Hurn and Shuey to retire at the end of the year.
5 wins 16th on ladder.
Leading Goalkicker Jack Darling.
Campbell Chesser to make his debut.

If two of the young mids can take the step up to B grade, Naitanui and Kelly get back to their best it’s a top 8 team.

Midfield is by far the biggest issue, think the backline is elite and the forward line good.

A fit Naitanui is worth 4+ wins alone, look at the impact in the Richmond game or the entirety of 20/21 for example.

Backline will stand up, forward line won't be able to kick enough goals, Midfield is too young and the veterans are still injury prone. Bottom 3 team
Darling, Allen, Ryan is a top 8 forward line.

Not many teams have two KPF’s that quality Richmond, Brisbane, Geelong, Carlton and maybe Adelaide.

Ideally one of Waterman/Williams can turn into a handy 3rd tall.

Just need to sort the smalls, hopefully a couple of Hewett/Burgiel/Long (Maybe Petch if fit and he works on his defensive game) can add that pace and pressure that is desperately needed.

As much as I love JK he wasn’t able to apply practically any defensive pressure last year (although he certainly put in the efforts) and Allan is far better in this regard.

It’s a very dangerous forward line the question has always been on locking it in and not allowing teams to rebound so quick.

Darling, Allen, Ryan is a top 8 forward line.
Carn.

Darling is ageing, plus one vaxx away from banishment. Allen is coming off a year long injury. Ryan was sporadically good at best in '22 and is a bit of a 'cream on top' player.

Name me 8 better forward lines.

Aside from those I’ve named only Port (continued improvement of Marshall/Georgiades) Bulldogs (2nd KPF, maybe Lobb) and Gold Coast (Ben King returning strong, does it push Casboult out who had a good year though) could possibly be considered, although they all have question marks.

Bottom 4 with around 4 to 6 wins.
Team is ageing and youth are very raw hence the low finish.

We are no chance of being anywhere near the 8 which is fine if we want to complete a great rebuild we still need more A grade talent finishing bottom 4 and not having muumys boys vic metro boys at the top of the draft will help that.

Everyone needs to be patient their are a lot of teams in the compete now phase we aren't one of them.
