the Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young asked Seselja if he knew what was in the deal the Coalition had struck.

Seselja said he couldn’t comment on cabinet processes.

Hanson-Young:

Are you aware of what the deal consists of? I’m not asking you for the detail, I’m asking you if you even know what’s in it, mate. You don’t know what’s in it, do you?

When you thought Australian politics couldn't sink any lower, Barnaby invites you to hold his beer. These clowns represent less than five percent of our population and are holding us back from doing even our bare minimum so that they can grift for their benefactors. You can see why an ICAC scares them shitless.

This government is an outright joke. Morrison is about to jet off to Glasgow with his shiny new NetZero policy and Australians have absolutely no idea what it means.

Morrison's words were "I need to explain this to the Australian people before I explain it to the rest of the world".

Well we have no idea;
  1. What the actual plan is? - Net zero is just an announcement.
  2. What deal has been done with the Nats to achieve it?
  3. What the cost of the plan is?
  4. What the energy policy associated with the plan is?
We know absolutely nothing. And the conservative media will pump out puff piece after puff piece to protect Morrison.

This is outrageous.

I'd 100% be that guy if i was a pollie.
Pin your opp to the wall then poke his forehead constantly until he snaps

All these campaigners jinxing it i swear to god......

Gavin Excell did it in 19 with a thread.
All we need now is adz to mysteriously reappear and call the win for the scum
I’d like to see random to appear, things couldn’t have gone further south for her with her love for Porter and ScoMo that resulted in the disappearing act.
Porter was the next PM and a brilliant talent and asset she was talking up non stop and ever since all his dodgy dealings have been uncovered and he’ll be voted out at the next election and that’s in a best case scenario the worst that will happen to him.

Let's not forget her fawning over Saint gladys :p

It's almost like she was here purely to troll or something......

How is sentiment towards Gladys Liu? Is she in trouble?
I feel that most of Morrison’s lackeys in Victoria are in serious trouble bar a few safe seats that won’t change in the foreseeable future

And the Nats get another seat in Cabinet as a reward too as well as the secret pork barrelling of hundreds of millions of taxpayers' money into pet projects.

All for just a non binding 'agreement' that puts us on the same page as Russia in terms of delaying climate action.

And to make matters worse the Nationals leader doesn't even support the agreement.

Independent SA Senator Rex Patrick is proving to be the star performer on the Senate Cross Bench in terms of calling the Government to account over the past 6 months.

And I think he is dead right on this too. BTW this is exactly one of the key issues identified in the post mortem report into the ALP 2019 election loss (prepared by Jay Weatherill and Craig Emerson).

But also important to keep in mind that, as we saw in the last election, there is no point in laying all your cards on the table weeks and possibly months before the real campaign starts only to have them form the basis of a Murdoch led scare campaign based on mistruths and blatant lies. What matters is what happens in the 3 weeks of the election campaign but I still think Albanese needs to lift his profile substantially in coming weeks.

For the most Labor make me want to spark up a crack pipe but where was this expectation and pressure on the opposition last time we changed government? The Libs were elected on the back of a series of vague promises most of which they broke within minutes of taking office, and they replaced a competent government.

Yeah, yeah. Absolutely true to the point of being a truism. But so what?

The point is, and it is an obvious one, is that the mainstream media in Australia is dominated by Murdoch and Nine Entertainment which have a clear agenda to promote AND have laid off decent journos in the hundreds over recent years so their content is almost entirely click bait opinion from favoured commentators without any sense of reasonable analysis. And then there is the issue of the backing of billionaires to saturate media advertising.

What decent and non-partisan analysis there is of the policies and activities of our government on sources such as the ABC and independent media is simply not favoured by those whose votes need to change if we are to see a change in government.

There is no point whining about it and saying the playing field in Australian politics isn't fair. That is bleeding obvious and it will not change between now and the next election. It certainly won't win that election.

Having the best policies and the best integrity in a binary election system is simply not good enough in the current environment - that is what the ALPs own post 2019 review said.

As the Weatherill/Emerson review made patently clear, it is up to the ALP to accept that it must do a heck of a lot more than their opponents in terms of campaign strategy if they have any hope in hell of winning enough seats to form government.

And the key part of that strategy is obviously the performance and more importantly the public perception of the leader.

This week’s Newspoll, presumably conducted October 20-23 from a sample a bit over 1,500, gave Labor a 54-46 lead, a one point gain for Labor since the previous Newspoll, three weeks ago. Primary votes were 38% Labor (up one), 35% Coalition (down two), 11% Greens (steady), 3% One Nation (up one) and 13% for all Others (steady). 50% (up one) were dissatisfied with Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s performance, and 46% (down two) were satisfied, for a net approval of -4, down three points. Anthony Albanese’s net approval improved one point to -9. Morrison led Albanese as better PM by 48-34 (47-34 last time).

Those numbers look encouraging but given all the stuff ups and scandals that have afflicted the Morrison Government (and in NSW) in the lead up to that poll do you really think that is good enough to provide a sound platform leading into what will again be a one sided election campaign to see a change in government?

Given what happened in 2019 I don't think it is.
