At least we won't get stuck with the Alberton clubs after the news that AFL Victoria wants them to become a second division of the West Gippsland league.

After some of the hare-brained thoughts raised by the six Alberton clubs and AFL Gippsland over the past 12 months, it wasn't an impossibility for them to join our league. After all, all six clubs tried to join the Ellinbank league only a few weeks ago, which would have had a major impact on clubs such as Longwarry, Buln Buln, Neerim Neerim South and Catani.

I don't know if anyone outside league headquarters would say the merger is a success, it is just what has been foisted upon us by AFL Victoria. I do have concerns for population differences and posted the relative populations from the 2016 census and have brought up the concern for SEFL having 3-4 feeder clubs which need to be diluted for greater parity. All clubs should be in a competition where they can seriously consider themselves to be a challenger in any given year and that needs to be worked through.

That being said I anticipate that measures being taken by the league will bring about a situation where all teams will find their level and it is still too early to make specific calls there but I do agree with Narre and Cranbourne that 10 teams is better for the Premier division in this competition.

If there 'will' be more than 1 club drop from premier, which other clubs besides Healesville are considered?

Which clubs have applied or held talks with the league in regards to dropping down or going up?

Which 8 clubs should be in Premier? Wandin, Upwey and Olinda (the next teams above Healesville) are all stronger than any former Outer East Div 1 clubs and have been for a while. The Div 1 premier will go up but if further clubs are requested for by the League I only see Pakenham and Officer (assuming neither ends up as premier) as clubs with all over strength in football depth (Reserves and U18s) and netball who might consider it.

If Div 1 isn't won by a former Yarra Ranges club such as Monbulk or Mt Evelyn then I wouldn't anticipate any such club volunteering to go up but then again I might be wrong.

If only the premier club in Div 1 goes up then that may limit the ability of the league to drop teams down. If Premier does end up being an 8 team comp next year then there will be teams such as Berwick and Narre considering their future in this League beyond 2020.
It wasn't that AFL Vic foisted it on us or them. Many of the SEFL clubs were actually looking at the MPNFL or SFL but the MPNFL clubs blocked it. Seems the precious approach from our southern neighbours is becoming a huge thorn in the side of fixing Victorian structures - not helped by the Board down there, either. OEFNL has handled it a whole lot better and the AFL Vic may even have to step on the MPNFL and the Board to get some sense into them.
Some of the SEFL power clubs are a much better fit for MPNFL or SFL, but they had no choice. I feel their stay will be temporary and we will bring in other clubs better suited to our comp.

Mpnfl changed there constitution so afl can’t add teams to their comp without Sorrento’s say so

Hi everyone,
A group of YGFNC players will be partaking in Dry July to raise money which will go to the Alexandra FNC and the family of Jordan Purcell following the tragic accident over the weekend.
For a lot of the players it hit really close to home, reminding them of the death of Cooper Ratten after a club function several years ago.
If you’d like to donate or even join in the Dry July you can do so via the following link (which hopefully works as I seem to be having a bad run with Facebook or video links lately)

Just wondering if any clubs have recently released a club history book or whether clubs who have released books in the past still have copies available.
It would be nice to add another history book or two to my sporting library.
Powelltown have just released their Centenary book. It should still be available through the club for $35. I went up there for their game with Alexandra when it was released a few weeks back.

Monbulk will be producing an updated 125 year book next year ...1895-2020. They still have a couple of books from their Centenary reprint for $5.

I know Silvan (2002 - Mud, Blood and Survival) and Upwey-Tecoma (Tiger Boys 1946-2012) released books but not sure if they are still available. Not sure what other clubs have produced books in our region. A bloke named Charteris was working on an Olinda-Ferny Creek book but I'm not sure if that ever made it to print, I haven't seen it. Many clubs have had centenaries in recent years so they may have done something.

A pity that Santo Caruso doesn't have his Melbourne Sports Book store anymore as there were dozens of club history books from around Victoria and Australia available there.

Yarra Glen have a book published a few years ago, I think we have a copy available if you'd like one.

Upwey has some history books still available $20.00 each plus postage

Berwick openly telling Wandin people today they are gone at the end of the year is my mail. Will be cutting their netball loose and shifting to the EFL. Not happy with the Outer East set up and have no interest in hanging around to find out how it ends up. The “term used car salesmen” was used in reference to HQ more than once.

Rubbish

Would not surprise, as contrary to what they say publicly, they don’t care about Netball. Take it to the bank.

Berwick and Beaconsfield are Football Clubs, Narre Warren and Cranbourne are Football Netball Clubs. See the difference,

Be a lot of steps if so

EFL clubs would have to vote them in (far from a certainty)

AFL Vic would have to tick it off (far from a certainty)

The league and club would have to put together a plan to enter them into a division, as unless they go straight into D2 or lower, there’ll be multiple relegations required (Premier and D1 and already 10 club comps).
