NicNat Yeo Kelly and Sheed - now that quartet must have the lowest endurance of any starting CBA.

We need to get these 4 fit, robust and then hope they can stay on the park and drive the full quarter efforts.

Not impossible but not likely based on the last 4 years.
Let's go for the "Not impossible "then shall we

After watching preseason training & having the bias of a supporter, i still cant see us getting out of the bottom 4. Another year of good recruiting will help as well as the recruits we have gained over the past 3 years.

Lol, this is just such a ridiculous take.

2021 we still had an injury riddled season and weren’t in the bottom 4, why would you expect less than that with a clean injury run?

Don’t point to 22 because nearly every team is coming bottom 2 with that run.

guys like Xon and young Edwards were walk up starts last year. Now they sit at seventh or eighth in midfield pecking order. Barass,Guv,Cole,Duggan,Hunt,JJ,Hurn,Edwards,Basso is a bloody good backline in any bodies lingo.
OA,JD,Ryan and Cripps is a fairly handy forward quartet.
It’s rare for us to not have at least one maybe two new recruits make an impact. Hewitt and Ginbey look ready to go. Long looks a smokie.
Hough will get a gurnsey somewhere. SPS will have to be at his best to get a gig.
Our big man stocks are looking fit and they will need to give their all as NN is a lock . Shuey shouldnt be needed in the guts as Yo,Kelly and
Sheed will be there and Hewitt,Ginbey,Chesser, and Culley will all be around the place.
TAB paying $10 for top eight. Think I may have a stab at that.Barring another catastrophic injury run our list is nowhere near bottom four.

When I look at oppo mids like Richmond:

Dusty, Prestia, Taranto, Hopper, Cotchin, Bolton etc it's top shelf and we've got a long way to match that

but good signs.

If we are ignoring our older guys then sure, but it would only be fair to ignore their older guys in Dusty and Cotchin (which, when excluded, makes that midfield much less intimidating!).

Dusty/Yeo (Dusty is the better player obviously, but a fully fit Yeo is still more than handy!)

Cotchin/Shuey (fairly even I would say, maybe a bit biased but there isn't that much between them)

Bolton/TK (TK just, Bolton is good and gets noticed as he is flashy, but TK has been carrying a midfield for a couple of years)

Toranto/Sheed (pretty close, Sheed probably as Toranto is yet to cement a full time mid spot - or at least he hadn't at GWS, granted the age difference isn't accounted for though)

Prestia is a gun, and Hopper I'm not sold on yet. So yeah we're 1 player short of what they have, but I would say other than prestia both teams have the same issue at the top end (age).

Some of these are very poor takes, the biggest difference in the midfield is Naitanui.

Absolutely carried vs Richmond last time.

I don't think our list will get us anywhere near top 8 no matter what. Whether we get out of bottom 4 or not probably depends on injuries during the season, fitness levels, onfield organisation and the overall mentality of the squad. Injuries during the season obviously can't be predicted or accounted for in advance. The other factors could be by astute and honest observers of the pre season plus maybe a bit of inside knowledge or info. Only the media are really are in a position to offer that, but they are neither astute nor honest. So those variables will remain a mystery to us.

Lets remember how horribly unfit a lot of our side was going into last season, with some players displaying beer guts and others failing to ever break out of a jog during games. The entire club must have known how behind the curve we were in terms of fitness needed for the AFL the squad was. Yet i don't remember the WA sports media ever saying anything about it during pre season. I think they probably knew or heard whispers but chose to not report it.

Think I'd rate Bolton ahead of Kelly at the moment
If TK was playing as 3rd/4th/5th mid we don't know how good he would be....

Oh wait, yes we would he was an All Australian and top 5 in the brownlow when not the main man.

Bolton has rarely if ever been the #1 mid in that side.

Well NN wasn't mentioned at all, hence he was excluded in my comparison.

But add him in at something like full fitness and our starting 4 match up well with most teams (on paper!).

All very well to say players were fat ,unfit, etc but guys were coming back from injury and being pitched straight into battle.Gaff played injured.Duggan played injured,Cully came from serving fast food into a AFL side.Hunt said that coming from over east he didnt realise just how bad it was behind the scenes. Its very hard to be fully switched on when you havent got a preseason under your belt and your carrying niggles.
