On Jelavic, he strikes me as a bit of a mercenary **** to be honest. He's not even that good, otherwise he'd have a lot of EPL interest.

Might want to take that statement back. Looks like he is finally on his way:thumbsu:

On the defence, Weir's (and I love him don't get me wrong) lack of pace means we are defending much deeper than we should be every game. This is probably survivable in the SPL but it Weir is in the Champions League be prepared for more 4-1 type losses.

Boogie and Webster would be a fair pairing but I wouldn't even count on both to last the season injury free. Another Central Defender is needed to cover injuries, but I doubt we'll get one for the first team due finances.

We definitely need pace out wide to improve our play in the SPL and almost certainly need a defender to help our CL campaign. Winning the SPL should remain the priority though.

Wide player of course is important because Lafferty isn't suited to a wide position (I'd be happy to debate his worth as a Striker). Glad to see we have got in Vladimir Weiss on Loan for the season to play out wide. Could be a handy player. Winning the SPL MUST be the Number 1 priority this season (as it should be every season) and we should forget about making a huge impact in Europe because we don't have the quality to do it.

I wouldn't necessarily take that back. I'm happy he's at the club but I'm sure Rapid fans would view him as a mercenary. If he is a success at Rangers we will sell him to an EPL club in a season or two (this is not a bad thing).

Hopefully he proves a great acquisition but I would put him in the "Cuellar" category of loyalty rather than the Davis category. I will give him a chance to prove otherwise and will support any man in the red, white and blue.

Possibly Benelouane as an extra CB. Weir will start every SPL game he is fit for, he is captain. He will probably start every CL game he is fit for as well, too our potential detriment.

Lafferty looked more threatening out wide against Killie then when he was up front near the end. Too bad his final ball is worse than mine.

Rapt that we've got Weiss and Jelavic, 2 quality signings! We just need another centre back and another left back as cover for Papac and I reckon we're good to go. A left winger would be nice as well but I think Smith is fairly set to play Laffery out there with Wylde as the understudy.

As you said Ray, the depth down the entire left flank is a problem for Rangers which makes me puzzled about why the club released Stevie Smith .

I could understand if it was for fitness reasons, but its not like he's been replaced with another player who can play in those two positions.

Rubbish league with no real talent in it but hopefully now that Celtic and Rangers are weakened and almost as bad as the rest the Old Firm duopoly can be challenged by the second tier of Hibs/Hearts/Aberdeen/DU.

Terrific performance yesterday - althought hamilton are horrible. Kevin Kyle will dominate once fully fit and I realish the prospect of him gttng on the end of some Andy Driver crosses. Stevenson back next week who I think will be a revalation considering he was playing semi-pro football in January - has had an awesome pre-season.

And just watching Hobos/Rankers - Weiss will dominate this league.

Be afraid SPL, be very afraid.

What a player! Changed the game when he came on, the first hour had been pretty gash with Lafferty and McBride getting sent off just before the half.

The first goal was well set up by Beattie, laid it on a plate for Miller. Once Beattie gets some fitness and match practice he'll be much better.

Weiss changed the game though, he was awesome. Played a beautiful wall pass with Davis to drift into the box and then set Miller up with a great pass for his second.

Miller then finished the job running on to a through ball and smashing it home for a hat trick.

Jelavic is still to come as well ...

Was he the goalkeeper? Pitiful cheating lowclass carry on...still soccer players are representative of their age and class so what to expect?

Obvious troll is obvious.

Good win at home last night, hope it isn't just false bravado. Maloney seems to have not been an overweight limping mess for once.

McGregor in the biggest piece of acting since Lafferty, speaking of whom, yep he was it again. Horror tackle and rightly sent off and drew a Hibs player into being sent off (wrongly) for handbags after the tackle.

The sooner we punt him from the club the better.

As for the game, Weiss made a huge difference after coming on for Beattie who had set up the first goal and already looks to be a class above the SPL. Moomba, any chance of Man City selling:D

I can see us playing two up front with Naysmith and Weiss on the wings with Davis and Edu playing in the middle. Quite happy with that.

As for Celtic they are off to a good start, so no getting ahead of ourselves. Their Midfield/Wingers are scoring and haven't let a goal past them yet. So improvement there already.

I don't get Lafferty. He's average in ability (being kind) yet appears to want to be some kind of hard man combined with entertainer (crazy runs with no final ball and robot dancing celebrations).

Has he ever actually provided an assist? (I'm sure he has but you would be surprised looking at his passing).

McGregor's dive was dumb. Miller did his job as finisher superbly. Naismith was great again. Weiss was excitement personified.

CL draw is this week sometime right?

Nikica Jelavic is now cup tied for Rangers in the CL after the Vilers capitulated to Rapid Vienna in their Europa League playoff.

Still, it could be worse, like losing 4-0 to the 6th place Dutch team when you had a 2-0 lead from the home leg of a Europa League play off ... LMFAO!

Yeah ****ing Villa;)

Don't though we have James Beattie and Kenny "goalmachine" Miller for the CL:D. Have a strong feeling we'll be heading into the loan market for a season long loan for another striker just for cover in Europe (debatable if we need that cover for 6 matches however)

Look its all part of the marketplan and after all we did win the League the Season we went out of Europe so early to Kaunas in the CL so its not the end of the world. Plus at our normal rate we won't be far behind them....
